Deep in the heart of Norfolk, less than two hours from London and within easy reach of the North Norfolk coast, this beautifully appointed holiday home is an ideal place to escape the hustle and bustle of a busy life. This property is self-contained and makes up half of this spacious barn-style building (the other side is not rented out but sometimes used by the owners). The cottage has a light-filled, well equipped kitchen and a large yet comfortable living room with a wood burning stove. Positioned in an oak wood planted by the owner's grandfather over 100 years ago you are free to venture and wander in the woodland. Only 5 miles from the market town of Swaffham and a few minutes drive to the beautiful Oxborough Hall, it is the perfect location to enjoy the very best of the English countryside.

The Plantation - Fantastic

Great property to relax in, clean, homely & a bottle of wine waiting for us on arrival ! (the owner was very helpful)

Larger than I thought it was going to be, both inside & out.

Perfect for the kids & the dog, great base to explore Norfolk or just appreciate the quiet.

Highly recommend for anyone wanting to get away from the rat race !

LOVELY NORFOLK ACCOMADATION

my husband & i stayed in the plantation for 2 weeks ,it is a spacious and cosy cottage,clean & well equipped.beautiful garden and lovely village setting with many walks straight from the door.within an hours drive of the broads and approx 30-40mins to coast so great location.pubs serve great food and area very dog friendly ,we hope to return to this wonderful location and highly recommend this property &the lovely family who own it who are so welcoming ,wine & snacks on arrival were such a nice touch.

charming property

We stayed in this lovely and charming cottage with another couple, there was plenty of room and the house was very comfortable and homely. For a holiday let we were pleasantly surprised to find how well equipped it was and also how many original and interesting pieces of furniture and art work were in every room. Everything was provided including extra garden chairs and bbq to use in the peaceful and relaxing garden. Lovely location, close to the coast and the picturesque Norfolk countryside which has lots of local walks and is dotted with many charming Norfolk pubs, local fare is excellent. I would highly recommend

this property.

Brilliant stay, very relaxing.

We stayed at The Plantation with another couple and we had a wonderful time. The bedrooms are both a good size and the living space is really big. There is everything you need for a very relaxing stay. We didn't use the wood burning stove as the weather was good but in colder months this would be very cosy. It is a very peaceful setting surrounded by woodland. We found a great gastro pub in nearby Oxborough and enjoyed lots of walks and bike rides. Ideal for two couples or a family. We will be coming back!

Lovely, peaceful holiday

We had a lovely stay at this property. It is ideally placed for lots of day trips out and being right on the edge of a small village is quiet and very peaceful. The grounds surrounding the property were gleefully explored by all the family and the dog. The property itself is clean, very warm and cosy and the owners couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. Having a mixed age of kids including a toddler and a dog it's always tricky to find a property that fits but this one was ideal and we look forward to returning.

Wonderful propert

We have just spent two weeks in this delightful property. Such a lovely house - well equipped and very comfortable. Picturesque setting. Perfect location if you just want to chill out but within easy reach of the coast and various attractions. We can highly recommend this property.

Location

From the Owner

This holiday home was built on land that has been in the family for generations. It was the plantation for the old estate and in the good old days it only had a small shed for the carpenter and his men to work. As a family we love coming to this spot and hope it will remain in the family for many generations to come. We love people to come and enjoy this peaceful locations with beautiful walks and surrounding countryside.

Car: recommended

Travel:

Downham Market train station only 8 miles with direct links to London Kings Cross.

Nearest airports Norwich, Cambridge and Stansted.

Distances:

The ancient market town of Swaffham is 5 miles with a weekly Saturday market. Oxborough with its National Trust property Oxborough Hall and excellent gastro pub is only 4 miles.

Castle Acre Priory (English Heritage) and the Norman Castle ruins of Castle Acre are 7 miles away.

The North Norfolk coast can be reached in just over 30 minutes with its award winning beaches.

Further Details:

The Brecklands can now boast a variety of excellent gastropubs and restaurants.

For us the best things are the space, the quiet, the wonderful walks straight out of the front door. For the children they love the climbing frame, the playhouse and the sunken trampoline. The coast is only half an hour away which makes it really easy to go on day trips and yet not have to cope with all the tourists that gather there. As a family we love the big open skies of Norfolk that you can see come rain or shine.
