Warm welcome in a thoughtfully equipped, if tired, bungalow

  • 4 of 5

Sweet little bungalow hidden away in a small village just outside of Yeovil so benefitting from a quiet location and yet with all the amenities of a sizeable town just a five minute drive away. It was not easy to find in the dark as the numbering on the road is odd. It is the first building on the left. The building itself has seen better days, the décor, furnishings and fittings have are dated, although it was all clean and comfortable. The kitchen and bathroom definitely need some tlc. What really stood out was all the carefully thought-out little bits and pieces. Absolutely everything you can imagine you might need away from home has been provided down to plasters and spare batteries. Everywhere you need a hook, a lamp, a coaster or a table there is one. The kitchen was generously provisioned with milk, tea, coffee, biscuits, scones, clotted cream, butter, bread, bacon, sausage, eggs, orange juice all freshly supplied as well as cooking oil, salt, pepper etc in the cupboards.

When we arrived it was wonderfully warm but unfortunately, while we were out the heating stopped working and it was quite chilly when we returned. We were unable to contact the owners overnight and we were leaving in the morning so this did spoil our stay a little, but we used the small electric heater provided so it wasn't too terrible, just a bit of a shame to end our stay cold when so much effort had obviously been spent to make us more than comfortable. The owners apologised sincerely later as they had been unwell, just one of those things.

Nice house, well located close to many National Trust properties, and not far away from the sea.

The owner really makes you feel welcome and at home, and is available when needed.

Enjoyable stay in pretty village

  • 4 of 5

Overall accommodation was pleasantly larger than we expected. We greatly appreciated the welcome hamper. We were very lucky with the weather and ate a few meals outside in the private patio area. Great location for visiting National Trust properties and Yeovilton air museum.
