About the Owner

Ken & Sue Robinson moved to St Gengoux from Yorkshire in 2008 to finish renovating their 16th century town house which we now run as a B&B. Soon after we bought another ruin in the town to create our gite and ceramic painting studio.

When we are not busy working we are usually out cycling around this fantastic area. We joined a local cycle club in 2009 and started cycle racing in 2010. We believe we can help cyclists of all abilities get the most out of exploring the local countryside whether it be flat or hilly rides they seek!

Further Details:

St Gengoux is a listed mediaeval town full of history; a fabulous place to explore, taste the local wines and sample the Burgundian cuisine. There's a large fortnightly street market on Tuesday & a smaller market every Saturday. There's an epicurian delicatessen and salmon smokery in the town and local produce in surrounding villages. The town has its own wine Cave Co-operative.

The former railway line between Chalon & Macon has been converted into a traffic-free tarmac route open to cyclists, walkers, roller-bladers & horse riders. The 34km section from Cluny to Buxy which passes through St Gengoux has the label “Tourisme & handicap” and is suitable for wheelchair users.

Activities include walking, cycling, fishing, horse riding, golf, swimming, visiting Romanesque churches & chateaux, wine tasting. The religious centre of Taizé is only 15 minutes drive away.

Seasonal activities include a carnival in May, street organ festival in June, night markets in July & August and 2 exhibitions in the Spring where local artists sell their work.

Full information on all activities and events at the Tourist Office in the town where English is spoken.
