lovely cottage

  • 4 of 5

The cottage is suited for a small to medium dog and has an enclosed rear garden with lovely trees on either side with different birds visiting. A local pub is a five minute walk. which allows dogs and serves decent food. Be aware that the shower is in a wet room in the small outhouse, but has a powerful new modern electric shower. Kitchen has an old fashioned AGA that should always be left on, this gives out heat and is oil fired. we always had the windows and door opened to remove the heat when there, a cold wet day on the Monday made it a welcome return. There is a two step height to get into the living room and the one is too high for anyone elderly though. Cottage is an ideal base to explore West Wales, near to the lovely town of Cardigan (Ceredigion) spelt in Welsh. Loft room is only for youngsters, as its stairs is quite steep. This Cottage would even be ideal as a winter stay as it has a lovely modern wood burner in the living room. It also has its own private drive with gate and has plenty of room to park. There are outbuildings to the back that are used, but we only saw one person in a week!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review, that was greatly appreciated. For any prospective guests, the outhouse (traditionally known as 'Y Gegin Fach' utility room) is attached to the cottage with access through a small porch which houses the wet room, wc, belling sink, washing machine, electric cooker, deep freeze, microwave & iron/ironing board. The Rayburn we ask to leave on as this gives a non stop supply of very hot water and a constant heat at the cottage. However, if any of our guests wish, we can gladly turn it off for you. There is an immersion heater for hot water & full central heating. The step from the kitchen to the lounge is 9.5inches. The stairs to the loft are a little steep but we do have 2 x bedrooms at ground level. I hope this helps any future guests, and Thankyou again for you helpful review. Hope to see you again in the future!

Best holiday home we have ever used 5star+

  • 5 of 5

The property was wonderful. Absolutely beautifully decorated, well considered as to everything one would need on holiday.

It was an absolute bargian and the location was 5* also- big shop a short car journey away and Poppit Sands beach about 10 minutes in the car (best UK beach I've been to) dog friendly one one side. The beach was huge and we had a bbq there one evening after swimming and sunbathing all day. The house offered complete privacy from the world, we didn't see a single person! The beds were comfy and the shower good also. It was very handy to have the option of a shower in the separate room to the right of the house as this meant we could avoid bringing sand into the house after a long day at the beach. Our only regret is we did not stay long enough! As there is plenty to do in the area.

Can I also add one thing that we found especially above and beyond and that was the booklet of local contact (that included an emergency vet, thankfully not needed but wonderful to know about!) and of course the Welsh cakes that lasted about 30seconds after they were spotted.

I would recommend this to anyone!

Thank you again Helen for a wonderful holiday!

Fantastic christmas

  • 5 of 5

Having spent the last number of years at home inCardiff for xmas,we decided to try something new. Plas y Bridell was a great choice for us,the cottage was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We were welcomed by the log burner fire in full heat and some delicious home made mince pies. The cottage itself had everything we needed, plenty of crockery and utensils to make the Christmas dinner, and we got to grips with the the raeburn very quickly and found it great to use.As we had some family joining us for Christmas,Helen(owner)provided us with an additional table so that we could all eat our Christmas dinner together(there was plenty of room for 7 of us to eat comfortably). The whole 5 days were very relaxed,we had a great time and have already booked for next Christmas,we didn't eat out anywhere as we were more than happy to stay in the cottage. The cottage is great for families, couples or even a girlie weekend. We had a great time and look forward to returning in 2015.The feel of the cottage is lovely and the attention to detail is perfect.

what a great week

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this farm cottage for a week! The welcome cake was easily the best victoria sponge we had in years! The house was immaculate. Everything we needed and much more...The house is at the end of a private road so very safe for children and very very quiet. We explored all the nearby beaches and coves, saw dolphins and walked in amazing woodland, penelli. There are plenty of attractions nearby but with the good weather we spend most of our time on the beaches... We will be back ... we actually already booked for my brother and his family for spring 2014 and only need to chose our week next summer!!
