South Facing Coastal Holiday Cottage Spectacular Sea Views Coast Living Interior

Updated: 04-Oct-2016
Coastal Cottage in Portloe, Roseland Peninsula, Cornwall, England - Great Views Of The Harbour, Cliffs And Sea. Moments To The Coast Path, Great Restaurants Nearby

Ocean View is the perfect Cornish Cottage in a beautiful fishing village. Sit in full sun on the terrace to the front of the property with a good read or the morning papers. You can relax in the light filled "conservatory" dining area of the kitchen and watch the world go by with a morning cup of coffee or glass of wine later in the day. The Sun can shine in to the cottage all day due to its south facing location - just above the harbour - whatever the time of year. Relax in the sitting room with comfy sofas, watch the LCD TV or listen to some music from the iPod dock. There is an open fire for any chillier Autumn / Winter days. The bathroom can be found on the ground floor with bath, separate shower, WC, WHB, heated towel rail and underfloor heating. Upstairs takes you to the 2, front facing bedrooms - equipped with comfortable beds and a range of storage - both having great views out to sea. In case you need to do some washing - there is a washer / dryer in the utility area.

Perched above the crashing waves

  • 5 of 5

We were hoping for a cosy cottage with sea views and we were certainly not disappointed. As a base for coastal walks to pubs you could not have a better start point, yet if the weather appeared inclement, there was nowhere better to sit it out while waiting for the showers to pass than at the kitchen table, seemingly floating above the waves, watching gannets diving or - as happened - a seal curiously looking into the harbour.

The cottage is well equipped and always warm to return to with its night storage heaters. The bed was very comfortable. If you prefer showers to a long soak in a bath, Ocean Cottage definitely scores an easy 5 out of 5. If you prefer a bath, this was the one point where it almost loses that 5th star, as there just never seemed to be quite enough really hot water to fill it. A minor point though when all else was so perfect!

For a real treat, The Driftwood at Rosevine - now Michelin starred - is absolutely fantastic.

Although you cannot park right outside the cottage (except for unloading/loading) there is a carpark about 100m up the road with an honesty box system. We will certainly book Ocean View again if we are revisiting the area, which I hope we will!

Beautiful, well equipped cottage in great location. Fantastic sea views from all windows. Welcoming pub with excellent food within walking distance. Unfortunately no shops in village. Convenient for many lovely beaches and attractions. Would recommend for a quiet, relaxing holiday.
