We have stayed in this villa twice in the last three years, and have booked to visit again next August. We totally fell in love with the villa and Uzumlu the first time we visited -to wake up to the view of the mountains over the olive groves across the lane is something we will never tire of seeing.

We love the pool area, a fantastic relief after a long hot day sightseeing. The garden is beautiful, with fig trees, grape vines and is carefully maintained. Whilst there is no air conditioning, we stayed here in the hottest months and yet the ceiling fans are perfectly sufficient for a cool breeze when required and aiding a good night’s sleep.

We wholeheartedly recommend this villa to anyone looking for a comfortable and relaxing holiday in a traditional Turkish village, and as a perfect hub for exploring.

Lovely villa in rural Turkish setting

  • 5 of 5

Villa Nar is on the edge of a small Turkish town, Uzumlu, in the hills above Fethiye. Set on the edge of town overlooking the olive groves and surrounding mountains, you are a short walk from the town centre, which contains all the amenities you would want for a relaxing stay: butcher, baker, little local supermarkets and a small selection of local bars, restaurants and cafés, enough to keep you fed and watered each day or night..

Uzumlu is and still feels like a simple, rural town with the mosque at its centre with locals driving their sheep and goats to pasture each day giving you a friendly wave in greeting as they pass. While you are situated in a tranquil valley setting, Uzumlu is only a pleasant 20-minute drive down a decent mountain road to Fethiye and about 40-minutes from Dalaman airport. For those that like to sightsee there is lots to do in and around the region all within an hour's drive of Villa Nar.

The villa is comfortable, simply furnished and has a great outdoor pool and patio areas and we particularly liked eating under the vine draped pergola next to the lemon and orange trees.

Villa Nar would be great for families and friends with or without children and if you want a taste of the more traditional Turkish life amongst the friendly and lovely local people, but with easy access to Fethiye and the region's tourist attractions, then we would thoroughly recommend you stay here.

Beautiful place to be on holiday!

  • 5 of 5

This is my 5th holiday to this villa and I love it more and more every time we visit! The villa has everything you need even down to a cool bag and lots of Tupperware for picnics! The pool is amazing especially on a hot day! The villa is situated in a beautiful rural Turkish village, the villagers are so friendly and there are many restaurants to choose from, we tend to eat in the village every evening, the food is amazing and very reasonable. You are in driving distance of many beautiful places including saklikent gorge, fethiye, kayachoy and olu deniz! It is a must to visit!

Tranquility in traditonal Turkey

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in this lovely villa in May 2013. We had a week of beautiful sunshine and one of the most relaxing holidays ever.

The village of Uzumlu is tranquil mixture of traditional village life merging unseemingly with a few discreet holiday makers. There are some lovely local shops and a bakery along with some excellent cafes / restaurants. The coast is nearby and we had a hire car but didn't always use it as we spent some very lazy days around the pool at the villa and in the village. We also went on some superb local walks, in particular to the nearby Roman fort with the most outstanding views and peaceful setting. There was a small weekly market with beautiful fruit and vegetables where all the local village ladies came and stocked up with their supplies.

The villa is in a lovely tranquil setting, immediately opposite an olive grove, with the only sounds coming from nearby crickets, goat herds and occasional calls to prayer at the village mosque. The villa itself is light and airy with large open rooms and is very well equipped. The garden however is the true delight of this property - it is quite simply stunning and has a lovely pool with a number of options for dining in the sunshine or under the shade. There was a regular gardner / pool attendant who spoke very little English but was absolutely charming, giving me cuttings of the roses to put in a vase.

My review of this villa has been somewhat delayed but our memories are very fond and we most certainly hope to return again soon.

Thoroughly recommended

  • 5 of 5

Two of us stayed in Villa Nar for 2 weeks in July 2013 when we needed to ‘get away from it all’ and the villa was just perfect, the pool divine, the garden full of flowers - I spent half my time photographing all the different butterflies attracted to the bougainvillea. We’d have lazy 3 hour lunches underneath the vine covered terrace and in the evenings sit on the balcony overlooking the vineyards and mountains with a local beer. The villa was spotlessly clean and fully equipped with everything we needed. Thoroughly recommended for a relaxing holiday.

Highly recommended

We have stayed in this villa twice and look forward to returning in May 2014.

The house is well kitted out for families, feels homely and has beautiful views. You get a real feel for the Turkish village life. Eating our breakfast on the terrace looking out over the olive groves was a great start to any day and we often ventured into the village to dine in the traditional restaurants.

The villa is an easy drive to Olu Deniz, where there is a lagoon ideal for young children or less confident swimmers, or Fethiye for shopping & entertainment.

It is perfect for a relaxing holiday or as a base for sight-seeing and we would highly recommend it.

Activity and Interests

Dalaman airport is one hour drive away. Car hire is recommended if visitors want to travel easily to the areas' many attractions and can be arranged on your behalf. Please ask us to obtain a quote for you. There is a very efficient Dolmus (public minibus) service from Uzumlu into Fethiye and travelling further afield by dolmus is possible but obviously slower than having your own car. Taxis are available both locally and from the airport and are reasonably priced.

Villa Nar is located at the edge of Uzumlu- it is about 800 metres to the centre of the village where there are a selection of shops, restaurants and a lovely stone fired bakery. There is a small Friday market which is great for food and other basics.

The town of Fethiye is 25 minutes drive away and has a beautiful harbour and seaside walkway and a much larger selection of shops, restaurants and markets.

Olu Deniz with its famous blue lagoon and beach is 35 minutes drive away.

Further Details:

There is no shortage of places to explore in this region of Turkey including the ruins at Cadyanda and Tlos, numerous beaches such as Kas and Dalyan and the impressive gorge at Saklikent.

We have provided guide books and driving maps at the villa.
