Great chalet in handy location

This chalet is a great value holiday base away from the hustle and bustle of the main resort areas, in a pretty hamlet not far from St Jean d’Aulps.

It’s an easy 15-20 minute drive to some of the best lifts in the Portes du Soleil. Driving to the lifts was something we’ve not done before, but we found that it meant we skied a wider area during the week and stopped us getting bored of the same old slopes. The lift at Ardent gives great access to Avoriaz, and we also drove to Morzine and Les Gets.

The chalet is comfortable, with big bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen and a cozy sitting area with log burning stove. A perfect setting for dinner with friends and a couple of beers after a long day’s skiing!

Having visited in winter we’re keen to go in summer too – it looks like there would be plenty to do to fill a week in the sun.

Appartement très chaleureux pour un séjour entre amis.

Nous avons passé un très bon séjour à Saint Jean d'Aulps. L'appartement est agréable avec une grande pièce de vie très lumineuse. Le poêle chauffe vraiment très bien la pièce en plus du chauffage normal et cela donne une ambiance très chaleureuse.

L’appartement est très propre et refait récemment.

Nous avons pu récupérer les clés très facilement et les propriétaires ont facilités toutes les démarches (état des lieux etc..).

L’appartement est situé à côté du village de Saint Jean d'Aulps mais il est nécessaire d'avoir une voiture.

En plus du ski nous sommes allés visiter l'abbaye qui est juste à côté et la visite est très intéressante même avec des jeunes enfants tout est prévu pour eux.

Logement tout à fait conforme aux photos et que nous recommandons.

Great family space

This is lovely large apartment in a good location with big rooms and a very cosy sitting space with toastie log fire. Recommended!

Only 15 minutes drive from Morzine, we were able to get our five year old to ski school and get ourselves onto the piste every day without drama. We also skied a couple of days at Roc d'Enfer which is very close only 4km away. We had a non-skiing two year old in our party and it was great to have plenty of space for him to play inside and out.

Ample parking for 2 cars allowed us to split into 2 parties to serve different needs. An extendable wooden dining table for family feasts (fondue!) Fresh croissant/Pain au chocolat from the delicious Patisserie nearby in St jean d'Aulps.

And there are walkie-talkies you can take out and about - VERY handy.

Pros: Home from home. Lots of room. Private garden. Wood burner. Area has a huge variety of pistes.

Great location for fun in the mountains!

This family friendly apartment is well positioned to access the port du soleil ski areas. During our weeks stay we skied at Les Gets, Morzine, St Jean, Avoriaz and chatel, all of which can be accessed from less than a 20 min drive to the lifts. The apartment is well suited to a large extended family or 2 families holidaying together. The spaciously lounge/kitchen diner has really comfy sofas and a big table which can sit 6 adults. This room makes a great evening base for relaxing and there are enough bathrooms to accomdate everyone showering after a days skiing and to put little ones to bed. The apartment is lovely and warm and if you are really chilly after a days skiing the wood burner in the lounge throws out a lot of heat (we had to open the windows we got so hot and it was -6 outside). The beds were comfy and the apartment was clean on arrival, the owners are gradually improving and adding to the property so it is a mix of old and new, for example it has a brand new kitchen and wood burning stove which are both excellent. The cots provided were in excellent condition. The apartment is upstairs so not suitable for people with mobility issues, thrre was room to leave a pram in the downstairs hallway. During the whole stay we never heard any noise from either the downstairs occupants or the main road. Bring your slippers as all the floors are tiled, but not as cold as you would expect (perhaps due to heat rising from downstairs apartment?) Although there is local bus service a car is a complete necessity for this property of you are to make the most of the area. In winter (if there is snow on the ground) walking to any shops or restaurants is not really a sensible option so be prepared to drive (even though it is only 5 min away). The owners were really helpful answering questions and very attentive checking we were ok once in place. Overall the apartment has a spacious, warm, welcoming, mixed style (some modern, some rustic, some mismatched, the odd bit well worn)...........perfect in our eyes for active families!

We love the Portes du Soleil region for the excellent winter and summer activities. St Jean is a great village, close to all the action, but with some practical amenities, including some lovely restaurants and a really well stocked supermarket!
