Four star detached holiday cottage, with glorious views of Sabden Valley.

Updated: 24-Oct-2016
Cottage on hillside Sabden farm, near Clitheroe, Ribble Valley, Lancashire, England - Peaceful Location With Panoramic Views. In Its Own Grounds, Less Than A Mile From Sabden Village

Look out of Cobden View windows for panoramic views of Sabden Valley. Surrounded by the fields of Cobden Farm, you can see sheep and lambs grazing, spot rabbits, deer, foxes, hawks, and lots of different birds. Walks straight from the door then criss-cross the valley. So set off from Cobden View and enjoy our beautiful countryside on foot. Pendle Hill is a must for walkers of any age. Ours is a popular area too for cyclists and horse riders, as well as families, couples and friends who want to explore the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, nearby Clitheroe with its castle keep and visitor centre and the Ribble Valley. As well, Cobden View is ideally located to visit lovely places not far away, such as Skipton, Ribchester, the Yorkshire Dales, Bronte Country just over the border, plus the historic towns of East Lancashire. Fancy a visit to the seaside? Blackpool is less than 40 miles away. Southport too. The attractions of Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds are an hour away. There's a bus stop at our farm road entrance. And a rail/bus interchange at Clitheroe.

To get to Cobden View at Cobden Farm, use postcode BB7 9DX and turn onto the farm road opposite Lamb Row, Whalley Road, Sabden. Follow the sign for Cobden Farm Bed and Breakfast (that's us too). Up the hill, then to the right. You'll soon see Cobden View on its hillside location on our working farm.

Wonderfully equipped self-catering cottage, extremely comfortable and a real find. Dog-friendly and there are walks starting at the farm. Great views of Pendle. We couldn't have wished for a more friendly and helpful owner!

Even better than expected.

Cobden View is a very clean and comfortable cottage with views from most windows. It is spacious and well equipped. The owners gave us a friendly welcome and the eggs, scones and milk were much appreciated as was the advice on local walks. We found plenty of things to do in the area from walks on Pendle Hill and the Ribble Valley, visiting the coast at .Formby, Southport and the 'Iron men' at Crosby, the choice is endless and varied. There are plenty of pubs and tea rooms to be found. A very relaxing break.

Owner's Response: It's great to know that you enjoyed your stay at Cobden View - and exploring our beautiful area. It was a pleasure to meet you both - and thanks for inspiring us to go and see the 'Iron Men' again (hopefully when the tide is out this time!). Thank you, too, for taking the time to write your review.

Cottage with a view

  • 5 of 5

Cobden View was possibly the best self catering accommodation we have ever had. It is ideally situated for exploring an area which despite its closeness to Manchester, Burnley etc is beautiful. Many people we spoke to have never visited or even heard of the Forest of Bowland. It is a very good centre for walking. It is not really very accessible without a car but once there there are walks to do straight from the property. For people who like to get out and walk it is ideal - perhaps if we had had a wet week we might have found ourselves a bit short of things to do. Clitheroe and Gawthorpe Hall are near by and well worth visiting but if you are looking for big tourist type attractions and night life it is probably not for you.

The Facilities were excellent and the property was very clean and well maintained. The owner was really welcoming and friendly. I would thoroughly recommend this cottage to others looking for a quiet getaway. You could spend all week just looking at the view from the living roon window!

Stunning Views

  • 4 of 5

A lovely, homely cottage in the middle of a working farm. Very welcoming and just right for exploring the surrounding countryside and Pendle Hills. Loved being amongst the sheep and the chooks. The owners made us and our dog very welcome, especially liked the scones and fresh eggs (not forgetting the milk in the fridge).

Lovely garden with a patio with stunning views. Great if you like birdwatching. We watched a pair of greater spotted woodpeckers, a nuthatch, a whitethroat, nesting bluetits and great tits plus the hundreds of swallows swooping in and around,

Comfortable accommodation, all mod cons, very quiet, thoughtfully put together. Only draw back for us was the rather bumpy ride up the farm track to the cottage, not good in a family saloon but we survived! Certainly wouldn't let it put us off staying again in the future.

A great holiday location!
