Treth House is a new California-style eco-home in Wheal Friendly Gardens, a secluded hillside site approached by a private road. Wheal Friendly itself - an early 19th century tin mine pump house - overlooks the Gardens from the top of the hill. The whole area has World Heritage status. The house is brand new having been completed in November 2013. It is finished and furnished to a very high standard. The open-plan living area has two French windows with sea views opening on to a large raised deck that faces directly towards the sea, and also looks down the wooded valley towards Wheal Kitty on top of the opposite hill. If you're into surfing, walking or just chilling out, Treth House is the ideal base.

We are an Anglo-French couple with a foot in both camps. My wife Josette is french and recently retired after 26 years of loyal service with British Airways, most of it with the Concorde Customer Service Team. My name is Roy and I'm an 'Internet entrepreneur'. As I work from home we are lucky enough to be able to move between France and England, enjoying the best of both. We both love peace and the beauty of nature, as well as music and movies. We've also fallen in love with Cornwall and particularly St Ages, and Treth House gives us a uniquely beautiful situation with breathtaking views in a friendly location.

Immaculate property. Everything here you could need. We had a great time in lovely St Agnes. Enjoyed the local beaches and the walking from the front door (coast path in 5 mins) was a daily treat. Comes highly recommended from us.

Excellent - will defintely return.

What a wonderful property to spend a holiday in with real attention to detail and first class luxury accommodation. It is nested in a truly magnificent setting high above Trevaunance Cove with views out to Wheal Kitty - furnished to an extremely high standard with all mod cons including super-fast broadband. From here you can take breath-taking walks to Perranporth, 6 miles, and Chapel Porth, along jaw-droppingly steep cliff paths with amazing vistas at each step. St Agnes village is a short walk up the footpath close to the house where you will find all amenities including many good eateries.

Treth House is a very nice, cosy, welcoming home on a great, quiet location between Trevaunance Cove and the village of St Agnes. We loved coming home after a good walk along the coastpath or elsewhere. Treth is very complete, it even supplies about every kitchen tool you could need! The beds and the bathrooms are very good too.

On our first day we spotted a huge grey seal at Trevaunance cove, very close to the beach and we knew it was going to be a great week. And it was indeed: the weather was fantastic and the surroundings so beautiful. St Agnes isn't spoilt by tourism and we loved all the old engine houses in the area.

Best yet

We booked Treth House as a base for our Annual South West Coast path walk which we have been walking for the past ten years and have stayed in many cottages from Poole to Minehead. Treth house was everything we wanted it and needed it to be and much more. We will certainly be rebooking this beautiful little house on the hill - our favourite so far, and we can't wait to be back there again.

Wonderful stay

Whole family loved Treth House. Modern, stylish, clean, great views and nice and quiet. Amazing stars at night. Kids (11 and 14) loved having TV in their bedroom! Just a short walk to Trevaunance Cove, made it very convenient for regular surfing and beaching. Good pubs nearby and St Agnes shops also conveniently close. Also lots of good walks that we did not need a car to get to. Won't say any more as it will get too booked up!

The Best!

We had a wonderful time staying at Treth House in St Agnes. It provides comfort, is in a great location, a very high standards of cleanliness, a high standard of decor, light and spacious, and the vista is simply stunning.

Everything was perfect, every detail had been thought about and provided. The comfort of the beds ensured a good night's sleep and the soft sofa's were relaxing at the end of a busy day out about the best village in Cornwall. Breakfast out on the decking in the morning sun was a lovely start to the day. We would recommend Treth House, but want want to keep it a secret as we want to ensure that we can book it again very soon, as we would love to come back and enjoy it all over again.

Location

From the Owner

We visited some friends who had bought a cottage in St Agnes and instantly fell in love with the village and its surroundings. St Agnes is small enough to have its own personality but is also well-served for shops, pubs, restaurants etc. What really made it for us is the stunning walks both in the country but especially along the cliffs. The views are magnificent and the sea majestic. We were lucky enough to find Treth House and decided to go for it! It's quiet and secluded yet just a short walk from the beach and commerce. For us it's a perfect location and we look forward to sharing it with you!

Coast/Beach:

Trevaunance Cove and beach is less than five minutes' walk. There are restaurants, the Driftwood Spars pub and Lewsey-Lou's fish-and-chip shop. There are magnificent cliff-top walks in both directions. Chapel Porth, a National Trust area, is less than 10 mins' drive (about 50 mins' walk) and the vast golden sands of Portreath about 15 mins' drive.

Travel:

Treth House is about 10 mins' from the Chiverton Cross roundabout on the A30. Truro, the county town of Cornwall, is about 15 mins' drive and has a good railway station. The nearest airport is Newquay about 35km away.

  • Outside: There is plenty of parking space, and the grounds are shared. The house has about 80 sq.m. of decking. There is a BBQ and a garden table with six chairs. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen and towels (not beach towels) are included and there is a cleaning service at the end of the rental period. Tenants are asked to leave the house in a clean and presentable state. Additional cleaning service by agreement.
