Apartment in Altea, Costa Blanca North, Spain - 2 minutes walk from the Plaza, 10 minutes to the beachfront

The Costa Blanca region of Spain offers year round sunshine, the white sandy beaches are peppered with unspoilt fishing villages and historic towns. Altea is the jewel of this spectacular region and our apartment is in the heart of the town. Altea is surrounded by olive groves, pine forests and the sparkling blue waters of the Mediterranean. The apartment is within easy walking distance of the magnificent Church of the Virgen del Consuelo, which can be seen from the terrace. In front of the church is a beautiful plaza lined with restaurants, cafés and bars, from this point there are numerous meandering streets leading to the beach/promenade area. Some of Altea's best Spanish and International restaurants are here. Altea has many fiestas throughout the year, with the largest and most famous being the Moors and Christians fiesta in September, there are three days of celebration, this is one festival not to be missed.

Casa Leah is a family owned apartment in Altea. Our family is based throughout Europe and the Southern Hemisphere, it is regularly used by all members whether for a quick weekend break by individuals or a more exciting larger family reunion! It has been a fantastic family holidaying spot since it's purchase and is enjoyed from grandparents through to grandchildren. There is always something new happening in the town or the local area for a some adventure! Family and friends use this property whether with their own children, friends or even on their own for some solitude. This property will remain within our family for years to come as it has happy memories and will inevitably make many more.

Lovely apartment!

Just got home after 12 nights in Casa Leah,Altea. A great apartment,with a well equipped Kitchen. The lounge/ diner was very comfortable, and it was good to have English tv...not that we go on holiday to watch tv but it was good to keep up with the recent world events! We didnt use the pool just because it was November and a little chilly, but it was only about 4 steps away from the patio! Casa Leah was well placed for the old town,Church,square etc....so many amazing places to eat and drink even if we were out of season!

Altea is on a hill,so not very good for people with mobility problems! In saying that we came home fitter than when we arrived!

Mark was a pleasure to deal with over the booking and gave us some great info on the area before we arrived. Coni the manager and next door neighbour was very pleasant and helpful on our arrival.

All in all a successful holiday! Thank you!

Lovely, central, clean apartment!

We are back after 2 weeks in Altea. We loved every minute. The apartment was perfect. Even though it's a rental it really did feel loved and lived in. A library of books, CDs and area guides. Loads of clean towels and comfy beds. Comfy couches for siestas!

We loved the family bakery at the bottom of the steps past the school as well as a soccer play area for our son. Coffee stop for us!

The pizzeria at the top of the steps was great for a sneaky snack some evenings. Staff so friendly in both places.

Two weeks was not long enough to explore and visit all the restaurants nearby so we will have to come back. The main square was only minutes away.

We walked to Albir a lot as well as taking the tram to nearby towns. It was special coming home to the old town every evening.

Perfect apartment in Altea old town

Myself, my husband and two teenage daughters have just returned from a wonderful stay at Casa Leah. The apartment was in a perfect location, 3 minutes walk from the beautiful old town on the hill with it's wonderful shops and restaurants and around 15 minutes walk to the beach. There are lots of supermarkets within walking distance. The apartment was perfect for our needs, just the right size for the 4 of us, immaculate and equipped with everything we needed. The kitchen was brilliant with dishwasher, washing machine, oven, microwave and extensive cooking equipment.

We loved being on the ground floor with the terrace and easy access to the pool which the kids used extensively. Although it is fairly small it was never busy, we had it to ourselves most of the time and it was open from 9am - 9pm.

Mark couldn't have been more helpful and friendly as a host, answering queries very promptly.

I would definitely recommend Casa Leah to any friends and family and am already thinking about when we can go back!

Good size 2 bed apartment, close to Altea old town

Thank you for letting us stay in your apartment. The 2 bed apartment was spacious and had air con which was a godsend in the August heat. The apartment was simply and nicely decorated and was clean. Each room had all the equipment you need, including umbrellas and chairs for the beach. The wifi was too weak to use in the bedrooms and Sky TV only showed the basic channels but this wasn't so much of a problem for me as it was for the kids! The kitchen was small but perfectly formed with every type of utensil required for self catering including a washing machine and small dishwasher. Coni, the neighbour and caretaker was fantastic and able to answer all our questions.

The apartment is in a block of mixed residents and holiday makers and has a relaxed feel. The pool is small but generally not used very much during the day. As the apartment is on the ground floor it has the advantage of being right next to the pool with a lovely little patio area so you can always see when it's free and sit outside under the umbrella. The apartments are next to an empty building plot although no building took place while we were there.

The underground car park is great (although tight and steep like many car parks around here!) but there is nowhere to park on the roads particularly in the evening and it keeps the car lovely and cool.

Altea old town is a quick (although up hill) walk where there are lovely restaurants and bars, all very reasonably priced. It's a lovely place to stroll about on a hot evening. A downhill walk to the sea front and there are also nice places to eat and a lovely stroll or run (if you're feeling energetic and it's not too hot!) along the promenade.

Altea beach is stony but clear so if you go down here be sure to take or buy beach shoes (approx. 7 Euros locally).

Calpe beach is about 15 minutes drive further north and has great sand and a brilliant inflatable for the older kids. There were cars everywhere when we went, but it was peak time. We found an underground car park right next to the beach which only cost about 1.80 Euros per hour which we thought was reasonable considering location.

Guadalest village and Les Fonts De L'Algar are both well worth a visit and only about 25 mins by car, but get there early in peak season as it gets busy and don't park in the first car park you come to at Algar - go a bit further and pay an extra Euro to get closer!

Great location, old town easy accessible.

We have visited Altea on many occasions, this is our second time staying in this property. It is convientienly located close to the old town, only a five minute walk to the beach front ideal for the needs of our family.

The apartment is clean and well furnished and easily maintained, the pool iis very accessible and a great facility in the intense afternoon sun, a welcome respite from the heat.

We enjoyed the restaurants and night life in Altea which are very family orientated. Overall , a very relaxing enjoyable family holiday.

This property was bought in Altea as it was a new, modern build but had considerations for its location to the historical walled Old Town-1 minute walk away. The more modern beach promenade is less than a 10 minute stroll downhill. Altea has numerous restaurants and bars ranging from quaint to truly gourmet, some are mentioned in foreign "foodie" publications. Many of these establishments have incredible views of the Mediterranean and the nearby mountain ranges with their fairy-lit towns. There are cafés and bakeries everywhere, great for a morning coffee stroll or packing for a picnic. The surrounding region has many pretty villages along the coast and inland that are famous for their foods, wines, fiestas and markets. Altea is easily accessed from Alicante or Valencia airport.

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

The surrounding land is fantastic for walking, hiking, road cycling, mountain biking and horse riding. Down at the coast you can jet and water ski, kayak and hire boats.

Road cyclists and triathletes will find Altea the perfect sport for warm weather winter training.


Altea has approximately 6km of beachfront with various coves spread throughout, it's a fantastic spot for a morning or sunset walk. From the apartment you hit Playa de la Rodo and Playa del Cap Blanche, both are a mixture of sand and white pebbles. The beach stretches south past the marina towards Albir. Heading in the opposite direction you pass the shingles of Playa del Cap Negret, a small cove called Cala del Soio and arrive at Playa de L'Olla. Continue and you arrive at Mascaret Point.


Alicante Airport is 61km and Valencia Airport is 130km from the apartment. The motorway to Altea is the A7 and the non toll road that links Alicante to Valencia is the N-332. Alicante is about a 1 hour drive and Valencia nearer 2 hours. There are numerous car hire companies operating at both airports although once in Altea a car is not essential. Both airports are accessible by a bus, taxi and there is also a scenic train service.


El Castell de Guadalest is about 30 minutes drive from Altea. Set high in the mountains, the vistas are incredible and surrounding landscape is beautiful. This mountain top village is well worth an afternoon trip.

Fuentes de Algar is about 10 minutes south of Altea. Set in the lower, green lands of the mountains, it is well known for its waterfalls. The adventurous will enjoy a swim, everyone will be happy with a spot of lunch before returning to Casa Leah.

Further Details:

Local shops - with Casa Leah situated in the heart of the old town, the choice is unlimited. We are surrounded by many artisanal food shops, gelaterias and bakeries of which La Alteana is the nearest.

Many evenings can be spent wandering different lanes browsing quality crafts, antiques, jewellery and clothing on offer in the old town .

The beach front of Altea has a more modern feel, this is the place to head for the more usual retail needs.

Finally the local market is on Tuesday by the football ground.

Restaurants - Altea has an exceptional number of places offering great food, drinks and relaxing times. This can be by the sea, up in the town square or at rooftop restaurants on the hot nights. The choice is absolutely endless and you will find gourmet mentions in your independent research on this old town that are really wonderful.

The old town has plenty of tapas bars to while away an afternoon. Modern European, gastro, Spanish & Italian are a good starting point, prices vary so you will find something to suit every budget.

The beachfront has a completely different feel, all needs are covered here too, beach bars, modern cafés, pinxtos and some great restaurants. Just pick your spot and admire the views of the Mediterranean.

We find new favourite places all the time, so before you go be sure to speak to us and we can make some recommendations, or if you prefer, just discover your own!

Supermarkets - the nearest are either Mas Y Mas in the town centre or thee is Mercadona which is larger and near the petrol station Sant Blai.

Banks - there are several in Altea, all are situated towards the promenade on Av. Alt Rei en Jaume I or Calle Conde Altea.

The main ones are:

Bankia, Bbva, Banca March, Caixabank, Cajero Automatico Banco Guipuzcoano, Cajamurcia & Banco Sabadell.

From the Owner

The property is ground floor and was deliberately chosen by the family for this reason. The courtyard at the back of the lounge continues straight out into the communal pool area. This is a great if you have children or just want to have a quick dip. Also this region of Spain is well travelled by cyclists whether in winter training or during the season. Being a ground floor apartment the access for bikes straight out onto the street has been great for the keener family members! Due to the great location local convenience stores are only a shot walk away making unnecessary to constantly rely on a vehicle. There are many local beaches, Altea, La Villa Joyosa and Calpe are our favourites. Beach towels and other picnic equipment, including chairs are supplied so you can travel light!

After booking Casa Leah and decide you need an extra apartment, please ask as we maybe able to assist you. Wi-Fi is available at a cost of €10 per week which is payable to the key holder on arrival. Outside: Opening the rear door to the apartment you enter a small wall/gated patio area that has a bougainvillea at each end. There is a table, four chairs and a retracting washing line. We have spent many an evening dining al fresco! On the other side of the gate is the communal patio which has a few plants and plenty of space to stretch out by the pool. At the centre of this area is the shared pool which is perfect for cooling off before getting ready for the day ahead or a quick dip when dressing for the evening. It is unheated and approximately 5m by 3m, the bottom is on a gradient. Utility Room: Not applicable. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The property is cleaned prior to being rented.
