About the property

Cosy cottage in stunning location in Loch Lomond and Trosssachs National park

Have you discovered Scotland? We have and we are trying to let as many people know about it as we can. Our holiday cottage “The Glengyle Macgregor” is situated on the private road of Loch Katrine on the north shore. Originally a steadying and bothy, recently converted into a beautiful two bedroom holiday cottage. Nestled in the heart of the Trossachs National Park with breathtaking views of Loch Katrine and the surrounding hills of Ben Lomond, Ledi and Venue. A perfect location for a holiday in one of Scotland's most picturesque areas.

About Sonya Bobby & Sheena Moore

My name is Sonya Bobby I am married to Nick, we have 2 sons Flynn and Jay and a dog called Rocco. I purchased the property in 2013 together with my mother Sheena who is married to my father David.

Sonya Bobby & Sheena Moore purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Sonya Bobby & Sheena Moore chose Scotland

After holidaying at the cottage, we fell in love with the cottage and the area and after viewing lots of other properties at various locations, we couldn't believe our luck when The Glengyle MacGregor was up for sale.

It truly is one of the most picturesque areas we have ever seen, suiting all tastes whether you like to relax or enjoy hiking, cycling, fishing we feel our cottage has it all.

What makes this cottage unique

The Glengyle MacGregor is in a rural location surrounded by breathtaking scenery. There is a licensed cafe 3 miles away. The nearby towns of Aberfoyle and Callander are approximately 15 miles away but due to the single track roads the journey takes approximately 30 minutes.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Cottage beautiful and in a stunning location! So peaceful and accommodating and with everything we could need. Enjoyed lots of walks, runs and just chilling out. Will definitely book this cottage again. Perfect for a winter get away. We definitely recommend.

Outstanding!

I struggle for words to describe just how lovely this cottage is, and the location is fantastic. If you love dramatic scenery and Lochs this is the cottage to go to. Our family have stayed in many cottages across the UK and can hand on heart say this the nicest and well equipped cottage we have ever stayed in. It was beautifully clean, very cosy and the kitchen was equipped with everything from washing up liquid to baking trays. It is worth saying though that it is in a remote location taking around 35 minutes to reach from Aberfoyle and the nearest shops. Our family loved this though as there are loads of places you can stop for walks or little Lochs we stopped at to skim stones and let the dog have a paddle! 2 special mentions of places we went a people we met. Firstly the guys at Katrine Wheels for bike hire. Really accommodating and even borrowed a trailer for us to put the dog in on our ride! We got many strange looks along the way but it was good to do the ride along the banks of Loch Katrine and have the staff at the Pier Café in Stronachlachar pop them back on the ferry and send them back to Katrine Wheels. Second mention goes to the afore mentioned Café and staff. Lovely food, friendly staff and on the banks of the Loch with yet more breath taking scenery. The homemade cakes were delicious and the kids loved the hot chocolates. As you can probably guess we really enjoyed our week at Glengyle MacGregor. I cannot recommend this cottage enough. If you love Scotland like our family this is the place for you.

Top notch accommodation, stunning location.

  • 5 of 5

The property is furnished to a high specification. Modern yet characterful. Cosy and well equipped. Great bathrooms and the wood burner is a lovely feature. Wi-fi is fast and was useful for local information. We cycled along the road to Trossachs pier and back, we cycled to Aberfoyle and back. We walked up Ben Lomond and had great forest walk in the Queen Elizabeth wood. The pier cafe was brilliant. The peace and quiet fantastic not to mention the beautiful scenery. Strongly recommend a stay here, you will not be disappointed!

Fabulous cottage and host

  • 5 of 5

Stayed the weekend in this gorgeous cottage. Sheena is the perfect host who had provided EVERYTHING you could need. I have stayed in so many places that you need to bring things like washing up liquid with you... not so here. We were even left a lovely tray of butter, jam, bread, shortbread and milk and water in the fridge.

The cottage is immaculate and very very clean. Cleaner then many 5* hotels.

We hope to visit again.

Lovely cottage in a wonderfully peaceful location.

  • 5 of 5

A lovely cottage with lots of homely touches. Being on a private road made it extremely quiet and so we could cycle and walk from the door. We probably only saw 4 vehicles on the road the whole time we were there.

The cottage was ideal for our dog. The fenced garden meant that we did not need to worry about her out in the early morning or evenings - in the dark at this time of year. We even managed to find dog friendly places to eat. The Lade Inn outside Callandar and the Pier Cafe just down the road at Stronachlachar were 2 of the best.

Apart from the road along Loch Katrine, there were plenty of places to walk and cycle. Check out the excellent Visitor Information Centre in Aberfolye for lots of ideas.

We will definitely return.
