Pear Loft Cottage in pretty village of Ebberston, close to Moors and Coast

Pear Loft Cottage is a romantic, very private and characterful cottage for 2 people situated in the 4 acre grounds of Cliff House, our grade ll listed former manor house. Our five cosy, 4 star Visit Britain graded, stone and pantile cottages are clustered around the secluded gravelled courtyard and are all designed for privacy and comfort. The pretty Victorian walled garden provides an ideal place to read a book or enjoy a glass of wine after spending the day exploring the delights of one of the most beautiful locations in Yorkshire. The orchard leads to an avenue of Italian cypress trees and lavender which in turn lead to our impressive orangery - the perfect place to relax whatever the weather. The cottage has a cosy sitting room with oak beams, leather settee and flatscreen TV with Freeview, a fully-fitted kitchen with oak beams, fridge/freezer, electric oven and hob, microwave and cafetiere. The romantic double bedroom has oak beams and a low window overlooking the grounds. The cottage has full gas central heating and off-road parking for 1 car within the gravelled courtyard. Perfect for the North York Moors National Park, market towns of Helmsley and Pickering and within easy reach of the rugged coastline and sandy beaches of Whitby and Scarborough. Flamingo Land theme park and Eden Camp wartime museum are 20 minutes away. The historic city of York is 30 minutes away by car.

About Jo Hardie

Ian and I moved to Cliff House in the pretty village of Ebberston in 2008 from another small village 10 minutes away, with our three children Sam, Eleanor and George and Billy, our miniature dachshund! Ian, a baker and myself, a confectioner, run Cliff House Country Cottages and consider ourselves very lucky to be able to live in such a beautiful part of Yorkshire. When we are not busy preparing the cottages etc. we spend most of our free time pottering in the 4 acre grounds and gardens at Cliff House, so are always available for a chat or to offer advice on places to visit or recommend somewhere to eat.

We love this area and could not imagine living anywhere else. We had been looking for a holiday cottage complex for several years, as we were determined that we must be in the ideal location for our guests to be able to visit the coast (Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, Ravenscar), the moors (Flamingoland, North York Moors Railway, Eden Camp) Castle Howard, Nunnington Hall, Dalby Forest and the ancient city of York, all within a 30 minute drive. The location of Cliff House, sitting on the edge of the village of Ebberston, means that we are secluded and peaceful (many guests comment that it is almost like being in a hamlet) yet easily accessible to local facilities, being a two minute walk from a traditional pub and a bus route into Scarborough. We take all major Credit/Debit cards (no charges). Booking Notes:
Pear Loft Cottage is normally a Friday changeover. Our standard short breaks are 3 nights Friday to Monday or 4 nights Monday to Friday however we can be flexible during quieter periods. Please note that we do not accept breaks starting or finishing on a Sunday. Please email or telephone to make a booking or check availability etc. A deposit of £100 is required, with the balance payable 6 weeks before your stay. Payment can be made by card over the phone or a cheque if you prefer.

Changeover Day:
Normal changeover day in Pear Loft Cottage is a Friday. Three night short breaks start on Friday and four night short breaks start on Monday. Check in is after 4pm, departure before 10am.

Notes on prices:
Prices are per week, per cottage. Three night breaks (Fri - Mon) and four night breaks (Mon - Fri) are also available all year round - please ring for prices. No extras, price includes use of all our facilities, all bed linen, towels, heating and electric.

Notes on accommodation: In addition to our superb facilities, all guests receive a personal welcome on arrival, along with detailed and informative welcome packs (and a Yorkshire treat!) to help you make the most of your stay. Please note all our cottages are no smoking and we do not accept pets due to livestock on some of our land. Outside: The heated indoor swimming pool is located in the centre of the gravelled courtyard, in a purpose built building. It measures 24' x 12' and ranges in depth from 1 metre to 1.5 metres. It is open daily from 8am to 9pm, closing on Friday between 10am and 2pm for routine maintenance. The swimming pool and leisure facilities are strictly for the use of resident guests only. Ladies and gents changing rooms are available. The games room is located above the pool hall with table tennis, pool and darts (please bring your own darts). A coin-operated washing machine and tumble dryer are also situated in this building. The gardens amount to approx. 4 acres which include a Victorian walled garden with our unique and ancient pyramid shaped yew tree tree-house, some 20' high! Beyond the walled garden, the woodland area with spring-fed pond and stream provides a natural and interesting diversion. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen, bath, hand and tea towels are included and changed weekly. The cottage is thoroughly cleaned between lets. Guests will need to bring their own towels for use in the swimming pool. Other: Shared laundry with washing machine and tumble dryer (coin operated).
