A beautiful break from it all

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful property in a very traditional Spanish village a lovely quiet location. The property has two large well appointed and decorated bedrooms a large roof solarium with barbecue area, table and chairs to make the most of the sun which will be with you all of the day. A lounge dining area with downstairs shower room and kitchen, television with uk tv for those that want it. Fully airconditioned, which was needed as it was very hot for the duration of our stay. The kitchen has everything one could wish for for a self catering holiday. The property was immaculate. There is plenty of off street parking and there is a communal swimming pool a two minute walk away. The pool was spotless and very well maintained. The village is quiet with a community centre with lovely local bar nearby which is great to practice ones Spanish. There are children's play areas and a communal basketball pitch. There are two local stores where one can purchase most of the essentials. There is a village nearby called Sucina where Mario's a local restaurant served a wonderful full British breakfast for those so inclined. A short drive away and one is in the beautiful mountain range overlooking the cathedral city of Mercia which is approximately 40 min drive away. A great base for walking and cycling.

The most of the beaches are 20 minutes by car but easy to find, and the roads are heavenly quiet. The owners of the property were most helpful with their tips on where to visit, where to eat and what to do. There is a local English speaking contact nearby should there be any problems (which we did not).

Overall this is a fabulous base to see a beautiful area and will definitely return... next time with bikes.

Highly recommended.

A very clean, comfortable and well appointed house

  • 5 of 5

This is a great base for exploring the surrounding area. Highlights for us included visiting Murcia and Cartagena. The property itself was very homely, scrupulously clean and very well appointed. We chose to self cater for some of our meals and found everything we needed for this. Would certainly have no hesitation in recommending this property to friends and family and hope to return again at some point in the future.

So Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We arrived at this property by complete chance, we were let down by the standard of accommodation offered elsewhere and decided to move. The owner was so understanding and empathised with our situation, he arranged for the property to be prepared and ready within 24 hours, for this we can't thank him enough.

The property itself is very much home from home, there isn't anything that you would miss, it was clean, tidy and extremely welcoming. The village is in our view fantastic, there are a couple of shops where you can obtain all your requirements, one of the shops is a Spanish version of of Arkwright's store on "Open all Hours" it sells everything and the owner is very friendly, in fact all the villagers are very friendly, there are only three places where you can get a beer or a vino tinto, all within walking distance, but if your looking for a relaxing break then this is the place. In the surrounding area there are plenty of places to visit and there are a number of restaurants etc within 10 mins of the property.

Thanks Again Steve, we had a wonderful time in your beautiful villa

Great house, great location

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying here, the house was cosy and inviting, everything to a high standard. A book left by the owners provided us with lots of information on places to visit and things to do. We had a wonderful time and although in a Spanish village many English people live there and everyone is extremely friendly and willing to help with any information and an agent was on the end of the phone 24/7 in case we had any problems.

A great place to have a holiday as relaxing or action packed as you like.

Coast/Beach:

The nearest beaches are an easy 25 minutes' drive away on the Mar Menor, a calm, safe inland sea, separated from the Mediterranean by the narrow La Manga strip. All the Mar Menor beaches are blessed with very clean, great quality sand and are well worth a visit.

At the north end of the Mar Menor, a popular pastime is to bury oneself in the wet sand as it is alleged to have health-giving properties.

Travel:

As the airport is on the Mar Menor coast, it also is about 25 minutes' drive from the house.

We can arrange a transfer from the airport for you if you wish and we have had guests who have simply wanted a peaceful break and have remained in the village or asked us to arrange transport, however we'd recommend you hire a car which will allow you the freedom to discover this wonderful area of Spain.

Distances:

Nearest restaurants - 5 minutes drive

Sierra de Columbares - 5 minutes

Further Details:

The village has several small shops; two convenience stores, a bakery producing bread twice a day, a newsagent, hairdresser, pharmacy, ladies' fashion and three café bars.

Our village sits on the foothills of a breathtaking Regional Park, which is the largest bird reserve in Spain, through which you can drive to the old kingdom seat of Murcia with its lovely old quarter, magnificent cathedral, zoo & water park.

30 minutes to the South lies the ancient city of Cartagena, on the itinerary of most Mediterranean cruises, due to its historical importance, because of which it bears the marks of most of the European civilisations throughout history. It has impressive natural harbour defences which made it the natural choice as the filming location for "The Guns of Navarone."

"Costa Cálida" means "warm coast," so named because of the wonderful climate, giving year-round averages of 22 degrees and providing such a healthy environment that Murcia is known as the "Garden of Europe", producing a cooking enthusiast's dream of first-rate fresh produce all year round. It's not just the fleshy artichokes, the unbeatable, tangy tomatoes and the juicy citrus fruits fresh from the surrounding orange and lemon groves, but the succulent sea-food, freshly caught in the Mediterranean and the Mar Menor. A trip to any of the fabulous markets is an adventure in itself.

The region of Murcia is home to some of the most handsome towns in Spain - Lorca and Caravaca de la Cruz among them- as well as dozens of sleepy, castle-topped villages. It also boasts several regional parks, including the Sierra de Espuña, a natural park ideal for hiking, bird-watching and getting back to nature. Alternatively, try the Mar Menor, Europe’s largest salt-water lagoon providing calm waters, safe bathing and a plethora of water sports.
