Bungalow in Staveley Nr. Windermere, Lake District, Cumbria, England - Quiet Location on outskirts of village

Warm & cosy cottage with central heating. Lounge has an open fire; plenty of logs provided. Well equipped kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, double oven, Tassimo coffee machine, breakfast table. Conservatory/dining room. Freezer, washing machine & tumble drier & logs in downstairs storeroom. Enclosed, south facing garden with secure bike storage & bike washing facilities. Patio with furniture & BBQ in summer months. Parking for 2 cars. Reston Mill Cottage is located on the edge of the village & is perfectly placed for easy access on foot or by bike to the tranquil Kentmere valley. Situated in the National Park, 4 miles from Windermere & Kendal , Staveley is a ideal place to stay with great pubs, quiet walks & superb biking both on & off road. Please note that access to the rear garden & storeroom is down a few steps. A maximum of 2 well-behaved dogs will be accepted. Dogs must not be allowed upstairs or on furniture.

About Mrs Cathy Peplow

Reston Mill Cottage has been the family holiday home for more than 25 years. I took over running the cottage from my parents in October 2014. Since then the cottage has had several updates & improvements. My husband Phil & I make many visits to Reston both to do regular maintenance and to enjoy the area on bikes & on foot.

Our principal interest is road cycling and enjoy riding the quiet lanes in the beautiful area south of Staveley and the challenge of climbing all the high passes.

We live in Staffordshire and run an internet based bespoke curtain & blind making business - we hope that you like our handiwork!

Why Mrs Cathy Peplow chose Staveley

This is our 2nd home and we like to make it as homely and welcoming as possible. We provide almost everything that you would have in your own home, All of the furniture has recently been replaced & is of excellent quality & very comfortable. The central heating is powerful & warm and heats the cottage very quickly, even in the depths of winter. In addition to the central heating, there is an open fire with a plentiful supply of hardwood logs.

A relaxing bolthole

Reston Mill was a very cosy, clean and comfortable property and a joy to return to after a day's sight seeing. We were not affected at all by hurricane Ophelia as the bungalow was so well insulated! A lovely addition was the open fire with logs provided. We have returned home, batteries recharged, and wouldn' t hesitate in going back in the future.

Wonderful, cozy cottage in The Lake District

The Lake District can be very crowded and busy, so I decided it might be better to stay in Stavely, away from the more popular tourist centres. It was a great decision - the cottage was warm and comfortable and worked very well for the four of us. The beds were soft and the cottage was clean and inviting when we arrived. All of the instructions were clear and explicit which was helpful. We could walk to the local pub (The Eagle and Child) and to get groceries. All of the places we planned to visit were a short drive (thankfully - the roads can be intimidating). It was a pleasure to return to our cottage in the evening, after a busy day.

15 minutes easy access from J36 M6. Rail station in village centre. Regular bus service outside property.

Distances:

4 miles Kendal, 4 miles Windermere, 8 miles Ambleside. No more than 15 miles to Grasmere, Ullswater, Great Langdale & Coniston.

Further Details:

Bike hire available from Wheelbase, UK's largest cycle superstore. Also Hawkshead brewery & bar in centre of village adjacent to Wilf's cafe. Several artisan shops including specialist bakery. Spar shop & newsagents/ PO. Fish & chip shop. Chemist. Famous Watermill Inn & micro brewery 1 mile away at Ings.

£150.00 non refundable deposit on booking. Balance due 6 weeks before holiday. Full payment within 6 weeks.
Kitchen area must be left in a tidy, reasonably clean state with all crockery and utensils left clean & put away. Dishwasher emptied.

Changeover Day:
Normal changeover is Saturday however we offer short breaks depending on time of year so can often be flexible with arrival days. Please contact us for details.

Notes on prices:
Discount for late bookings. Single night stays possible for last minute bookings. January to March - book 2 nights stay 3rd night free
