Updated: 08-Dec-2016
House in Whitby, North Yorkshire, England - Quiet Residential Street, Off Street Parking For 2 Cars, 15 Minutes Walk From The Town Centre

Whitby Panorama House is a large, modern, 4 storey house situated on the east (Abbey) side of Whitby with panoramic views over the harbour and town from the balcony of the open plan living area. The clever layout of rooms with bedrooms on the top and bottom floors and kitchen/dining/living area in the middle means the house is ideal for family get-togethers or groups of friends. The house is well equipped and comfortably furnished for a relaxing holiday any time of the year. The house is just a 10 minute walk into the town and has the added benefit of off-street parking for 2 cars, a rarity in Whitby.

About the Owner

We live in England, just north of York, we are supposedly retired but have never been busier!

We have been fortunate to visit many parts of the world but one of our favourite journeys will always be a drive across the North York Moors to Whitby which has become a special place not just for us, but for our whole family.

great weekend away

  • 4 of 5

my family and I enjoyed a lovely weekend in Whitby staying at the Panorma House. we booked via Owners Direct but were also in direct contact with Elaine the house owner which made a difference to me as I felt it was more personal. The house itself is well equipped and had everything you needed, we cooked a full breakfast and a mega roast dinner for 9 people and it wasn't an issue, best bit was having a dining table that seated us all so we could sit together (in other houses we have been too we had to eat in shifts)

views were brilliant and the balconies really nice to sit on and have your morning brew whilst watching Whitby wake up. Only downside we had was the walk down to the town is hilly and we had two 80 year olds with us, ok during the day but night time the lighting wasn't great so they chose to stay in while we went into town.

I would recommend Panorama House as a great location, benefit of car parking spaces and a lovley place to stay.

Whitby Holiday

  • 4 of 5

There were nine of us - 4 adults and 5 children between 16 and 3 years old.

The property - Panorama House, was very well located for the town centre and the Abbey. It was clean, well maintained and had everything we needed. The view from the rooms facing the marina were lovely. There is a very large supermarket 5 minutes drive away.

The owner was very friendly and responded quickly to the request for the problem with internet connection.

We enjoyed our visit to the Abbey where a very amusing three handed play about Dracula was performed. We also visited Robin Hood's Bay, Flamingo land and Dalby Forest.

The smaller children liked the play area in Pannett Park.

I have recommended it and the neighbouring property to my friend who has a very large family. She is thinking about it.

My only complaint, and it is not the fault of the property or the owner is the fact that the road on which the house is situated is very parked up and although there is space for two cars at the house it is sometimes hard to get in and out, but we would certainly go again if we visit Whitby

Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

This house is in a fantastic location with wonderful views across the harbour. The property is extremely well furnished and is presented to the highest standards. We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend and would certainly choose to stay in this accommodation again when staying in Whitby. I would also like to add that the owner was extremely helpful in responding to any queries I had when making the booking and thank you for the bottle of sparkly and biscuits on arrival. They were much appreciated after a slow journey in bank holiday traffic.

Fantastic house in a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Eight of us, four couples stayed at the house for the April Goth' and steam punk weekend. We have stayed at the same house twice for long weekends and once with a different group of people for a week. This house, and Whitby itself, never fails to impress, we book many large houses for various holidays all over the country and sometimes abroad, but rarely return more than once, but this beautifully maintained house along with it's location is an exception. On long weekends, once in, we rarely use our cars/motorcycles, as Whitby is a short( if somewhat steep) walk away, and due to its terraced location, the house has a fantastic view of the town and harbour without actually being affected by any noise. This is the perfect house for using as a base to visit other parts of Yorkshire, we hopped on the steam train and spent a day visiting pubs and towns along it's rout, or just stay in the house, sit on the balcony in the sun and just take in the view, which at times, looks like a Lowry painting. The town is a friendly, welcoming place with everything from basic real ale pubs and live music venues, to wonderful restaurants and of course its many fish n chip shops. We always have a great time in Whitby, daytime or at night, it is all there waiting for you, it is up to you how you use it

Wonderful place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We had 7 adults staying in the house and because of how the bedrooms are distributed, we didn't feel on top of each other at all.

Lots of space and great views.

Would highly recommend

Further Details:

Whitby has something for everyone, whatever the time of year.

The town is dominated by the ruins of Whitby Abbey, beside St Mary's Church on the cliff top from which the famous 199 steps lead down to the narrow streets and ginnels with a wealth of shops, pubs and restaurants.

In addition to traditional seaside activities there are opportunities for fishing and pleasure boat trips, river fishing, surfing, golfing and Whitby is fast becoming a destination of choice for keen photographers. There are many choices of spectacular coastal and inland routes for cyclists (follow the route of this year's Tour de Yorkshire which passed just 200m from the house) and walkers (The Cleveland Way is 1/2 mile from the house). If you don't fancy a swim in the sea (Whitby beach is Blue Flag status)try the Whitby Indoor Leisure Centre or Scarborough Indoor Pool.

The picturesque North York Moors can also be enjoyed by steam train from Whitby to Pickering and the trains can be seen and heard from the balcony!

There are a number of museums, including The Captain Cook Museum and Whitby Museum and art galleries.

Whitby Pavilion Theatre has a programme of entertainment throughout the year, and it's only a short drive to Scarborough for an even wider choice.

Whilst Whitby will forever be associated with fish and chips there is now a wide and growing choice of cuisine and restaurants within a short walking distance.

Whitby has 2 large supermarkets, a Co-op in the town centre and a Sainsbury's (with petrol station) just a 5 minute drive from the house.
