Formerly my home, and just revamped top to bottom, you’ll be in one of Edinburgh’s most smart, relaxed and young-at-heart neighbourhoods. Marchmont has always been characterised by academics, professionals and Edinburgh University students living easily side-by-side, and so it remains - Marchmont’s allure is as strong as ever. The streets are peppered with independent shops and eclectic coffee stops so you’ll want for nothing locally. however the blissful green expanse of Bruntsfield Links and The Meadows are two minutes away. Walking across the latter (under the gaze of Arthur’s Seat to the east) will see you in the city centre amidst all of Edinburgh’s attractions in 15 pleasant minutes. Accessed via a clean and well-lit shared stairway (kept secure by an entryphone system), the flat is happily only one flight up. And once inside you’ll appreciate the restrained but luxurious surroundings, the extraordinary period features, the high ceilings and sheer scale of the accommodation.

Notes:
Marchmont is a vibrant & free-spirited neighbourhood which is very at ease with itself, being smart but unpretentious - and the young-at-heart will feel instantly comfortable The flat is very dear to us having been owned for 20 years, and having been home. This, and the good relationship we have with our excellent friendly neighbours, means it's never going to be a party pad so it won't be for everyone. But respect that view and you'll find an endearing home-from-home to which we feel sure you'll want to return. Sadly at this time we can't accept pets, and do note that the apartment is strictly non-smoking. Do get in touch for a friendly response to any questions you might have, and if you decide it's for you we wish you a good time and wonderful memories. And haste ye back! On your arrival the property will be set up with fresh bed linen, towels and dish towels. You can wash anything easily any time, but for longer stays extra linen can be provided by prior arrangement. A quiet and warmly-lit den off the hall provides a sanctuary for working, reading, study or quiet time. Blackout blinds throughout, whilst the hall provides loads of clothes-hanging space and a walk-in storage cupboard.

Well-furnished, comfortable apartment in an upscale neighborhood

We are Homeaway/VRBO hosts ourselves, and are therefore very picky about where we stay. We went to Edinburgh to visit our daughter who is studying at the University, but would recommend this place for anyone visiting the city. From the beginning, Martin & Weng were professional and communicative. The apartment is located in an upscale neighborhood, a 15-20 minute walk (or 5-pound cab ride) to the University, the Royal Mile and other tourist attractions. There are supermarkets and some very good restaurants in the neighborhood, as well as the Meadows park, which is perfect for a long walk or run.

In the US, we would consider the apartment to be on the second floor. The apartment was clean, quiet and well-decorated, with modern appliances in a historic brownstone building. On one side, it looks out over a green back yard. Martin and Weng had breakfast food and wine ready for us in the kitchen when we arrived. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of closet space. We even enjoyed the books in the large living room.

We would highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient place to call home in Edinburgh.

Spacious, beautiful flat in Edinburgh.

We loved staying in Martin and Weng's gorgeous flat in Edinburgh. It was beautifully decorated and on a quiet street that was within walking distance of everything. Martin & Weng were so nice and thought of everything to make our stay wonderful. I highly recommend this place to stay in Edinburgh.

Perfect

Excellent one bedroom flat with everything you need for a perfect stay. Nicely renovated in a quiet central location and just far enough away to still be able to walk to the tourist spots and hurly burly of downtown. The hosts are immediately available and exceptionally kind and helpful. We would definitely stay there again and highly recommend the flat for long or short visits to Edinburgh.

Great location for Edinburgh

This was my first experience with HomeAway and if every experience is like this, I will be using this website more and more. Martin & Weng were great hosts, before we got there they were communicative and clear about our upcoming visit, where to get the keys, what to expect when we got there, etc. And when we got there we found a flat that was stylish, well-maintained, clean and with functional. We had to make a trip to the grocery for personal toiletries but that was all we needed. The bed was comfortable, the art in the flat was really cool, the wifi worked great and the location is spectacular. We were a 15 minute walk from everything we wanted to see and there were shops all around the area. Martin & Weng are extremely responsive and whenever we needed to reach out to them we got a quick response. I'd highly recommend their place in Edinburgh, it's a total winner.

Fantastic flat,fantastic location

The flat was everything and more,it is decorated to a very high standard with great attention to detail.The owners Martin & Weng were in contact with us to make sure we had a wonderful stay. The welcome pack set us up nicely on arrival and could let us get right along to the rugby.We have already recommended the flat to family and friends for its great location and luxurious living.The fact you are so close to the green open spaces of The meadows and yet also close enough to all the wonderful shops,bars and restaurant is a bonus.The Cameo Retro Cinema,The Union Canal,The Library(,fantastic food and drink) are all worth a visit.If like me you like cask ale nearly all the pubs stock a great variety.There are many great places to eat and drink, at all price ranges.It is our first time staying in this area of Edinburgh but will not be our last and we will definitely be booking up with Martin & Weng again.

Changeover days are completely flexible, but we would appreciate you arriving no earlier than 15 30 on arrival day, and kindly vacating by 10 30 on the day of departure. Any variance must be by prior agreement please, but we will always try to help.

Notes on prices:
Stay more than 6 nights = 1 night free, more than 13 nights = 2 nights free. Payments by bank transfer or personal cheque in £GBP sterling please. In the case of last-minute bookings, funds must be cleared before access can be given. A £200 Damage Deposit is required for very serious damage or very excessive cleaning, refunded within a day or two of your departure. Please note our cancellation policy and kindly insure yourself against cancellation.
