Furnished as a home, not a holiday let, Village House is elegantly furnished with Cypriot antiques, Turkish handmade carpets — and yet, with its traditional carved beams and old marble floors, it has everything you need for modern living — air-conditioned bedrooms, microwave, DVD, satellite TV, CD radio, telephone and free 24-hour wireless Internet for those guests who want to bring their own laptops. Designed for all-year living, its thick three-feet walls, five-speed ceiling fans and a/c bedrooms keep it cool even in high summer. And to make sure you won’t have a power cut we have a silent, automatic UPS system installed which gives you instant switch-over for up to 10 hours. It also eliminates surges and spikes.

After a couple of holidays there fell in love with the village — so bought and restored an old stone-built Cypriot house in the heart of the village, a few minutes from the 13th century abbey and just a stroll away from the nearby restaurants. Yet it is also quiet — no passing traffic. Bellapais, between the sea and the mountains, hosts international music festivals twice a year in its abbey, and can lay claim to being the most attractive village in the whole island, not just the North. It is always a delight to go back there on family holidays — and to know that our guests enjoy it as much as we do...
A four minute walk to Belapais Abbey, the centre of Belapais, perhaps the most beautiful village in the whole of Cyprus.
What a beautiful home and what a pleasure to be there! Loved the house and loved the village...Chris & Diana
Thank you for a really great holiday and the delight of having such a wonderful home for two weeks. A very special village and enjoyed every moment of it...Brian and family
Just perfect, and really spacious so we all had our private space when we wanted it. Six of us dining at night on the terrace overlooking the floodlit pool — terrific — we'll certainly be back...Matthew/Barbara

Further Details:
Bellapais — made famous by Lawrence Durell's Bitter Lemons — is arguably the most beautiful and historic village in all Cyprus, and has as its heart the 13th-century abbey of the same name, floodlit at night, and surrounded by beautiful gardens. There are walks in the wooded mountains above the village, and the sea and the historic Crusader port of Kyrenia lie below, just ten minutes by car. There are six good restaurants in the village, and in early summer and autumn there are international classical music festivals in the Abbey itself.
Northern Cyprus is the most beautiful part of the island — much of it still undeveloped — with its coastal region lying below a range of mountains and with the historic Crusader port of Kyrenia as its centrepiece, and with three great mountain-top castles as the jewels in its crown. The sea is crystal clear, the beaches uncrowded — and in parts virtually empty even in high summer.. The food is excellent, the wine surprisingly good and inexpensive, and the local people could not be nicer. For golfers there is now a first-class 18-hole course half-an-hour from the house.
