About the Owner

Hi,Let me introduce ourselves we are Joy and John and live in the village of Llanishen in Monmouthshire. Over the years we talked about buying a home in the sun with the intention of someday retiring there or, at least spending the very bleakest months (January to March) of the year there. We first visited Lanzarote in 2009 when we holidayed there with our son and my parents.Over the following years we holidayed there many times and fell in love with the Island. We also run a local village pub (Carpenters Arms) and we have just had two 5* holiday cottages built alongside the pub.

We had a great time, the house and village are lovely. Only down side was the travel cot was missing. The beds are comfortable. Easy to get to places to visit. Beware of pigs in the forest, husband came across 2 crossing the road.

great house

  • 5 of 5

a well-equiped and very comfortable house; perfect for a family! The surroundings are lovely and the house is also well-situated if you want to explore Wales, the Cotswolds or Bristol. The pub is very pleasant, its owners welcoming and warm, and on Friday evenings, you feel at home, it's family-like! To put it in a nutshell, a place to go and come back. Everybody is friendly and ready to help.

A very pleasant stay

  • 5 of 5

The property was in a nice location. We were surrounded by forest so easy access to walking paths. Great places near-by to visit and very good eating places. Property provided a modern well equipped base and the free wi-fi was a huge bonus with two teenagers. It would have been handy to have a guide to location of local supermarkets as it took us two days to find Lidl but this was our only criticism.

A beautiful property in a wonderful location and amazingly well equipped. Forest View is a very apt name as you can see the forest from every window. It was as good as we expected from the description and pictures. We really weren't disappointed. There were plenty of towels, crockery and information to make the most of your stay. The next door neighbour was friendly and helpful. There are some delightful walks right from the door. Unfortunately for us, the local pub, only yards from the house was just changing hands so no food available that week. We tried pubs in Cinderford and Parkend which were ok, basic food and not too expensive. We would highly recommend Aunt Martha's Victorian Tea room. An experience not to be missed and just up the road. We also visited Lydney park gardens, especially beautiful at this time of year. It was a great base for us to spend some time together.

Forest view was immaculate. Beautifully decorated everything you would want from a holiday rental. It is in a perfect location for visiting all local attractions. I can't recommend this property enough. We will go back there again. Lovely walks around without using the car. Nice friendly pub at end of road doing good pub food.Enjoyed Heritage centre nearby which we walked to also Puzzlewood worth a visit at coleford. Ross on Wye nice little town with walks by the river. Symonds Yat has lovely walks through the Forest.>Another thing that made our holiday was that the people rundabout were so friendly.
