Winner Best Self catering in Norfolk, EDP tourism. 4 Stars, Special Gold Award - The Bailey - one bedroom, King Size Bed sleeps 2

Updated: 03-Oct-2016
6 Cottages in Holt, North Norfolk, England in 3 acre garden and woodland, tennis court, play area - Walking Distance Of Holt Town Centre And Steam Railway, Short Drive To Beautiful Beaches

The cottages are within a courtyard setting, adjacent to The Castle a grade II listed regency castellated house and the centrepiece of The Grove.

All the properties are extremely light and airy with large rooms and high ceilings. They have all been fully re-furbished including new central heating, bathrooms, kitchens and all soft furnishings.

We have been awarded 4 stars and a special gold award by Visit England, additionally we have just been awarded Norfolk's Best Self Catering Establishment in the EDPvisitnorfolk.co.uk Tourism Awards 2015.

There is Wifi, Freeview, HD Panasonic TV, freezer, microwave, hair-dryer and welcome pack so you can make a cup of tea or pour a glass of wine to start relaxing as soon as you walk through the door. We have board games and books to borrow and the laundry has 2 washing machines for guests to use.

Renting all six properties together at The Grove provides accommodation for up to 36, a fantastic venue to hold a family party or for a special celebration with friends.

A newly installed all weather tennis court is provided for the sole use of guests. We also have a trampoline, sandpit, climbing frame and swings for children. There is plenty of parking away from the cottages and behind locked gates.

Please look at property reference E10615 for details and photographs of the other properties at The Grove, The Tower, The Keep and The Gatehouse.

We had a really lovely stay at the Grove and thought the Gatehouse was fabulous! It was beautifully furnished and decorated and I loved your attention to detail. Holt is lovely and we would love to return at some point. Everything was just perfect, real luxury, we felt quite spoiled and my children would like to move in!

The Willsher family stayed at The Grove Holt for May Bank holiday 2014. Three generations stayed in four cottages which is just how we imagined and hoped The Grove Holt would be best used.

"I think you have the place spot on and we cannot think of anything you could do to improve The Grove Holt. All in all a fabulous place and up there amongst the best we have ever stayed in - anywhere in the UK or abroad.

We will definitely be back and hopefully you will give your first few guests some priority booking !! "

We have greatly enjoyed the apartment. We have not missed anything. everything has worked very well and we have appreciated all the details. So beautiful and practical and the weather was nice too!

Mr & Mrs Cloughley stayed in The Bailey March 2014

We had a wonderful short break recently at the Grove in Holt.

Holt itself has a great small market town atmosphere and the Grove is just a short walk from the town centre. It is also a really good base for all the coastal towns such as Wells and Hunstanton.

The Grove is a beautiful building and the ground floor apartment we stayed in was called The Bailey - it was decorated in a cool coastal feel really calm and relaxing and beautifully accessorised. The high ceilings and big windows let in loads of light and looked out onto the pretty, secure and well maintained grounds.

The accommodation was beautifully appointed, absolutely spotless and very well equipped.

We felt very pampered.

The Grove is new, and I imagine will quickly become hugely popular - we'd love to keep it a secret, but know it would be such a great holiday base for couples and families, that we have to let you know about it.

You wont be disappointed.

Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Wendy and Les Cloughley (and Mini Schnauzer Bert)

Mr & Mrs Pailing, Northamptonshire stayed in The Bailey March 2014

We recently stayed in the Bailey at The Grove Holt and were pleasantly surprised to find great attention to detail. What a beautiful place and setting. Very private, clean, cosy and everything you could need in a holiday let. A real home from home. Fantastic real log fire and fully equipped with top quality items throughout the house.

I would highly recommend you staying here and there is so much to do around the area and Holt is a lovely friendly place. Try the Kings Head (dog friendly) for a warm welcome and friendly drink, they also do food. The Taste of India was outstanding and some of the best Indian food we have tasted, especially for a takeaway (restaurant available too). I am sure you will enjoy it as much as we did. We look forward to coming back and would highly recommend.

Ms Doherty, stayed in The Castle February 2014

The photographs belie the quality and atmosphere of The Grove. I recently stayed in the Castle with family and friends and would highly recommend a stay. The Regency property has been sensitively restored, maintaining original shutters, coving, fireplaces and a gorgeous circular landing. The furnishings are tasteful, comfortable (especially the beds) and the kitchen is better equipped than mine at home. Can't wait to visit in the summer when the ample garden will be in full glory. A perfect location for shopping in Holt and on the doorstep of wonderful beaches.

About the Owner

We spent years holidaying in North Norfolk with our children, before deciding to buy a holiday home to use and let. When The Grove Holt came on the market in 2012, we fell in love with it based on the location, privacy and all the facilities close by in Holt and along the glorious North Norfolk coast line. We spent the best part of a year restoring the six properties at The Grove Holt to create holiday homes where we would want to stay ourselves.

Tim works in IT and Alison is a foster carer so we cater fully for small children with cots, high chairs, an adventure playground and board games plus crab nets and buckets left by guests are available for re-use.

Surprise in Holt

  • 5 of 5

A spacious, well designed and beautifully decorated and presented property and exactly as described. The apartment looks newly refurbished with a seaside theme. The large wooded grounds on the outskirts of Holt gave a feeling of countryside, whilst being near the town.

Good instructions for arrival included entrance, alarm and key safe codes and everything needed for the stay was there. We did not see the owners, which was an unusual experience after many years of staying in cottages, but phone numbers were provided for contact.

The apartment is perfect for 2, and we would recommend it unreservedly.

Holt is a lovely town for small shops, cafes, restaurants etc and we particularly liked Byfords for the deli, coffee and an evening meal. Along the coast and inland there are so many places to visit and eat that we only scratched the surface, but my Fitbit registered 68km of walking in the week - all very enjoyable. Notable was Wiveton Hall Cafe on a walk from Blakeney.

It was a surprise to find such a wonderful place to stay and we hope to go back next year.

Clear directions to find The Grove, listing description accurate and layout as described. We did have a little trouble getting into the key safe (entirely due to operator incompetence!), but once in we found the rooms beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. Kitchen extremely well equipped down to the last 'klippit', loved the spacious sitting room and it's quirky window onto terrace, best and biggest sofa bed we've ever come across and very comfortable large main bed. The garden, tennis court and playarea were well maintained and wonderful for keeping our families in the other units occupied - especially the boys! We had chosen The Grove because our youngest son was marrying a local lass, so it proved to be a perfect base in the run up to the wedding and on the day itself but then afterwards, it was well situated for exploring North Norfolk and a haven to return to.

Perhaps there could have been a tumble drier (small children/babies do get through a phenomenal number of clothes and the weather is not always clement for drying outside) in the Laundry, which was otherwise well equipped and brilliantly well stocked with children's games/distractions.

The owner provided excellent customer care, providing cots, high chairs, non feather duvets and pillows and much appreciated welcome goodies on arrival. She even helped out promptly when I somehow managed to lock the keys inside the property! She could not have been more helpful.

We ate in most nights because of the grandchildren, but one evening had delicious fish and chips from Albert's and then a good meal in the bar at The Feathers Hotel. Can recommend both worth trying.

Being used to Cornish beaches, we found the North Norfolk coast very different but interesting nevertheless although the walk to actually submerge oneself in the sea was incredibly long, eecially at low tide!

We would wholeheartedly recommend The Grove to friends and relatives and would love to return for an anniversary celebration if not before!

From the Owner

The Grove Holt is set in 3 acres of gardens and woodlands. Arriving to a chilled bottle of wine or a cup of tea and some nibbles, all left be the owners to welcome guests, as the younger members of the party scamper into the adventure playground or start digging in the sandpit makes for an easy start to anyone's holiday. The tranquillity and spaciousness of the gardens belies the fact that the cottages are so close to a busy town centre with every amenity including many exclusive shopping experiences and interesting galleries.
