Holiday Home in Angle, Nr. Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales - Situated next to the sea in a secluded location with amazing walks right outside the front door.

Sitting in 50 acres of protected coast-land, Ty Haf is one of two contemporary holiday homes that have been lovingly converted from a 1950s military building. Perfect for walkers as there is direct access onto the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. Driving distance from the many attractions that Pembrokeshire has to offer, from world renowned beaches to historic castles, adventure sports and family days out. A short walk down the coastal path takes you to the safe and family friendly Angle beach.

Well-equipped accommodation with free wi-fi, an on-site laundry room and a shared games room with full size pool table, dart board, table football and a selection of books and children’s toys.

We welcome dogs and make no extra charges for bringing your pet.

About Jennie Robson

We are Jennie and Simon, we live on site with our two children and Dylan the border collie.

We are on-site owners. Our home is 100 meters from Ty Haf, however due to the slope of the land only our roof is visible from the holiday properties. We like to think that we are on hand if you need us but otherwise the land is large enough that we would rarely bump into you.

We are passionate about Pembrokeshire, especially our little corner of it. We think that it's a great place to visit and we want to share it with you.

Why Jennie Robson chose Pembroke, Tenby, Saundersfoot & The South Coast

We moved to Pembrokeshire in 2009 because we fell in love with the land and the history behind it. Jennie had always wanted to live by the sea and the opportunity to buy 50 acres of coastline was too good to miss.

We have spent the last 5 years converting the old military buildings on the site into a home for our family and what will eventually be 3 holiday homes.

What makes this house unique

This is a unique property. It has been converted from a LORAN station which was a radio navigation system used to track ships and aircraft. This station was in use until 1977.

The whole site was taken over by the Ministry of Defense in 1901 and played a key role in the military defense of the Milford Haven waterway.

As well as being littered with military history the site is also unique as it has not been farmed, this has left a very diverse ecosystem that is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. We have protected and rare species of orchids, fungi and birds.

In order to stop the land being overrun by gorse we use horses to graze the site, these horses are free on the land and are definitely our favourite way to keep the grass cut!

  • We have two spacious bathrooms. Both are fully tiled with modern fittings and extra-large separate showers. The second bathroom also has a large deep bath, ideal to wash away the sand after a day at the beach.

Notes on accommodation: The house is tiled throughout and heated with underfloor heating. All gas and electricity are included in the holiday price. There is no smoking allowed in the property. A travel cot and high chair are available and need to be requested in advance. Dogs are welcome but please do not allow them onto the furniture. Outside: Ty Haf is located in a secure fenced gated area of approximately 1 acre. Ty Haf is one of two adjoining buildings. We plan to open a second holiday home in the adjoining building in Easter 2016. Outside of the fence there is a further 48 acres of protected grassland that leads to rugged sandstone cliffs on three sides. Guests have access to all of this land. We can provide secure storage for surfboards and bicycles and there is room for a boat on a trailer. Utility Room: We provide shared laundry facilities in an adjoining building. Both washing machine and tumble dryer are provided along with an iron and clothes airer. We also leave you some washing liquid and fabric conditioner so you don't have to bring any with you. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Our rental price includes towels and the beds will be freshly made up for your arrival. If you stay for longer than 7 days we will provide you with a change of linen and towels. Other: The dining table seats 4 people comfortably and a high chair can be supplied on request. We also provide you with a picnic rug and deckchairs in case you want to head outside to find the best sea view.

Could not have been better

The owners have skillfully managed to retain the historical exterior of these ex-military buildings whilst creating an ultra modern look to the interior. West Angle Bay can be reached by a short stroll over the fields whilst Freshwater West (surfers paradise) is a short car drive away. The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path adjoins the 50 acre site which we were free to wander. Dogs are warmly welcome. The honesty shop (not for profit) was very handy for basic items which can easily be forgotten when packing the car.

We loved this place so much that further stays have already been booked.

Gorgeous cottage Glorious location

Ty Haf was all we could have wished for. Beautiful cottage, spotlessly clean and superbly equipped. The best welcome/information pack we have ever had. So much local and interesting information and a Bird 'catalogue' I would happily have paid for. A lot of thought and work has clearly gone into providing all that guests could want.

It was so peaceful and calming. So nice not to hear any traffic.

We could only stay a few days but would love to return for a longer holiday.

Peaceful location with great access to coast

We booked this accommodation because we wanted something a little different and it lived up to our expectations. It is exactly as described and it was extremely clean and well presented. The owners have done an excellent job and have provided everything you need for a self catering holiday. We stay in cottages a lot and this one will definitely go onto our "would like to go again" list.The beach at Angle was great and just a short walk downhill, so we did not need to use the car. Me and my 7 year old enjoyed a swim in the sea, whilst by 6 year old and hubby preferred rock pooling, and playing beach games, so there was something for everyone. We enjoyed to walk from the cottage along the coast path to Freshwater West. The boys were keen to see "the beach where Dobby died." We also enjoyed the walk from Manorbier to Lystep and Lydstep Caverns is quite special. Pembroke Castle and Folly Farm are good if you have children to entertain on the days where the weather is not so good. They were both excellent. We also found the NT Stackpole estate made a good day out and you can access some really excellent sandy beaches from there. So all in all, fantastic, peaceful accommodation which was well position, great access to the coast path and the walk from Angle beach around the headland to Angle harbour is also great. Thanks so much for a great holiday. The games room and honesty shop are also a great addition to what is a perfect base.

A great place to stay

The property was stylish yet functional, had everything we needed (and more), we had a great week at Ty-Haf. Jennie was welcoming and gave us plenty of information, the kids absolutely loved the Games Room! I loved the fact that it was quite remote but my wife was less enthusiastic, however it was only a short walk down to Angle Beach which my 2 & 4 year olds managed easily. The food down at Wavecrest Café at Angle Beach was excellent and if you want an all-day beach, it's worth a trip over to Broad Haven. Would thoroughly recommend staying here.

Stunning dog-friendly accommodation

Our second stay at Ty Haf, and just as lovely as the first. Superb accommodation and location for a get-away-from-it-all holiday, with wonderful beaches and walks on the doorstep. A wonderful week at Ty Haf at East Blockhouse

We had an amazing week in Pembrokeshire staying at Ty Haf. The accommodation is outstanding, very well equipped, spotlessly clean and well maintained. We received a very warm welcome from Jennie and Simon who think of everything to make their guests' stay perfect.

Ty Haf is in a stunning, peaceful location surrounded by incredible views of land, changing skies, sea and wildlife, and is only a few minutes walk from the coastal path from where you can enjoy excellent walks into and around Angle or to Freshwater West. Our fabulous walks in the area included Angle, Freshwater West, Stackpole Quay/Bosherton Lily Ponds/Broad Haven/Barafundle, and around Manorbier.

We took our dog who had the time of his life and even received a holiday dog tag to wear while there from Jennie.

I highly recommend this property to all.

Coast/Beach:

There are over 50 beaches in Pembrokeshire, and we have the most green flag and seaside awards than any other county in Britain. There are beaches for every activity.

Our nearest beach is Angle beach a 10-15 minute walk down the coastal path. It is very safe and child friendly and even on the busiest day does not become crowded like some bigger beaches. There is a café and toilets and when the tide is out there are lots of rock pools to explore. It is also dog friendly.

Travel:

We are located in a very rural area therefore a car is highly recommended.

The nearest bus stop is in Angle Village 1.5 miles away. Angle village is on the Coastal Cruiser bus service. This is a lovely way to explore some of the local area and beaches. The bus stops in the village and at the beach car park.

The nearest train station is in Pembroke 10 miles away.

There is a ferry port in Pembroke Dock 12 miles away.

The nearest international airport is in Cardiff 108 miles away.

Distances:

We are located 1.5 miles from Angle Village. Angle is a small village with 2 pubs, a shop, a church and a mobile post office. Both pubs serve food and are within walking distance (20-30min) and we can lend you a torch if you are walking back at night.

Our nearest town is Pembroke 10 Miles away, this is where you will find the nearest supermarket, doctors surgery, pharmacy and petrol station. It is also home to a magnificent castle.

The seaside resort of Tenby is 20miles away.

Further Details:

Pembrokeshire is a popular holiday destination and has plenty of places to visit, from historic castles and beautiful beaches to roller-coasters and dinosaurs!

The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path runs for 186 miles and covers some of the most spectacular coastline in the world. The coastal path has been voted the best in the UK and the second best coastal trail in the entire World and if you look at some of the views (try our pinterest page!) it’s easy to see why. Our guests at Ty Haf have direct access to the coastal path and therefore no excuse not to get walking!

Pembrokeshire is a great environment for activities and adventure sports and as we have more blue flag beaches than anywhere else in the UK there are lots of opportunities to try water based sports. There are plenty of local companies where you can try your hand at a day of coasteering, surfing or sea kayaking or maybe take a boat trip out to one of the islands off the coast. A sea safari will take you to the RSPB nature reserves of Skokholm, Skomer and Gassholm to see the seals and the thousands of nesting sea birds.

If you want to stay closer to home our land is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The area is covered with a diverse grassland ecosystem and supports numerous species of birds including, cormorants, choughs and stonechats. Mammals present on the site include foxes, bats, rabbits and badgers and the site is grazed by Gypsy cob horses.

This headland has long had a key military defence role because of its location at the mouth of the Milford Haven Waterway. Dotted around our land you will find the remains of an artillery blockhouse built in the 1530’s along with gun emplacements and searchlight bunkers. The building you will be staying in was constructed as a LORAN (LOng Range Aid to Navigation) station. This was a radio navigation building constructed in 1959. It stopped transmitting in 1977.

A deposit of 30% of the total rental cost is required to secure your booking.
The remainder of the balance is due 8 weeks before the start of the rental period.

If there is less than 8 weeks to go then the balance must be paid in full.

Changeover Day:
Weekly bookings in peak holiday times run from Saturday to Saturday.
Outside these times we have a three night minimum stay with flexible changeover days. You may check in any time after 3pm on your day of arrival. Check out is any time before 10am.

Short breaks are available outside of peak season. Please contact us for prices.

Our preferred method of payment is by electronic bank transfer. Cheques will be accepted if there is time for them to clear before the rental period is due to start. Paypal is also accepted but charges apply.
