Cottage in Blore, Nr. Ashbourne, Derbyshire, England - A Rural Haven Just 4 Miles From The Georgian Market Town Of Ashbourne

Dovedale Lodge is set in the beautiful grounds of the Old Rectory next to the Grade 1 listed parish church, which is over 1,000 years old. With two double bedrooms and two bathrooms, the property provides luxurious accommodation for a family of four, or for two couples; a fully modernised eat-in kitchen and a spacious sitting room complete the accommodation. A great Easter break (2016)

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is set in a beautiful location and really peaceful. We had everything we needed and the owner was really welcoming. We enjoyed several walks around the area, and it was amazing to be able to walk directly from the cottage to Dovedale. We would thoroughly recommend and plan to return ourselves.

Very comfy and well equipped cottage

  • 5 of 5

Dovedale Lodge is one of the most well equipped and luxurious cottages we have ever stayed in. All the appliances and fittings were of the best quality and the cottage was warm, cosy and dry even though we experienced a lot of rain. We found the beds very comfy too. It was only a short drive from some of the area's main attractions - we visited Chatsworth and walked down beautiful Dove Dale during our short stay. The cottage was situated in a quiet, peaceful village but close enough to supermarkets and shops. We really cannot find fault with it and would recommend the cottage to others if asked.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dovedale Lodge which was perfectly located

for our visit, near the charming market town of Ashbourne but nestled in the

hills around Dovedale, all quiet and peaceful. The cottage is tastefully

furnished and we all slept like logs on the very comfortable beds. The

kitchen was especially well equipped with all mod cons and the downstairs

shower was superb - it looks as though it has been recently renovated. The

wifi worked very well and the sitting room was very comfortable and warm. We

were able to visit all the major houses in the Peak District easily in two

days - and found the cottage well located for this. The visitor notes were

also most helpful and pointed us in the right direction. As walkers, we

thoroughly enjoyed the walks around Blore and the magnificent views of

Dovedale and beyond. All in all a great week for my family and I and we

went home thoroughly refreshed. We have stayed in many rental houses over

the years but never in one so comfortable and well equipped. We will

definitely return as the children especially enjoyed all the attractions,

but sadly the theme park at Alton Towers was closed. It opens in the Spring and we will be back to visit !

comfortable retreat

  • 4 of 5

Lovely warm and well equipped property with excellent comfy beds.

We were visiting friends/family locally and it was a great base.

Loved the downstairs bedroom and bathroom with shower for anyone with limited mobility. More information about domestic issues would have enabled us to be a bit more 'green', but owners were very helpful.

We would certainly book again.

Peak District Cottage

  • 5 of 5

A lovely cottage- comfortable and very well equipped, clean, well-maintained and tastefully furnished with a number of extra touches which made our stay very enjoyable (eg local information folder, selection of books and helpful supplies in kitchen such as tinfoil, dishwasher powder etc.). A great location for walking, sightseeing and cycling and owners were very helpful and friendly. Only one negative comment is that the shower was not up to the standard of the rest of the property and appliances. Overall highly recommended.

excellent property

  • 4 of 5

The owners have refurbished to a high standard, are friendly and helpful. We enjoyed 5 days and found the area to be full of interest, the property is well located with wonderful views and complete rural isolation! Heaven.

As already mentioned the ground floor shower is not in keeping with the high quality of everything else. However, we did feel it not worth complaining about.

We did have an appliance issue, but almost instantly, both Roger and Victoria appeared to ensure resolution was speedy. Thanks.

We ate out midday and alternate evenings. What a pleasure to eat at 5 different places and find each to be friendly, welcoming and staff who were proud to serve us!

Otherwise we ate at the property which is extremely well equipped with high quality cooker, microwave and fridge freezer. There is also an excellent washing machine but we had no reason to use it.

Wifi signal was reliable, good TV and DVD. Super comfy beds ...... Best sleep in weeks.

Thanks to both Roger and Victoria for making us feel welcome and for superb accommodation.
