About the property

Cosy cottage in stunning location in Loch Lomond and Trosssachs National park

Have you discovered Scotland? We have and we are trying to let as many people know about it as we can. Our holiday cottage “The Glengyle Macgregor” is situated on the private road of Loch Katrine on the north shore. Originally a steadying and bothy, recently converted into a beautiful two bedroom holiday cottage. Nestled in the heart of the Trossachs National Park with breathtaking views of Loch Katrine and the surrounding hills of Ben Lomond, Ledi and Venue. A perfect location for a holiday in one of Scotland's most picturesque areas.

About Sonya Bobby & Sheena Moore

My name is Sonya Bobby I am married to Nick, we have 2 sons Flynn and Jay and a dog called Rocco. I purchased the property in 2013 together with my mother Sheena who is married to my father David.

Sonya Bobby & Sheena Moore purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Sonya Bobby & Sheena Moore chose Scotland

After holidaying at the cottage, we fell in love with the cottage and the area and after viewing lots of other properties at various locations, we couldn't believe our luck when The Glengyle MacGregor was up for sale.

It truly is one of the most picturesque areas we have ever seen, suiting all tastes whether you like to relax or enjoy hiking, cycling, fishing we feel our cottage has it all.

What makes this cottage unique

The Glengyle MacGregor is in a rural location surrounded by breathtaking scenery. There is a licensed cafe 3 miles away. The nearby towns of Aberfoyle and Callander are approximately 15 miles away but due to the single track roads the journey takes approximately 30 minutes.

Fabulous cottage and host

  • 5 of 5

Stayed the weekend in this gorgeous cottage. Sheena is the perfect host who had provided EVERYTHING you could need. I have stayed in so many places that you need to bring things like washing up liquid with you... not so here. We were even left a lovely tray of butter, jam, bread, shortbread and milk and water in the fridge.

The cottage is immaculate and very very clean. Cleaner then many 5* hotels.

We hope to visit again.

Lovely cottage in a wonderfully peaceful location.

  • 5 of 5

A lovely cottage with lots of homely touches. Being on a private road made it extremely quiet and so we could cycle and walk from the door. We probably only saw 4 vehicles on the road the whole time we were there.

The cottage was ideal for our dog. The fenced garden meant that we did not need to worry about her out in the early morning or evenings - in the dark at this time of year. We even managed to find dog friendly places to eat. The Lade Inn outside Callandar and the Pier Cafe just down the road at Stronachlachar were 2 of the best.

Apart from the road along Loch Katrine, there were plenty of places to walk and cycle. Check out the excellent Visitor Information Centre in Aberfolye for lots of ideas.

We will definitely return.

Glengyle MacGregor - great getaway

  • 5 of 5

Top class luxury accommodation. Large and spacious, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. This property is well worth the journey along the private road which affords you breathtaking views of Loch Katrine along the way. The owners were really helpful and accommodating. Thank you for a great holiday.

A 5* calibre holiday let

  • 5 of 5

From the moment of arrival at Glengyle McGregor, we were impressed by the location, quality and cleanliness of this property. So often, on arriving at a rental property, there are problems not described in the 'blurb' or disappointing little elements that add up to a below-par experience - but not here. Everything is exactly as described, and, in our experience, exceeded expectations. The wonderful, cathedral-like living space, the fabulous kitchen, luxurious bathrooms and oh-so-comfy beds, all accentuated by small, but significant details such as new, gorgeously soft towels, tea-lights in innumerable, stylish holders around the property, SOFT toilet rolls in abundance and pristine bedding, all contributed to the feeling of being truly spoilt! We would ask for a few quite minor items, such as a family sized roasting tray that actually fits into the oven, a chair, or at least some door hooks, in the bathrooms where you can place your clothes, robes or towels somewhere other than on the toilet or the floor, and a second bedside cabinet plus reading lamp for the twin bedroom (we had to adopt the smallest of the nest of tables from the lounge, as well as one of the lamps, for my son, who was sharing with his brother, so he could read of an evening) But these are quite minor and very easily addressed issues, in what is without doubt, one of the best and most value for money holiday properties we have rented in our long experience of using Owners Direct. We will be back.

Owner's Response: Firstly we would like to thank you for deciding to stay with us again next year. We will of course address the suggested improvements as soon as possible. Thank you for bringing these to our attention. The twin beds were originally situated side by side sharing a bedside cabinet and we were planning planning to revert back to this and add a chest of drawers to this room. We will now consider the options taking into consideration your comments. Thanks again Sonya & Sheena
