Farmhouse With Lovely Secluded Garden, Private Pool And Magnificent Rural Views

Overview

Property

Updated: 18-Nov-2016
In Beautiful Countryside Ideal For Walking, Biking, Kayaking & Fishing near famous market town St Antonin Noble Val

A picturesque traditional French farmhouse in a small hamlet with secluded garden set in glorious countryside. The house is at the end of the lane which then turns into a grass track through fields and copses so no traffic. Perfect for those searching a peaceful rural retreat but with plenty of nearby attractions within a short drive. It is also only a few minutes drive from a village with a boulangerie and general store and 15 minutes from a large supermarket.

The kitchen is spacious with seating for 8, fully equipped and leads into the lounge with large comfortable sofas and log burner. Stairs lead up to two spacious bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. Downstairs is a third bathroom and two more bedrooms each with French windows giving direct access to the garden and pool.

The garden is totally private but has great views over the surrounding countryside. Climbing roses cover the walls of the house and within the garden is a small orchard with cherry, plum and fig tree, several shady spots and hideaways as well as a gravelled parking area and a separate area where you can play pétanque or table tennis.

Roman steps lead into the private 9mx4m salt-water pool which is of uniform depth and is equipped with an alarm. There are 6 sun-loungers for sun-bathing round the pool. There is also a raised terrace overlooking the pool with a large table with seating for 8, parasols and a built-in BBQ.

And if you don't feel like cooking in the evening, you can take a 15 minute walk through country lanes to a nearby auberge and have a delicious meal made with local products. Then stroll back as the sun sets, light the pool for a final dip or just lie back on one of our loungers and watch the stars drift by in a clear night sky.

About the Owner

We have lived in a city for most of our lives but have always yearned for a secluded peaceful place in the countryside where we could take the family, as far away as possible from traffic and the hassle it entails.

What we wanted was somewhere close to interesting places to visit, good local produce and markets and a range of sporting activities for all the family. But we also wanted somewhere where we could find plenty to enjoy just staying at home for the day.

We finally found the house which fulfils all those criteria and more. No cars pass our house except those of the local farmer. Yet there are scores of things to do within a short drive.

Fantastic Holiday, beautiful Farmhouse and stunning surroundings

  • 5 of 5

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at this beautiful farmhouse. The house was exactly as per the photos and descriptions and the house was very clean and well presented. The pool was excellent especially as the weather was very hot so we all needed to cool down. The caretakers were very polite and helpful giving us some usual hints and tips about where to go and what to see.

We ventured out to Caylus for lunch and other local villages which was very pretty and went every day to the local Boulangerie which was well stocked and baked daily delicious bread and cakes.

All in all a fantastic break, very relaxing and we will certainly book again.

A beautiful holiday home

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay in this well-equipped, beautifully kept stone house. Although private and tucked away in a small hamlet, the house is only a 5 minute drive away from the village and is within 30 minutes drive from many beautiful medieval towns, which host their own market. There are also places to eat/buy delicious local produce nearby. The kitchen has everything you need and is a pleasure to cook in. The garden and orchard are lovely to relax in, and we very much enjoyed playing all the games provided (table tennis, boules, Kubb). The owners were very welcoming and communicative, and provided a lot of useful information on different kinds of activities in the region. Finally, while the pool was very welcome on hot days, we also found the interior of the house very cosy on days where the weather was less cooperative. We thoroughly recommend staying here!

Gorgeous French Farmhouse

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful holiday in this beautiful farmhouse. If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing break, this holiday home is just perfect. The location is idyllic with beautiful views and only one neighboring house. The garden is lovely, we enjoyed soaking up the sun, lazing in the pool, playing table tennis and eating the delicious food bought from the lovely local markets. The house is gorgeous. It is very well maintained and equipped with plenty of space and very comfy beds.

The local village is a nice country lane walk away and the little friendly shop sells delicious bread and croissants made on the premises. We took a drive a bit further afield to the stunning Saint Cirq Lapopie and amazing Cordes Sur Ciel. Both are well worth a visit and are about a 45 minute drive away.

We really appreciated the excellent house guide with included very helpful, local information.

Shelby was very helpful and replied to my emails promptly.

I would thoroughly recommend it!

This was out third stay at this delightful property, which speaks for itself! Everything about it was delightful - well-maintained bathrooms and kitchen, comfortable beds, spacious living room, beautiful gardens and pool. We enjoyed walking in the idyllic countryside, but also appreciated the easy drive into nearby towns for shopping and dining out. Perfect in every way.

Fabulous Home

  • 5 of 5

This is one of the best holiday homes we've stayed in. A gorgeous, peaceful location and the house had absolutely everything we needed. The kitchen is brilliantly appointed with everything needed to make gourmet meals from local market produce. The pool and games area are wonderful for sunny afternoon relaxing and play!

Location

From the Owner

The house is in the beautiful Tarn-et-Garonne area of south west France. It benefits from a near Mediterranean climate and whether it's walking or biking through the lush green countryside, ambling through medieval villages, visiting the many bustling farmers' markets, fishing or canoeing through rapids, you will not be at a loss for something to do. The area is well-known for its gastronomic specialities such as truffles, duck and goose delicacies, mushrooms, white garlic, Reine-Claude plums, Quercy melons, Moissac cherries, saffron and chestnuts. You can also visit local producers by foot from our house - see the Gascon pigs lazing in the woods or watch the goats being milked to make Rocamadour cheese. The lovely medieval towns of Villefranche-de-Rouergue (22km) & St Antonin Noble Val (24km) both have large markets which rival any in France. There are also several beautiful hilltop towns nearby: Najac (20 km), St Cirq-LaPopie (27km) & Cordes sur Ciel (40km) as well as the famous capital of the Tarn - Albi (64km).
