Casa Sara is without doubt in one of the best positions situated on a small quiet well maintained complex, with parking outside your door. There are 3 terraces, one is a private roof terrace. Casa Sara is not overlooked to the front, you will find views of orange trees. Situated on the outskirts of the charming seaside village Alcossebre on Spain's picturesque Costa Azahar (meaning orange blossom coast). Breath-taking mountain views can be enjoyed from the roof terrace, it is a 5 mins. stroll to the coast and another 5 mins to the beach. Delicious restaurants tapas bars are a 10 mins walk. We are delighted to have 2 Michelin star restaurants in Alcossebre: El Pinar also Can Roig for that special occasion! Locally we have a well-stocked supermarket. The village is beautiful 20 minutes lovely walk along the coast or beach, why not walk along the board walk. Costa Azahar is often described as a hidden gem with a host of orange and almond groves. Idyllic beaches and coves lovely walks year round sunshine Costa Azahar offers a more authentic version of the Spanish Mediterranean. All beaches have blue flag status. Gently sloping beaches with crystal clear water. Ideal for children. Numerous sheltered sandy coves can be found along coast line.
– Carregador Beach
This is a blue flag beach, which is the largest in the zone. Sandy beach with a lot going on during the season, plus the sailing school is situated there. There is good access for those with reduced mobility.
– Romana Beach
Separated by sand dunes from Carregador Beach, Romana Beach is a blue flag beach shaped like a shell. In summer there are beach football competitions, as well as pedalo hire and a children’s play area.
- Las Fuentes Beach
Las Fuentes (fountain) is joined onto the north of Alcossebre. Enticing beach with refreshing cold springs creating unusual formation in the sand. Mineral streams run directly out onto the Las Fuentes beach where wildlife and birds come to drink.
During the height of the summer Las Fuentes is home to various activities, such as volleyball, both day and night, trampolines and play areas for children and pedalo hire. There is also a lovely beach bar offering delicious tapas and cocktails.
– Moro Beach
Small beach nested between two rocky areas. This sandy beach gets its name from the large emerging rock close by of the same name.
- Tres Playas
These are three small coves that are interconnected, they have a mixture of sand and shingle.
- Mañetes or Tropicana Beach
Tropicana beach has more of a tropical feel and tends to be quiet. Another beautiful sandy beach with straw parasols and sun loungers.
- Latest fun thing to be introduced to Alcossebre is hiring a Segway. Discover 10 kms of coast
- Port Aventura theme park: discover the six worlds of one of Europe's most iconic theme parks. Experience the ‘Dragon Khan’ roller coaster with 8 inverted loops or try out the two track roller coaster ‘Stampida’ entirely made of wood. The theme park also includes Costa Caribe giant water park, which includes an indoor area.
- Another fantastic day out: Aquarama water park (Benicassim). Over 45000 square meters of fun for the whole family. The ‘Devils Jump’ is the highest kamikaze slide in Europe! Little ones have their own areas in ‘La Cala del Pirata’, ‘Minidunas’ and ‘Chiquilandia’. Also enjoy the amazing wave pool.
- Peniscola, a picturesque old town with castle overlooking the town and sea, is a 30 mins. drive.
- The beautiful city of Valencia is only an hour away.
- Vinaros renowned for its seafood and beautiful beaches is a 40 mins. drive.

About Julie Roodnat
Ronald is a freelance IT Developer working in banking and Julie a telephonist working for a large hospital. Living in rainy Manchester, we make the most of our casa as often as possible for relaxation and much needed sunshine. We have two beautiful daughters. Also a precious five year old granddaughter. Isabelle is on her third holiday to Casa Sara but this time with Grandma & Grandad. We really can't wait!
Julie Roodnat purchased this house in 2005
Why Julie Roodnat chose Costa Azahar
We purchased our holiday home after watching 'Place in the Sun in 2003. The programme featured Alcossebre situated at the Costa del Azahar (Orange Blossom Coast). We instantly booked flights and fell in love with Alcossebre, the rest is history. We named Casa Sara after Julie's Grandma as she was 90 the year we purchased. This is a very authentic part of Spain. There are no high-rise buildings, it is also a conservation area. Beaches and coves are beautiful. Alcossebre is very family friendly with lots of children play areas. There are numerous delicious traditional tapas bars, restaurants and home made ice cream parlours also serving crepes & waffles scrumptious! All with stunning sea and mountain views! Alcossebre is also beautiful out of season when temperatures are not too high. This is ideal for hiking, walking, touring or a stroll on the beach after tapas, or of course just relaxing. Nothing quite like a siesta! After all you are in Spain.
What makes this house unique
Alcossebre is an extremely relaxing location we holiday here as much as possible. Also our family love to visit Casa Sara. It is a very quiet safe environment. beaches and coves are pristine. There are many walks suitable for all in the Sierra de Irta. Our favorite walk is the beautiful coastal walk to the lighthouse, when feeling energetic we take a picnic and bottle of wine into the mountains for a picnic. We had an amazing stay at Casa Sara for 2 weeks. The property is beautifully furnished and has lovely decor. It really has everything you could need. The pool is a stones throw from the outside terrace which is amazing and the beach is a 5 min walk to the end of the road. Couldn't recommend highly enough!!!
Difficult to find fault!
We booked the house on the basis of the previous reviews and were not disappointed. We have stayed in many holiday properties in Spain and this is one of the best. The house is very well furnished, nicely decorated and the quality, quantity and range of equipment provided is excellent. There was only the two of us but the house is big enough that 4 people wouldn't feel cramped, helped by having two showers and toilets. The walk to the beach is a a couple of minutes and the well stocked local supermarket is 10 minutes. It is a good 30 minute walk into the town centre along the beach side road and board walks but only a couple of minutes in the car if you don't fancy the walk. The development which the house is in is well tended (as the is general area) and the pool is only a few metres away from the side of the house. The area was very quiet when we were there (late September) but we like it that way so that was fine.
The owners were very prompt and helpful with our booking arrangements and provided lots of useful information on how to get to the house and the local amenities.
We have visited Alcossebre before and like the relaxed feel and lack of over powering developments. If we are looking to stay in the area again this is certainly a property we would come back to.
Fantastic family holiday
House was well furnished and spotlessly clean. Location ideal - quiet but an easy walk to beach and small supermarket. Kids loved the pools on the complex. Owner very helpful and always quick to respond. Highly recommend.
Beautiful looking property, excellent condition
Wonderful house. Really felt like it was a home from home, with little touches like soap dispensers, lovely lamps, pictures etc. Didn't feel stark but didn't feel too personal, just right! Everywhere was lovely and clean, and beds were nice and comfortable. Air Conditioning was a welcome addition. Pool was good, and very convenient position - close enough to just pop into from the terrace.
Lots of equipment in the kitchen, and also nice plates not just plain white, and a well stocked chest outside with toys, sun umbrellas, sun chair etc.
Great communication with the owner and very speedy responses.
Good location for lovely beaches, supermarket and numerous restaurants all within walking distance, but a little further into centre of resort for gift shops and more amenities (walk along dusty path/beach deck or short drive).
Visited water park and Peniscola which were both good days out and about 20 minute drive away.
Favourite restaurant was "el patio" in centre of resort.
Would defiantly recommend if you wanted good beaches and a slightly quieter part of the resort.
Thank you for a lovely holiday!
Lovely relaxing holiday
We arrived at Casa Sara after about an hour and 20 minutes drive from Valencia Airport. Julie's directions were spot on even with photos of places we would pass along the way. This was our first visit to Costa Del Azahar and we loved Alcossebre. Casa Sara is a home from home holiday villa, very clean light and airy. The kitchen is well equipped and has essentials in the cupboards. There was also a welcome pack in the fridge of Milk, Orange juice and bottled water. There is a shower room downstairs and a bathroom upstairs with another shower over the bath. A lovely roof terrace with great views of the mountains with two sun loungers and a small table and chairs. There is also a terrace downstairs with a larger table and chair and a sun canopy. The pool and gardens are immaculate, we had the pool to ourselves most days. The beaches in Alcossebre are all blue flag and kept clean. There is a wooden walkway which goes along the coastline into the town. Plenty of restaurants, some of the nicer ones more towards the Marina at Las Fuentes. El Patio was a favourite, the food was really good, also El Pinar which is a short drive up the mountains. The views from there are just wonderful and the food was excellent and staff friendly. There is a supermarket about 10 minutes walk from Casa Sara that stocks everything you need. Overall we had a fantastic time and would recommend this to couples or families for a relaxing holiday.

Activity and Interests
Along Alcossebre's ten kilometers of coastline, there are four main beaches: Carregador, El Romà (5 mins walk), El Moro and Manyetes (or Tropicana). There are also three coves: Tres Platges (Tres playas), a set of three bays separated by rocky formations whose bed is rock, Cala del Moro and Cala Blanca which is located near the lighthouse. All beaches have been presented with Blue Flags for their quality, facilities and cleanliness.
Alcossebre lies midway between Valencia and Barcelona. With the introduction of the brand new airport at nearby Castellón (25 km), making Casa Sara even more accessible by air. Most carriers (Jet2, Easyjet, Ryanair) fly into Valencia (74 miles) and Barcelona (154 miles) so you should have no problems reaching the exotic Costa del Azahar!
Car hire is recommended (but not essential) to explore this beautiful and unspoiled coastline. Please visit DoYouSpain for competitive prices.
Nearest railway station : Alcala de Chivert (10 miles) with rail links to both Valencia and Barcelona.
It's a 5 mins. stroll to the coast and another 5 mins. walk to Romano Beach. Nearest restaurants and supermarket are a 10 mins. walk. The village is a 20 mins. walk from the complex.
There are a wealth of high quality restaurants and tapas bars. Mainly situated along the promenade and marina. Of course predominantly Spanish, but also French, Italian and Swiss. Many have excellent views over the beach. A wonderful evening can be enjoyed in a relaxing ambience soaking up the atmosphere of the town. Individual boutiques and shops are of excellent quality with a range of merchandise available from arts & crafts. There are numerous, you will be spoilt for choice with dozens of delicious patisseries in and around town. Also a deli selling delicious produce and locally produced wine. A weekly outdoor market selling the freshest home grown fruit & vegetables tasty honey & local jams etc.
