Cosy cottage in stunning location in Loch Lomond and Trosssachs National park

Have you discovered Scotland? We have and we are trying to let as many people know about it as we can. Our holiday cottage “The Glengyle Macgregor” is situated on the private road of Loch Katrine on the north shore. Originally a steadying and bothy, recently converted into a beautiful two bedroom holiday cottage. Nestled in the heart of the Trossachs National Park with breathtaking views of Loch Katrine and the surrounding hills of Ben Lomond, Ledi and Venue. A perfect location for a holiday in one of Scotland's most picturesque areas.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Me and Samantha wanted to write a short note of appreciation and pass on our thanks for our recent stay at The MacGregor. The accommodation is first class from top to bottom. We are regular visitors to the English lakes and our stay at Glengyle was the best we have ever experienced."

Glengyle MacGregor - great getaway

  • 5 of 5

Top class luxury accommodation. Large and spacious, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. This property is well worth the journey along the private road which affords you breathtaking views of Loch Katrine along the way. The owners were really helpful and accommodating. Thank you for a great holiday.

A 5* calibre holiday let

  • 5 of 5

From the moment of arrival at Glengyle McGregor, we were impressed by the location, quality and cleanliness of this property. So often, on arriving at a rental property, there are problems not described in the 'blurb' or disappointing little elements that add up to a below-par experience - but not here. Everything is exactly as described, and, in our experience, exceeded expectations. The wonderful, cathedral-like living space, the fabulous kitchen, luxurious bathrooms and oh-so-comfy beds, all accentuated by small, but significant details such as new, gorgeously soft towels, tea-lights in innumerable, stylish holders around the property, SOFT toilet rolls in abundance and pristine bedding, all contributed to the feeling of being truly spoilt! We would ask for a few quite minor items, such as a family sized roasting tray that actually fits into the oven, a chair, or at least some door hooks, in the bathrooms where you can place your clothes, robes or towels somewhere other than on the toilet or the floor, and a second bedside cabinet plus reading lamp for the twin bedroom (we had to adopt the smallest of the nest of tables from the lounge, as well as one of the lamps, for my son, who was sharing with his brother, so he could read of an evening) But these are quite minor and very easily addressed issues, in what is without doubt, one of the best and most value for money holiday properties we have rented in our long experience of using Owners Direct. We will be back.

Owner's Response: Firstly we would like to thank you for deciding to stay with us again next year. We will of course address the suggested improvements as soon as possible. Thank you for bringing these to our attention. The twin beds were originally situated side by side sharing a bedside cabinet and we were planning planning to revert back to this and add a chest of drawers to this room. We will now consider the options taking into consideration your comments. Thanks again Sonya & Sheena

Stunning

  • 5 of 5

Lovely property, with directions on how to arrive that were clear and easy to follow. Everything was clean and well equipped (except for a hairdryer). The property was in a lovely location and I would definitely recommend the property to friends and/or family. There were several activities available but we just concentrated on the lovely walks around Loch Katrine (which was the main reason of our visit) which were all within a short driving distance. Everything was comfortable and the facilities were unto our expectations.

Lovely property, stunning location

  • 4 of 5

We had a superb fortnight staying at the Glengyle MacGregor, on arrival we were pleasantly surprised at how lovely the property was with only 2-or 3 minor issues to stop us awarding a 5 star. The first very minor one is there is no shaver point, so for those who require one- take an adapter. Secondly we could not get ANY nternet connection for the entire holiday. This would not have been a problem had we realised in advance, however we had relied upon being able to access online grocery shopping which was not possible after our intial delivery. A connected issue was that the fridge is a VERY small under counter type with a small ice box and is really not suitable for storing a weeks food. We ended up storing milk etc n a bucket of cold water outside to enable us room to keep meat etc chilled in the fridge. The nearest large supermarket is in Sterling which is approx 90 mins drive away, and the drive to a mini supermarket in Callander or Aberffoyle takes a minimum of 55 minutes on clear roads SO before you go, book several small shops on line, in advance or take a couple of cool boxes. Again it is just a question of being aware. We had also relied upon being able to access tourist information and bookings online and we were unable to do so. Again had we known in advance then we could have been prepared. Apart from these small things the property, and its location were wonderul and we were blessed by superb weather. The midges were abundant but Avon skin so soft when properly applied meant no bites!

Owner's Response: Hi just an update to respond to negative comments, we have had a satellite fitted for faster more reliable broadband, been installed since spring 2015 and no complaints so far, we have also added another small fridge/drinks cooler to the property, still no shaver point but this has been included in the information letter that us sent to guests, thank you for your comments.
