Farmhouse between Aberdyfi and Machynlleth, Snowdonia National Park, Gwynedd, Wales - Beautiful And Tranquil Location. Approached From A Well Maintained Track To Get Away From It All

Beautifully renovated 300 year old farmhouse overlooking the Dyfi Estuary and stunning welsh countryside. With the Dyfi Osprey Project just over the river, together with Ynys-Hir Nature Reserve, the house has a special attraction for all bird lovers. Kites and Ospreys can often be spotted soaring over the garden.

We have provided everything from fluffy towels, herbs and spices and pasta, to a basket of logs to help you enjoy your stay here. The house has loads of charm from family antiques, local art and photographs, to furniture that we have renovated in keeping with the heart and soul the house. The garden has a wood-burning Chiminea for cooler nights watching the sun go down and a large barbecue for summer alfresco cooking.

Glan-y-Morfa is accessed down a well-maintained farm track, so you are definitely "off the beaten track", but only 10 minutes walk across fields and Talgarth Woods is the Plas Talgarth Country club, which has a great snug bar

(Y Garth) and restaurant . By car the house is only 15 minutes drive to the glorious beaches and coves on the Estuary and the delightful seaside village of Aberdyfi. Going inland for 15 minutes is Machynlleth; full of interesting junk and vintage shops, as well as a great weekly Market selling fresh local food and crafts. There are numerous walks and bike trails up in the mountains and the notorious Cadair Idris Mountain for the more adventurous.

Although all around the area there are numerous walks for all levels. There are plenty of maps and books in the farmhouse for you to plan your day.

We welcome dogs (we even have spare bowls for them), but please be aware that the house is surrounded by farmland, so they need to be kept under control at all times . No smoking permitted in the house.

The house has 2 large double bedrooms, 1 twin bedroom and 1 bedroom with full-sized bunk beds. A travel cot can be put up by request.

There is an upstairs bathroom and toilet with shower and a 2nd bathroom downstairs with bath, shower and toilet. A large family kitchen with table to seat 8, plus a separate dining room that also seats 8 people. The large sitting room has 2 sofas and a Jotel open log burner. There's a TV, hi-fi, plus numerous books and maps about the area. At the back of the house is a utility/games room with washing machine and Tumble dryer plus a drying rack for wet clothes and a muddy boots rack. Bikes can also be stored safely here, as there are some great mountain trails up in the mountains. If you want to stay in we also have table football and a "Safe" darts board, together with numerous outdoor games: badminton, boules,and quoits.

The house is well stocked with a variety of family board games and cards.

About Mark Coldham

We renovated Glan-y-morfa in 2012/2013. It had always been my family's holiday home when I and my brother were growing up. It was pretty basic then, but we came most weekends and every holiday. My parents finally retired there when we left home. After my father died, my mother continued living there until she got older and found the upkeep too much and we took the plunge of renovating it. My brother and sister-in-law moved back to the area at about the same time, so we still have strong ties to the area. It has been true labour of love from 200 miles away in London, but we and our daughter love coming up to stay whenever we can.

Mark works in advertising as did his wife Sarah, who now manages most of the rentals. Sarah divides her time between photography and working part-time as a teaching assistant in a local primary school.

Why Mark Coldham chose Cwrt

The house is in the most stunning location, overlooking the Dyfi Estuary. We wanted to make sure that it was still used when my mother-in-law moved out and also wanted to get it back to being loved and cared for. We have tried to keep the heart and soul of the house whilst also making it a lot more comfortable and accessible.

It is surrounded by amazing views and farmland, but is also only 15 minutes from Aberdovey's beaches and the great market and shops in Machynlleth. The farm house is located down a well maintained farm track, so the only traffic you hear is the occasional farmer on his tractor.

We love the area and all the fabulous walks around Cadair Idris and Dolgoch falls, the walks along the Dyfi Estuary, but most of all the peace and quiet and the views

What makes this farmhouse unique

What makes Glan-y-morfa special to us are the views from every window. Whether it is winter or summer, they are always changing and just lift your spirits.

When it gets chilly at night the Jotel open fire in the sitting room warms the house up beautifully. Although there is full central heating and underfloor heating in the kitchen and downstairs bathroom.

If you are looking for the perfect holiday retreat in peaceful and tranquil surroundings then this is the farmhouse to book. The owners have put an enormous amount of thought and effort into making this farmhouse a place that you will want to revisit year after year. The views from every window are breathtaking overlooking the River Dyfi. I stayed with my wife, our two children and my parents and two dogs and there was something to appeal to everyone. The children especially enjoyed the football table in the games room. There is no need to worry about forgetting to take items with you as this farmhouse is well equipped and there Is nothing you could ask for that they haven't already supplied. We enjoyed our long weekend stay immensely and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it."

Notes on accommodation: The farmhouse is full of character and charm. We have tried to keep the traditional elements together with the needs of your average family. There is full central heating throughout. Outside: There is front and back garden. The front garden has uninterrupted views across fields, the Estuary, and marshland where Osprey nests have been filmed for "Country File". There is a Chimney wood burner in the garden and also a barbecue. A wooden table and chairs several deck chairs and 2 sun loungers should cater for all eventualities of the weather. The back garden is lawn and blackberries growing in the bushes. There is a steep bank going down to the fence and small children should be not left unsupervised. The front garden is surrounded by a wooden fence and gate. In front is laid with welsh slate chippings and is perfect for a game of badminton (that is provided). There is parking for 3 cars. Utility Room: Washing machine, tumble dryer, table football, electronic darts board, sink, boiler. Wellie boot stand and pulley clothes dryer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen is changed each week and each guest has a bath towel. Hand towels are provided in both bathrooms and kitchen. Other: Dining Room with large formal dining table that seats 8 people. Beautiful old slate floor and welsh dresser.

Wonderful high standard farmhouse, surrounded by fields, with magnificent views.

Wonderful and very comfortable farmhouse with all the amenities. Fabulous views opposite the house, overlooking an estuary and mountains. Lots of great outdoor activities nearby. Very good communication from the owners about the stay. Would certainly recommend and hope to go again some time in the future.

There aren’t enough stars - an extraordinary find.

To say we loved this farmhouse is an understatement. Set off the beaten track, with breath-taking uninterrupted views of The Dyfi estuary, this farmhouse had everything we could have possibly wanted and more. It’s thick with charm while roomy and comfortable, has top-notch modern appliances, insanely fast wi-fi, all nestled among warm personal touches. It’s extremely stylish and generously kitted out, with enough to cook for, serve and feed large numbers had we had them. Every possible need was thought through and shared so that we could indulge in an authentic farmland experience, without having to take care of the lambing at 3 am. We partook of the honor system and used logs for the fire one night, and relished the heated slate floors in the mornings and on return from the dunes or walks. Everything is very well explained which adds to a great sense of confidence if you had any qualms about potential isolation. Above and beyond our expectations and we’d love to come back.

A beatifully appointed traditional farmhouse cottage in a truely remote rural location

A lovely property with plenty of space. Our party was made up of 8 adults and one 18 month old. The bunk beds are comfortable enough for adults of medium build. The property has plenty of equipment to cater for all situations. A good BBQ in the garden was great as the weather was kind to us. WiFi is available which was not initially evident in the on line literature! We were also able to get a phone signal. There is a fairly easy walk to the village where the pub serves reasonable food. For the more active, walks in the surrounding area can be challenging. An ideal get away from it spot which we would recommend to anyone. The owners are very helpful and have to commended for making our stay ideal.

Amazing location.. didn't want to leave!

My family and I have just got home from an incredible week staying in this beautiful house. It was so cosy, a real home from home! Waking up to see Buzzards and Ospreys flying around was amazing! A bird lovers paradise! We couldn't have asked for a better location. When we arrived we were greeted with a wonderful welcome pack including cake, wine, eggs, jam and bread! We will definitely be returning in the next couple of years.. hopefully next year! WE LOVED IT!!!!

Old world charm

Glan y Morfa is quietly situated in farmland with wonderful views of the Dyfi estuary. It is very comfortable and you feel right at home as soon as you enter. The kitchen is well equipped- once we got the hang of the range cooker. It worked its magic and we felt rested and rejuvenated by the end of our stay.

The perfect family home

This house was perfect for our family holiday this year. We managed to have 3 generations and 2 dogs, who all had enough space for themselves! The house was very well equipped with all home comforts. The bumpy ride through the fields to get there made us feel off the beaten track and away from things - just what we wanted! We would definitely come back.

Coast/Beach:

Aberdyfi and it's fabulous stretches of beach is just 15 minutes drive. Wind surfing and kite surfing are extremely popular. There are other small coves nearer at Frongoch.

Travel:

Stations at Machynlleth 4 miles or Penhelig (Aberdovey) 6 miles

Distances:

Pennal has a post office, shop and the acclaimed Riverside pub/restaurant is just 1 mile. Plas Talgarth Country Club is a short walk across 2 fields and a wood where there is a lovely bar that welcomes non-residents. Machynlleth is 4 miles and Aberdovey 6 miles.

Further Details:

Machynlleth is renowned for its weekly market and numerous cafes and health food shops. Also the centre for alternative technology is between Machynlleth and Corris. The fascinating Slate mines museum with King Arthur's labyrinth is at Corris Craft museum. Riverside restaurant is only 5 minutes drive at Pennal. Supermarkets and banks are at Machynlleth and Twyn.
