House in Whitby, North Yorkshire, England - Quiet Residential Street, Off Street Parking For 2 Cars, 10 Minutes Walk From The Town Centre

Whitby Panorama House is a large modern, 4 storey house situated on the east (Abbey) side of Whitby with panoramic views over the harbour and town from the balcony of the open plan living area, bedrooms and outside spaces.

The clever layout of rooms with bedrooms on top and bottom floors and kitchen/dining/living area in the middle means the house is ideal for family get togethers or groups of friends.

The house is well equipped and comfortably furnished for a relaxing holiday any time of the year and is just a 10 minute walk into the town and has the added benefit of off-street parking for 2 cars, a rarity in Whitby.

On the top floor there are 3 bedrooms, one twin, one double (with views over the harbour) and one single. A stairgate is in place if required.

On the floor below, which is at street level, there is a bathroom and integral garage (space for 1 car) with washing machine and tumble dryer.

One further floor below is the open plan kitchen/dining/living area which leads onto the balcony overlooking the harbour and station. This faces west so has the benefit of afternoon sunshine and is the perfect place for sundowners!

The kitchen has an electric double oven, gas hob, integrated fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher, lots of crockery and cutlery, glassware (including those for children) and pots and pans to make it easy to cater for a full house.

There is seating for 9 at the dining table. We also provide 2 highchairs for small people.

There is ample seating on sofas and easy chairs for watching TV or a dvd, listening to music, playing board games, using the wifi or just curling up with a good book!

Stairs from the lounge, with stairgate, lead to the bottom floor with a double and a twin bedroom both with double French doors leading on to the terrace which has views over the harbour. The bedrooms share a shower room with walk-in shower, w.c and bidet.

The gravelled terrace can be reached by an external staircase from the kitchen or from the lower bedrooms and has a table and chairs for alfresco dining or just watching the world go by.

Whitby North Bay Beach is a 15 minute walk, perfect when the tide is out for sandcastle building and traditional beach games or a 3 mile walk along to Sandsend.

Robin Hood's Bay, 5 miles south, and Runswick Bay, 10 miles north, provide excellent opportunities for rock pool exploring and fossil hunting.

Travel:

Whitby station is 1 mile from the house, connections via Middlesborough to the East Coast London-Edinburgh mainline service.

Nearest airports are Durham-Tees Valley, Leeds-Bradford and Newcastle.

Whitby has something for everyone, whatever the time of year.

The town is dominated by the ruins of Whitby Abbey, beside St Mary's Church on the cliff top from which the famous 199 steps lead down to the narrow streets and ginnels with a wealth of shops, pubs and restaurants.

In addition to traditional seaside activities there are opportunities for fishing and pleasure boat trips, river fishing, surfing, golfing and Whitby is fast becoming a destination of choice for keen photographers. There are many choices of spectacular coastal and inland routes for cyclists (follow the route of this year's Tour de Yorkshire which passed just 200m from the house) and walkers (The Cleveland Way is 1/2 mile from the house). If you don't fancy a swim in the sea (Whitby beach is Blue Flag status)try the Whitby Indoor Leisure Centre or Scarborough Indoor Pool.

The picturesque North York Moors can also be enjoyed by steam train from Whitby to Pickering and the trains can be seen and heard from the balcony!

There are a number of museums, including The Captain Cook Museum and Whitby Museum and art galleries.

Whitby Pavilion Theatre has a programme of entertainment throughout the year, and it's only a short drive to Scarborough for an even wider choice.

Whilst Whitby will forever be associated with fish and chips there is now a wide and growing choice of cuisine and restaurants within a short walking distance.

Whitby has 2 large supermarkets, a Co-op in the town centre and a Sainsbury's (with petrol station) just a 5 minute drive from the house.

Notes on accommodation: The rental is fully inclusive of heating and electricity costs. For those coming with young children we have a wooden cot and a travel cot, 2 high chairs and stair gates are in place on the top floor and in the living room. Bed linen (except for the cots), bath towels and tea towels are provided. Please bring your own beach towels. For the comfort of all our guests we regret that the house is strictly non-smoking and we do not accept pets. Outside: Off street parking for 2 cars (1 in garage, 1 on drive). Balcony from main living area with chairs has panoramic views over harbour and town. Small paved patio area at same level as kitchen, stairs down to gravelled area in front of bedrooms with large table and chairs. Utility Room: Washing machine, tumble dryer, sink, drying racks, iron and ironing board in integral garage. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen, towels (except cot bedding and beach towels), heating provided. The house will be cleaned prior to arrival. For bookings longer than one week, a 'refresh' and change of bed linen can be arranged.

Wonderful, perfect location for our family of nine

I booked this property for a party of nine for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary celebrations. Our party comprised myself and my partner, my older sister and my younger sister, her husband and two kids aged 10 and 13. The property provided plenty of room for us all and the views over the harbour from the balcony were wonderful. To cap it all, my Dad loves steam trains and the one he used to watch go past the end of his garden at five-years-old suddenly appeared across the bay just as we arrived. I'm really sure Elaine, the owner, arranged it for us it was that perfect 😉! Elaine was wonderful to deal with and very helpful and interested in our family's jaunt up to nearby Roseberry Topping where my parents' used to 'court'. I'll be sending her a photo of us all at the top drinking fizz and eating Whitby crab sandwiches from the local deli. Just a wonderful weekend. I will just highlight parking is tight but that's a very minor point. When you have an owner that suggests instead of paying for a replacement key that we'd mislaid we give some money to a charity of our choice instead, well you can't go too far wrong.

Whitby is wonderful.

The house is plenty big enough, great location and was comfortable. However, we needed a cot and unfortunately it was really dirty, we were not able to use it. The blankets were awful.

Also, one of our cars was 'keyed' for want of another word, on the second day, all along the left hand side despite being on the drive.

Fantastic accommodation and location

Whitby Panorama House provided us with everything we needed for our visit to Whitby. The house is comfortably furnished over the four floors with modern appliances and facilities. The view of Whitby from the balcony is magnificent. Will definitely book again next time we visit the town.

Probably the best pick for a family vacation home in Whitby!

We absolutely loved this gem of a vacation home and recommend it highly. The location can't be beaten as it is only a few minutes' walk from the Abbey, is on a hill one block from the water with spectacular views of the town from multiple levels. We didn't have a car and were able to walk here with our luggage from the train station and also walked to the grocery store, restaurants and shops. And yet, it is perfectly quiet at night. The house has five bedrooms, ample room for our family of seven, and it has everything guests need for cooking, laundry, etc. We didn't have young children with us, but it is an ideal rental for parents with young kids as it has a high chair, crib and baby gates.The hosts, Elaine and Ralph, are warm and helpful and have thought of everything. It is so much better than a hotel for families. We particularly loved the coastal walk to Robin's Hood Bay (in the sun) and seeing the Abbey in the fog. We highly recommend The Rusty Shears coffee house and restaurant, too

It has an innovative menu that appealed to the vegetarians as well as the lone carnivore in our group. Whitby, was definitely a highlight of our trip to the UK from Canada, and Panorama Place exceeded our expectations by a mile.

Fantastic views over the harbor.

6 adults and 1 toddler. Large, spacious home with fabulous views over the harbor. Cot, highchair and lots of children's cutlery and plates provided, so less for us to have to take with us. Huge advantage having 2 parking spaces and its only a very short stole into the town (although it is extremely steep and cobbled, so not for everyone.) Well equipped kitchen and lots of games and dvds to keep any children (and adults) occupied .Lovely touch to find a bottle and short bread biscuits left by the owners for our arrival. Elaine kept us up to date through email and even gave us a heads up about a cycling event happening on the day of our arrival.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can highly recommend.

Excellent accommodation, location and views

Panorama House is a fantastic, clean and well maintained property with amazing views and perfect location. The owner is very efficient and has excellent customer service. There are so many things to do in Whitby. Plenty of walks around the harbour, along the pier, up 199 steps to Whitby Abbey and numerous sea front and cliff walks. Tasty food at Magpies and Hadleys Fish n Chips restaurants. Plenty of shops for all ages and plenty of yummy sweets and ice cream too. Pannette park is well worth a few visits! The steam train to Goathland is well worth it too. Would highly recommend a walk up the moors and a tea and scone at Malayan Spout. We will definitely be going back to Whitby and have already recommended Panorama House to family and friends.

A deposit of 25% is required to secure the booking. Balance to be paid 8 weeks before the start of the rental period. Payment in full is required if a booking is made within 8 weeks of arrival. A refundable 'good housekeeping' deposit of £100 required which will normally be returned within 2 weeks of checkout subject to no major damage/breakages.
A booking form will be emailed for completion and return together with a copy of our terms and conditions in response to a reservation request.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Friday, arrival after 4pm and departure before 10am.
Other days (Friday for 3 night weekend or Monday for 4 night weekday) may be agreed for short breaks (or longer stays!).
