Great apartment in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of 3 - one child aged 6.

This apartment in Raxo is fantastic. It's in a beautiful part of the country and the town of Raxo itself has everything we needed.

Pablo was brilliant - he met us slightly out of town and guided us to the apartment with a quick stop on route to get some history on the area from an amazing view point above the town. He gave us a good look around the apartment and gave us loads of tips about what to do and where to visit and eat in the area. We contacted him a couple of times during our stay to ask about details of a few things and he happily responded really quickly.

The apartment is spacious and had everything we needed. Finally an apartment that had lots of cupboard space for food supplies!! The view from the balcony is beautiful and we spent every evening out there with a glass of the local white wine, watching the sun go down.

The parking was a little challenging at first, however we have a big car - a Mondeo - and after a couple of goes, it was fine. The garage is great as it keeps the car nice and cool and has a lift right up to the apartment floor. For those less keen there is parking really near on the roads.

In Raxo there are 3 small beaches within a 3 minute walk from the apartment. One of the beaches has the most incredibly soft sand we'd ever felt - it's so soft, you can make sand balls with it! The beaches are really kid friendly, shallow and clean, and we happily let our 6 year old swim about and watch for fish.

There are a few bars and restaurants in Raxo itself, ranging from cheap sandwich and ice cream bars to a trendier bar and some proper restaurants. All are very good value. There's a handy supermarket 2 mins walk from the apartment and a bakery just over the road.

Slightly further afield there are lots of lovely towns and beaches - Combarro was our favourite town with the lovely harbour and tiny winding streets. Lots of options for restaurants there. There is a beautiful golf course nearby, and go-karting, and boat trips that we did. Lots of cycling options including a lovely cycle trail around Illa de Arousa, although inland is VERY hilly but stunning. The Vuelta had just passed through. We even drove to Portugal one day and went to the lovely fortified town of Valenca which is less than an hours drive away.

All in all 100% recommended. Loved it.

Great apartment in lovely little town

  • 5 of 5

We've just returned from a great 2 week break in Galicia, based in this apartment in Raxo. Pablo was really helpful throughout the process and the apartment itself is really well-equipped and comfortable. There are several beaches within walking distance (which our 3 year old particularly loved!) which means even after a day out it's easy to go for a swim, Although Raxo is small, there are lots of bars and places to eat in the town, particularly on the promenade. We visited most of them and they were all really friendly and good value for money compared with more touristy areas in Spain. In terms of places to visit, A Coruna and Santiago are definitely worth the drive, Pontevedra has a lovely old town and good shops and Sanxenxo has a really impressive beach and promenade. Cambados is also pretty with great places to eat. We'd definitely recommend staying in this area and in this apartment.

Perfect apartment in a great location

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is very clean, comfortable and spacious and the views from the terrace are stunning. Pablo is a really nice guy and gave us lots of help with directions and some excellent recommendations for local restaurants and places to visit. There is a good supermarket and other shops close by and Raxo is a great base for exploring the area. We would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

Perfect for the Rias Baixas

  • 5 of 5

What a great base for exploring Galicia! This apartment has a great location in Raxo and a lovely view across the ria; we were blessed with lovely weather in mid-March and the surroundings are lovely.

As other reviewers have commented there are a number of tapas bars and restaurants within 5 mins walk - Las Conchas consistently served great food. Pablo and his family met us on arrival and couldn't have been more friendly or helpful in showing us around the flat, which was sparkling clean and extremely well-appointed in terms of kitchen, bathrooms - everything you could reasonably need was provided.

This apartment proved to be an ideal base for exploring the Rias Baixas and my parents (both Galician) hugely enjoyed days exploring Pontevedra and just touring the coastline. Driving up to A Coruna was not too long at all, so you really can get all over the region from this location - it's also very pretty! They were very comfortable in the apartment after a busy day and found it easy to relax and feel at home.

I'd have no hesitation recommending this property to anyone visiting the region; the owner Pablo really went the extra mile in terms of food and drink recommendations, general information about the region and sights, etc. I'll pass one of them on - make sure you visit Lameirina which is less than 5 mins walk from the apartment. The authentic Galician food they serve was the best that we'd tasted all week, in fact in a lot longer than that. The owner is a really nice guy and knows how to treat customers well!

Well located spacious apartment

  • 4 of 5

The apartment was just as good as described. The view from the balcony lovely. Lots of bars and tapas an easy walk away. Plenty of space in the apartment for two couples. Very close to swimming beach which was even better than the impression given in the advert. Pablo was very helpful both when booking the holiday and when we arrived. He warned us before setting out that the garage would be difficult if we had a large car. Anything bigger than our vw golf would have been very difficult.

Lovely apartment in Raxo

  • 5 of 5

We loved this apartment and Raxo (in fact Galicia in general).

The apartment was just as Pablo describes it and we were very happy there. We particularly liked sitting on the balcony, with fantastic views out to sea.

The access to beaches was as handy as described and Raxo, though only a small town, has lots of great restaurants and very friendly people.

We met Pablo and his parents and they were very helpful right from start to finish

We only wish we could have stayed longer, and we hope to be back next year

From the Owner

I love this part of Spain. Food is amazing and places are magical... there are a lot of tourist places around to visit. Although the apartment and the village are very quiet, you can also find crowdy places not far, as Sanxenxo or Pontevedra, the capital city.

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

There is Trekking, water-sports, birdwatching and golf in this area.

The village beach is just across the road from the apartment.

The nearest airport is Santiago de Compostela which is an hour away. Vigo airport, which is smaller, is also about 40 minutes away. We would suggest you rent a car or bring your own. Otherwise you would have to get a bus from the airport to the train station and take a train to Pontevedra and then get a bus to Raxo from there.

Raxo is an important village in this area but Combarro is only 6 kilometres away. SanXenxo 6kms, Poio 11kms, Pontevedra 13km, Vigo 42kms and Santiago de Compòstela is about 73kms.

Further Details:

The nearest banks are in SanXenxo or Combarro but everything else you could possibly need is virtually at your doorstep at the apartment. There is a nice seafood restaurant in the village and little taverns where you can eat local tapas and try the wine.

From the Owner

It's location is perfect between beautiful sandy beaches and tourist places as Combarro and Sanxenxo. One of the things I like the most of my apartment is that, despite its a hilly county, is by the sea... and you don't need to go up and down every day... :) I'm sure you will love it!!
