Large village house dating from 18th century, fully-renovated and finished in traditional style, with living accommodation on the two upper floors and large garage/utility/store area below. Living/dining room overlooking village square, private, enclosed patio/terrace off the kitchen to the rear. Three large bedrooms and two full-bathrooms. Comfortable and available for rental throughout the year - fitted with oil-fired central heating in all living areas and cooling fans in each bedroom. The house overlooks the main square and church of the village with its cafe/bar and small shops (inc the boulangerie/patisserie, tabac, winery/cave, and local supermarche), is near to all village amenities, and within easy access by car of nearby villages and towns with their shops, bars, restaurants, banks, and larger supermarkets.

Our English caretaker lives nearby and looks after the house; she will have prepared the house for your arrival, will meet/greet you on arrival with the keys, and is available to support you during your stay.

About the Owner

Each of our holiday properties in Spain, France and Florida USA is owned by a member of the Steiner family, and we enjoy each house for our own holidays with family and friends.

Our houses are very much a "home from home", and each has been chosen by us for their own specific location.

We make regular inspection/maintenance visits to each property, and have an English-speaking caretaker who lives locally and who manages the property in our absence.

The caretaker prepares the house and meets/greets you on your arrival, and is available to assist you (if needed) during your stay.

The caretaker is also a very useful source of local information that will make your stay even more enjoyable - please do ask them about the best restaurants, street markets, local festivals and fiestas!!.

Excellent property, well maintained and had everything you could possibly need. Fantastic welcome pack that certainly helped to create a holiday mood upon arrival. Good base to explore the coast and stay inland to swim in rivers and lagoons. Always good to return to the house and eat out on the terrace until the sun disappears. Also at a very reasonable price.

We enjoy the ambiance of the village, which offers the best of being near to the Med. coast with being immersed into a landscape of historic small towns and villages nestling amongst rolling vineyards. Our property is located in the centre of this historic working village in the Herault wine-growing region. We like the welcoming local-village feel to the place, with its cafe, tabac and church in the square, the nearby school, mairie, and the cave for wine-tasting and purchases; several small shops and the weekly market add to the environment. The village holds regular fetes and festivals to which everyone is invited, and the village still has its "circulade" fortifications and ramparts, with interesting streets and alleyways for you to explore as you stroll out for countryside walks.

Many local places of historical interest to visit, such as Magalas, Penezas, Beziers, and the walled city of Carcassonne. Other places include Minerve and the Camargue, as well as larger historic cities such as Montpellier and Perpignan.

Surrounded by the local wine-growing regions of the Herault and Languedoc, with St Chinian and Faugeres nearby, and Minervois and Fitou a little further away.

Coast/Beach:

Expansive beaches and sand-dunes at Valras (30 mins.) Agde (45 mins), and Narbonne (1 hour) - with many other smaller resorts between.

Travel:

A car is recommended; local bus services into Beziers/its rail station, and to local villages go from the village square.

Car rental facilities at choice of regional airports - Beziers, Montpellier, Perpignan, Nimes (1 hour approx.), and Carcassonne, Toulouse or Marseilles (within 2 hours’ drive - by motorway).

If travelling by car (from the UK), it is typically a 10 to 12-hour drive from Caen, Cherbourg or Calais via A75 Mediterranee Autoroute [toll-free from nr Clermont Ferrand to Pezenas].

We enjoy the panoramic view over the village square from our spacious house, with plenty of day-to-day activity and interest happening before you. We are within easy walking distance to the cafe/bar, tabac, boulangerie/patisserie and local cave, and the house is ideal either for relaxing "at-home" or as a base for going out and about to explore the local area. The bus-stop to Beziers and to the surrounding villages is in the village square, taking you either across the expansive vineyard landscapes toward the coast or inland to the small villages set in the rolling craggy hillsides. Further afield, are larger towns such as Pezenas and Beziers, and historic cities at Narbonne, Perpignan, Nimes and Montpellier. And of course the expansive Med. coastal beaches and sand-dunes!!
