Apartment on The Meadows, Central Edinburgh - easily walkable to everywhere, moments from Edinburgh’s incomparable Meadows and Bruntsfield Links

Formerly my home, and just revamped top to bottom, you’ll be in one of Edinburgh’s most smart, relaxed and young-at-heart neighbourhoods. Marchmont has always been characterised by academics, professionals and Edinburgh University students living easily side-by-side, and so it remains - Marchmont’s allure is as strong as ever. The streets are peppered with independent shops and eclectic coffee stops so you’ll want for nothing locally. however the blissful green expanse of Bruntsfield Links and The Meadows are two minutes away. Walking across the latter (under the gaze of Arthur’s Seat to the east) will see you in the city centre amidst all of Edinburgh’s attractions in 15 pleasant minutes. Accessed via a clean and well-lit shared stairway (kept secure by an entryphone system), the flat is happily only one flight up. And once inside you’ll appreciate the restrained but luxurious surroundings, the extraordinary period features, the high ceilings and sheer scale of the accommodation.

Easing ourselves gently into semi-retirement means we have time to indulge the passion we have for our home. Marchmont is a vibrant & free-spirited neighbourhood which is very at ease with itself, being smart but unpretentious - and the young-at-heart will feel instantly comfortable The flat is very dear to us having been owned for 20 years, and having been home. This, and the good relationship we have with our excellent friendly neighbours, means it's never going to be a party pad so it won't be for everyone. But respect that view and you'll find an endearing home-from-home to which we feel sure you'll want to return. Sadly at this time we can't accept pets, and do note that the apartment is strictly non-smoking. Do get in touch for a friendly response to any questions you might have, and if you decide it's for you we wish you a good time and wonderful memories. And haste ye back! On your arrival the property will be set up with fresh bed linen, towels and dish towels. You can wash anything easily any time, but for longer stays extra linen can be provided by prior arrangement. A quiet and warmly-lit den off the hall provides a sanctuary for working, reading, study or quiet time. Blackout blinds throughout, whilst the hall provides loads of clothes-hanging space and a walk-in storage cupboard.

Wonderful accommodations. Location is very convenient to Old Town. Kitchen had all we needed to prepare our meals. The neighborhood surrounding the home had plenty of grocery stores and small cafes. On days we didn’t feel like walking into town there’s 2 bus stops and a taxi stand across the street.

Beautiful property in a great location

The communication from booking to arriving at the flat was great, we knew exactly where we were going and was not disappointed when we arrived. The apartment was immaculate, beautifully decorated and had everything we could have possibly wanted. The location is perfect just a 20 minute stroll into town across the meadows. There are some great cafe's and bars within easy walking distance of the flat and we felt like locals for our stay. Would not hesitate in recommending the property at all, we will be back :)

Fabulous apartment

This apartment is fabulous. I had high hopes as the photos looked great, but the apartment exceeded my expectations. The space is lovely, the rooms feel grand with high ceilings and huge windows, yet the apartment still feels cosy, homely and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need and a few generous extras, which we very much appreciated. The location is great with the Old Town being a short walk away through The Meadows.

Martin and Weng are great hosts, friendly, helpful and professional.

We loved our stay in this apartment and would happily recommend it to others and would very much like to stay here again in the future.

Book it. You will not be disappointed.

Perfect stay in every season

This was our third time in this wonderful apartment and as you can read in our previous two recommendations, we love this beautiful place. It is just fabulous. Everything is very well equipped to a superb standard. The modern rooms have high ceilings and are huge, still the furniture is cosy and comfy. The living room has a great flatscreen tv and the WiFi is excellent. The kitchen has everything you could wish for including a wash-dryer. You will find such basics as tea, sugar, jam, spices... The bathroom and bedroom both are facing the garden and are very quiet. The apartment has very tasteful and detailed interior, we loved the art works, the photographs and also the great bookshelf.

The location itself is perfect. Shops, cafés, pubs and take-aways are all within minutes reach. Two bus stops (24 and 41) are very close and you will find a taxi stand opposite the apartment. And let´s not forget the beautiful park "The Meadows" in two minutes walking distance. Especially in spring when the cherry trees are blooming it´s a pink coloured heaven. Ideal for walks, running or even doing Yoga. And on your way back home you can get one of the best Pastrami Sandwiches in Edinburgh from "Victor Hugo´s".

Last but not least you can´t ask for nicer hosts then Martin and Weng. From the beginning to the end, they are with you every step of the journey and anything you need will be done if possible. Don´t hesitate any longer and have a great time in this fantastic apartment.

Car: not necessary


The East Lothian coast with its myriad walks, links courses and pretty coastal towns can be reached quickly by car or train, as can the East Neuk of Fife with a string of charming fishing villages.


Edinburgh Airport (with flights to Europe, and multiple daily flights to London) is reached by a cheap & regular bus service stopping at the West End, Princes Street, Waverley Station.

Edinburgh's mainline rail stations serve the entire UK.

Car use isn't required in Edinburgh since everywhere is walkable, but drivers will find paid on-street parking in surrounding streets (Mon-Fri) and free on-street parking a short walk away. Long-term parking is also found in the city's main car parks.


Since Edinburgh is a compact city and a joy to walk around, distances are irrelevant given the proximity to the city centre. However those wishing to explore further afield will find Glasgow, Stirling, Perth and St Andrews within easy reach by car or public transport, with the majestic Highlands and the rural Scottish Borders quite feasible for day trips for those with a car.

Changeover Day:
Changeover days are completely flexible, but we would appreciate you arriving no earlier than 15 30 on arrival day, and kindly vacating by 10 30 on the day of departure. Any variance must be by prior agreement please, but we will always try to help.

Notes on prices:
Stay more than 6 nights = 1 night free, more than 13 nights = 2 nights free. Payments by bank transfer or personal cheque in £GBP sterling please. In the case of last-minute bookings, funds must be cleared before access can be given. A £200 Damage Deposit is required for very serious damage or very excessive cleaning, refunded within a day or two of your departure. Please note our cancellation policy and kindly insure yourself against cancellation.

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
