In Angles, a quintessential French village, 3 minute walk to everything from a florist to a café bar, grocery store to butcher and baker, cash points and post office. A short drive of 4 miles to a choice of beaches. There is a wine cave (cellar) in the village where you can do wine tastings as well as buying. Completely refurbished, the villa has 4 bedrooms, two bathrooms, spacious hallway, utility room, downstairs shower room with WC, upstairs bathroom with bath and walk-in shower, separate WC, pool house with 3rd loo, basin, 2nd fridge, upstairs spacious landing. Open plan sitting, dining and kitchen with dishwasher, oven, induction hob. The dining area seats 10 with French doors opening onto the south facing secluded garden. One bedroom is on the ground floor with French doors to the garden. This is adjacent to the ground floor shower room and loo, good for grandparents or those less confident on stairs. TV with French and English channels, DVD player and a large selection of films. Selection of board games, toys (e.g. Playmobil, Sylvanians, Geomag, Jenga, French monopoly) a fort, Mr Potato head and more plus card games. The villa is two storey with 3 of the 4 bedrooms upstairs. The main bathroom and separate loo is also upstairs. The sitting, dining, kitchen, utility room, kingsize bedroom, shower room with WC area on the ground floor. The main bedroom upstairs overlooks both the front and back garden. It has a super-king bed and sofa next to the french doors, you never really need to leave this room! The rear of the villa and the garden face south and is private & secluded. It is mainly lawn and travertine terrace. There is seating inside and out for all 8 guests plus 8 additional bistro chairs for visitors. There are 8 sun loungers, 4 side tables, garden table and chairs for 8-10, garden sofa and coffee table, wine rack and plastics for use around the pool in the pool house, Weber large gas BBQ, wireless internet. There are two proper hair dryers. Maison Vendee is on Facebook and instagram with more photos and updates. Also visit it's own website for more photos of the villa features. The web address is maisonvendee.co.uk. It sleeps 8 comfortably in normal beds plus a further two little ones in 2 cots. The pool has a generous shallow end for little ones and has an electric rigid cover that is remote controlled meeting the strict safety requirements in France.

In 2014 treasured time was spent with old friends, from those annual french holidays long ago, at the villa. It was a great place to spend time together and share this wonderful place with our own children.

Lovely modern house with great pool

We loved our stay in Masion Vendee in Aug 2016. The house was clean and very well equipped. We loved the warm pool – the children played for hours without getting chilled. The BBQ and outside table/seating was used most days. It had everything we needed.

The village of Angles is lovely – we enjoyed the visits to the local bakery every day, La Trattoria in the town was lovely and welcoming of our group of 8 – we even ordered take-away pizza from them one night. We enjoyed the market and the local beaches, Les Conches was our favourite but we had multiple visits to Tranches for their amazing ice-cream shops. O'Gliss water park was a big hit with the kids as was Puy Du Fou. We loved our week here and hope to be back one day.

A beautifully kept Villa offering a most cost comfortable stay!

We were a family of seven staying at this beautiful Villa and all had a fantastic time! The Villa really is equipped in full and the owner has gone above and beyond to ensure a stress free stay. The pool is fantastic with the outside eating area/BBQ proving a hit every day. We hope to return at some point in time and would highly recommend this Villa for a most comfortable stay in a quaint little French Village.

A first class base in interesting area

This is a modern , very well equipped villa in an interesting area. Two families can easily co-exist in the house and garden- with room to spare! There really is the right number of everything from chairs to spoons.There are restaurants and shops within a 10 minute walk but we used the supermarkets and markets to get local food and very cheap but good wine. The coastline is beautiful with sandy beaches. In Spring and Autumn we experienced sunny weather, significantly warmer then the UK. Owner very helpful and supportive - not intrusive as she is in England. Wholly recommend for a varied and active holiday- everything for you to enjoy except nightclubs!

Nice house and garden, good location

Would recommend this holiday home. We stayed as a family of 4 and it didn't feel too big, even though we didn't use 2 of the 4 bedrooms. Equally though it would accommodate 8 people comfortably.

The house has been nicely refurbished in a traditional style, but with a more modern kitchen / living area. It was very clean and well-equipped. The main bedroom is spacious, the bed is comfortable and the air con a bonus. The splash pool and boules court in the garden, and the indoor toys, games and DVDs, were a hit with our children.

It was nice to stay in a peaceful location in a traditional village, which has a small but good selection of shops and places to eat and drink, but at the same time be within 10 minutes drive of several lovely sandy beaches and the resort of La-Tranche-sur-Mer.

The owner is very helpful and our whole holiday experience was very smooth.

Great village, accomodation and host!

From the Owner

The villa is in a perfect location near clean beaches and within walking distance to a baguette and a café. The private heated pool is a real treat. The pool is surrounded by travertine terracing. There is an adjacent pool house with fridge, wine rack, loo and basin to save having to go inside for a top up or ice cream. The village is a happy, French populated place with shops that open most days and most hours, apart from lunchtime of course. The restaurants in the village welcome you for lunch and dinner. The neighbours are traditional French citizens with character and stories to tell (in French). The village church dates from the 11th Century and had been recently renovated. The village is bustling on market days, Sunday and Wednesday every week from June to September with residents and visitors shopping for their cheese, meat, fruit, veg and bread. The café bar in the centre of the village opposite the church is a perfect spot to watch the world go by. The restaurants all serve great food. Everything is on the doorstep, so to speak. It's only an hour from the two choices of close airports and 3 hours from the ferry, and plenty of schedules to choose from. The rental tariff is good value aiming to just cover annual running costs while at the same time share this beautiful place. There are no extra charges for anything. The villa comfortably sleeps 8 in 4 good sized bedrooms. There are also two cots, for which there is plenty of room, for two babies in addition to the other 8 adults/children. Two bathrooms plus garden pool room with 3rd loo and basin.

Nearest Airport : La Rochelle 35 mi (Nantes 70 mi same time by car) at 35 Miles Nearest Barpub : Walk to the village bar 5 mins at 0.25 Miles Nearest Ferry : St Malo is 3hrs in the car, Caen is 4hrs. at 180 Miles Nearest Golf : For serious golfers best courses La Roche Sur Yon at 20 Miles Nearest Train : La Roche Sur Yon at 25 Miles Nearest Motorway : A87 motorway, then D21 main road at 2 Miles Nearest Restaurant : There are 4 to choose from in the village at 0.25 Miles Nearest Beach : La Tranche Sur Mer, Les Conches, La Terriere all at 4 Miles Car: recommended


There is a choice of sandy beaches just a short drive up one main road to La Tranche Sur Mer, Les Conches, La Phare, La Terriere for example. The journey takes 10 mins, it is approx 4 miles along a couple of straight roads. Other beaches also close by, La Faute Sur Mer, Jard Sur Mer.

The beaches are all wide, sandy and gently sloped. Boby boarding and surfing is particularly good at la Terriere.


Nantes Airport consistently 1 hour 15 mins all motorway

La Rochelle Airport consistently 45 mins smaller roads

St Malo port Consistently 3 hours with one 15 minute stop

Caen port Approx 4.5 hours with a 30 min stop.

Car hire is useful and is about the same cost of a taxi ride from the airport to the villa, so may as well hire a car. You could easily spend the holiday without a car, the village has all provisions and services. The car is useful for the short trip to the beach & exploring.


Angles village is a 5 min walk with all daily provisions, cafe, bar, restaurants, banks, post office, florist, chemist and more.

La Tranche Sur Mer is the nearest large town with more shops such as shoes and clothes on offer, and more restaurants, 4 miles.

Longeville sur mer is 10 mins by car and has markets twice weekly through the summer. Lucon is a pretty town with historic and elegant buildings 20 mins by car

Many vineyards to visit in the vicinity, J Mourat is fabulous just 30 mins by car, fishing on the nearby rivers, boat trips at Mureil sur lay.

La Sables D'Olonne 20 mins is beautiful large old coastal town with expansive beach front. Lots to see including a Zoo and Aquarium.

La Rochelle 45 mins by car is a pretty drive and has many glamorous shops and restaurants.

The award winning Puy de Fou is about 40 mins by car and is spectacular for the family, go early in the day in August.

Further Details:

The local shops are only a 3 minute walk away. They include:

4 restaurants, a creperie, two bakers, butcher, two banks with cash points, post office, mayors office, cafe bar, 11th Century Church, pharmacy, hairdresser, florist, grocery shop, newsagent and two estate agents.

The larger supermarkets are Intermarche a 3 min car ride and SuperU, under 10 mins in the car at La Tranche. Both these large supermarkets have all the usual supplies apart from free carrier bags at the till. Arrive with them (supplied at the villa). You can buy additional bags at the shop.

Angles has a high French residency all year round which keeps it alive. The bakers have a queue every morning from 7am (so the rumour goes). Not so much of a queue at 9.30.

The cash points in the village take UK cards for easy access to Euros.

There is a vet in Angles, about 5 mins in the car. Details at the Villa. Dogs allowed at our discretion, please enquire.

The aquarium at La Rochelle (45mins south along the coast) is worth a visit as is the Zoo at La Sables D'Olonne (25mins north up the coast) if a change from the beach is required.

Shopping, eating and sightseeing in both these architectural old French towns is also excellent.

Lucon is 20 mins inland by car and rewards you with historic buildings, Church, restaurants, cafes & shops.

J Mourat vineyard (under 30 mins by car inland) is visually beautiful with landscaped welcome area, tours of the wine making process and tastings. You wont go home empty handed. They do a sparkling red served chilled. A treat for the senses. There are other vineyards and châteaux to explore all a similar distance away, Rosnay (pronounced Ronnay apparently) and Mercier are close by.

The villa with its private pool is in a perfect location near clean beaches and within walking distance to a baguette, a café, a bar and restaurants. The remote controlled air conditioning is very useful for hot evenings. The free wifi is there if the desire to connect to the outside world is irresistible. Everything is fitted and refurbished to keep the character of the 1960's villa where possible. The villa is rewired to allow every electrical device to be on simultaneously without cutting out, a common occurrence in French houses. The garden is very private and a good size laid mainly to lawn and terrace. The boules alley is purpose built and provides happy hours of family competition. The pool shallow step is cushioned for extended sitting.

  • There are no additional charges at all, wifi, linen and towels are free of charge. Fridge in kitchen and pool house. Three of the four bedrooms have ample space for each of the two cots. There are 3 loos, 2 showers, a large bath. 1 loo is in the shower room and 1 is separate, the main bathroom has the big bath and one of the showers. 3rd loo in the pool house. The villa was built in the mid Sixties and where possible the furniture reflects this period and style and has been mainly sourced in France. The mattresses and bedding are hypo-allergenic and antibacterial. Painted oak French doors open onto the south facing garden from both the dining area and the ground floor bedroom. Two hair dryers. The garden is secluded, grass with a patio area and pétanque pitch (boules). Private heated pool, 8 sun loungers, long wooden table & chairs seating 8-10, large Weber gas BBQ, 8 additional metal bistro chairs to have around the garden and house. The garden is South facing. A fabric sun shade fixed over the table that can be open to the sky or drawn closed. Via French doors the garden is accessible from the open plan dining room and the ground floor bedroom. There is a washing line to the side of the house. Utility: washing machine, wide original sink, shopping bags (not free at the shops), pegs, drying rack. Picnic ice box, freezer blocks. Linen basket & wash basket. Broom & vacuum. Two wine coolers. Iron. Underfloor heating for non-summer guests on the entire ground floor. Towels, linen, wifi & cots are free of charge. This is a self catering villa. The villa is to be left as found. If you would enjoy a mid stay clean or linen change give the cleaners a call directly. Tel on notice board. Upstairs radiators are digital thermostatic wall mounted. There is wall mounted remote controlled air conditioning in both the kingsize and superking bedrooms.
