A Quiet Country Cottage In A Rural Setting With Swimming Pool

Bedrooms 2
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

Cottage in Cancon, Nr. Villeneuve sur Lot, Lot et Garonne, Aquitaine, France - A Peaceful Location At The End Of A Small Country Road. There Is No Through Traffic

Chazarem is situated in the heart of the countryside with views across a peaceful wooded valley, dotted with fields of sunflowers. Built over 200 years ago it is adjacent to the main house and was originally a barn used for tobacco, plums and for storing wine. All around you will find sleepy little hilltop bastide towns built in and around the 13th century. Most have attractive arcaded squares where you can enjoy a drink and/or a meal in quiet surroundings.. However once a week on market day these towns and villages become busy bustling places selling local produce: everything from honey to cheese, wine, fruit and vegetables, not to mention chickens, ducks and rabbits. The cottage overlooks the swimming pool which is shared with the owners. We welcome children and have swings, boules and games to help keep everyone amused.

We are happy to provide a meal for you and your family on the day you arrive. In addition you will always find a starter pack in the fridge/cupboard which includes bread, butter, jam, milk, eggs, tea and coffee.

In the main house there is a double bedroom with adjoining shower room which can be annexed to the gite.

About Sue Napier

We came to France to live 14 years ago when my husband retired from the Royal Navy. We love the quiet relaxed lifestyle here - reminiscent of life in UK twenty years ago. Where we live is extremely quiet and we have excellent relationships with our various French neighbours and friends.

Sue Napier purchased this cottage in 1998

Why Sue Napier chose Lot-et-Garonne

Throughout our married life we holidayed most years in France and always wanted to live here. We immediately felt at home whenever we arrived in France.

We enjoy the slower more relaxed pace of life and the good food and wine that is available at reasonable prices.

What makes this cottage unique

We enjoy meeting new people and are happy to offer our guests dinner on their night of arrival, for a small charge. In this way we get to know them and to find out what they want from their holiday. Our house is adjacent to the gite so we are on hand with advice and help should they require it.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"This superb gite should serve as a model for all others".

"By far the best gite we have ever stayed in".

"From the moment we made the booking we knew we'd chosen a good 'un, and we weren't wrong".

Fab gite+outstanding hosts=perfect holiday!

  • 5 of 5

Located minutes away from the N21, this charming gite is exactly as described and is located at the end of a farm lane in a beautiful rural location in a very agricultural part of France. The hosts provide a warm welcome and are only too happy to provide advice and assistance if/when requested. Customer service is faultless. Spotlessly clean and thoughtfully provisioned/laid out it provided a perfect venue for a family holiday. The pool, games, garden, swings etc provided ample space and entertainment for two boys. highlights included the good sized pool, view from the gite's patio, the restaurant at st Pastour, canoeing on the Dordogne (1hr), eating ice cream in the medieval bastide at Montpazier, taking on the Parc en Ciel, visiting the Sunday market at Issigeac, night market at Fongrave and relaxing at the gite. This gite lacks for nothing and is an absolute gem. loads to do/see within a relatively short distance allowing time to be back to enjoy the afternoon sun. Family recommended to attend and visit later this year. Only one downside....leaving!

Excellent, great value and hosts that really care

  • 5 of 5

The welcome we received made us instantaneously think we made the right choice and throughout our two week stay we remained very impressed. Sue and Ken look after every detail, they give great advice on places to visit and local restaurants. The Gite is so well equipped, we divided our time between relaxing at the gite and visiting the many local sights. Set in the countryside with a great pool, the location is so very peaceful but only 5 minutes to St Pastour which has a fantastic restaurant and local store, 10 minutes away is Cancon which has all you need. We would recommend Chazarem as a wonderful place to stay for family's and couples alike.
