Seven large bedrooms and four reception rooms providing all the comfort for extended family and friends.

About John Lansley

We currently live in Scotland where we are renovating a castle for use as a holiday rental. We have two grown up children and a beautiful new grand daughter. We have one dog who travels with us to France and up and down the country.she loves nothing better than being in the car going somewhere. We love travelling and exploring new places, we became involved in holiday homes because of our own love for self catering accommodation and to try to provide that little bit extra or bit different. Each year we try to improve the houses as much for our benefit as for our guests, as our family and ourselves enjoy the house and surrounding area.

Why John Lansley chose Angus & Dundee

we have been overseas on and off for the past 10 years and John has now retired and we wanted a new project and this one came along.

Great family anniversary trip

My wife and I celebrated our 50th anniversary by taking our son and his family to this castle in Scotland! What a great time! Sue and John (owners) were extremely kind and helpful! Great place for a large group.We played croquet at 10:30pm on the lawn- great fun. Also loved the hot tub barrel. Our son made a fire every night while we played cards and had fun. One of the best weekend getaways!

My stay at the castle was amazing. From the moment I entered the gates of the property I fell in love with it. The grounds of the castle are tranquil and vast. The history of the castle makes it even more of an amazing stay. The inside of the castle was impressive as it was welcoming. John and Sue made us feel at home straight away and made the stay even more enjoyable. We stayed in one of the master suites with an en suite. The room was stunning with its antique furniture and soft furnishings. The bathroom was perfect with a free standing bath facing out onto the grounds. I would highly recommend anyone to stay there.

A magic family getaway

We booked Colliston castle for our annual family get together - thirteen of us plus the pooches! The castle was more than enough room for all of us and was a total fairytale. The kids adored it - they had the freedom to run around playing knights and princesses and that left us grown ups to relax, blether, drink the odd glass of wine (!) and tend to the fire. The castle is stunning - so many beautiful features and nooks and crannies - but not so formal and perfect that you feel you can't touch anything. Plus it has all the conveniences of home - electric showers, dishwashers, washing machines/dryers, even a hot tub!! And super handy for arbroath if you need to pop to the supermarket or go out for lunch. It has the feel of a big country family home, and we felt very welcome and relaxed there. Thoroughly recommended.

Great venue for a family gathering!

Brilliant was ideal for a family get together

Very impressed with the property ideal for our family get together age range 6 to 70 - the grand children had a terrific time (playing hide & Seek). All facilities that we needed were provided the pictures on the website gave a little idea of what to expect but reality was better . Even a deer, red Squirrel, and loads of pheasants in the garden. The owners were very accommodating allowing different start dates and then being most welcoming on our arrival. taking tine to show us around and explain things. I've already been telling friends what a terrific place it was

Further Details:

Several supermarkets in Arbroath, none 24hours. Nearest 24hour supermarket is on the kings way in Dundee. On line supermarket delivery is available in this area.

Butt and Ben restaurant in Authmithie is excellent for that special meal but needs to be booked especially for large parties. Harbour grill provides excellent food and gives us a discount for our guests. Otherwise good cheap food available at the pubs in Arbroath. High tea at the Colliston Inn recommended but you need to book even for small groups.

Angus glens are beautiful and provide many walking paths.
