Beautifully Furnished Holiday Home - just minutes walk from the harbour & beach

Tideway is a beautifully furnished 4 bedroom period house in stunning Port Isaac. It is located towards the top of Fore Street and benefits from a large dining room/kitchen/sitting room with French doors opening onto a sunny patio garden and views towards the harbour and Roscarrock Hill. The property is arranged over 4 floors and has generous living space with two separate lounge areas and sea views from the upstairs bedrooms. The patio garden has a large picnic table and BBQ for guest use. There is parking for one care at the front of the house & wifi (of course !).

BED LINEN

This house has its own stock of amazing bed linen for all the beds, its lovely luxurious Egyptian cotton from The White Company. If you are booking out the house for peak seasons (June to end August, Half Terms, Xmas, NY, Easter), then the price of this bed linen IS INCLUDED in your rental. For all other off season times the rental is set at a lower price to attract your off season business and the price DOES NOT INCLUDE LINEN. If you do need bed linen this can be included for you of course but it is an additional cost, or you want want to bring along your own linen to save on costs.

Towels are not included, during low or high seasons but I can arrange rental for you if you are coming from overseas.

Tideway has been assess by the English Tourist Board and was awarded a 4 Star Rating.

About Kate Ashley

Tideway has been owned by the Ashley Family since 1999 and over this time it has been lovingly renovated. It started out quite basic with old rattling storage heaters and constant problems with hot water but we have invested lots of time (and money!), so now the house is lovely and warm all year long, has tonnes of hot water and makes for a great family holiday home. We have let our house for 4 consecutive years to the Buffalo Productions crew who make Doc Martin so its been a very busy property over the years.

This will be our 3rd season of letting the house myself and I've been able to lower our prices to direct guests via Owners Direct.

Why Kate Ashley chose North Cornwall

Our house has been hugely improved over the years - hot water and heating systems work well, the kitchen is very well kitted out, the TV's are all news and the beds are comfy. All the bedding (duvets pillows etc ) are very new and I invested in luxurious Egyptian cotton from The White Company which is a real treat.

Last year we completed a brand new dormer window at the top of the house giving great views down into the village. Wifi - of course !

What makes this house unique

As a family we like to be outdoors ! We love body boarding and surfing and the little ones love paddling in the rock pools so Port Isaac and the North Cornish coast is the perfect location for our summer adventures. Our favourite beach is Trebarwith Strand which always seems to have great waves as well as a lovely cafe and little shop selling yummy hot doughnuts! .From Port Isaac you can head over to Rock for sailing or grab the ferry over to Padstow or cycle the Camel Trail which is a gorgeous scenic route, its quite a popular activity but deservedly so.

Port Isaac is brilliantly positioned as its very near to Trebarwith Strand, and Polzeath but also ideally positioned for some of the best parts of the North Cornwall coastal path (the stretch from Port Isaac to Port Quinn is really stunning).

When you combine all this with a fishing village complete with pubs, shops and restaurants its an amazing combination.

We hope you will enjoy a trip to Port Isaac as much as we do.

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: There is parking directly in front of the house, this makes it very easy to quickly arrive or leave and you are not having to be held up in traffic jams down to the harbour !. From the patio garden there is a safe picket style fence and access via a large gate with steps onto Back Hill. Sorry, no dogs and no smoking. Outside: Sunny patio garden with paved terrace and large wooden picnic table and parasol. BBQ for guest use. The patio is very sheltered and a real sun-trap and has views towards the harbour and Roscarrock. There is an outside tap and water butt to wash out wet suits and gear from the beach. We have put up a new and very safe picket fence to keep little ones safe with a big gate and then steps down onto Back Hill. This makes an interesting alternative route into and out of the house and you can have fun exploring the many small streets of old Port Isaac via this back route....a much quieter and more fun route back home from the harbour. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bedlinen, bathmats and tea-towels are provided. (Linen is Egyptian Cotton from The White Company...brand new !) Guests provide their own towels and beach towels. Full clean of the property every week, full change of linen every week. Other: The dining room has a large table and in built seating great for a big dinner party !

A surprisingly large and comfortable property in Port Isaac

The room at the top of the house is very cosy and has great views from the front and back of the property. The kitchen, dining area and patio allowed us to spend time together in one part of the house. The kids played games at the table whilst the grown ups could chat and have a drink, sit outside or watch TV. We were lucky with the weather. All very pleasant.

Perfect break!

Had a great weekend away in this place. Lots of space and rooms for everyone. Perfect for large family's as there is a massive dining table for everyone to get round. Nice and clean! Fantastic location, just around the corner from Padstow and there is a great costal path towards Port Quinn with fantastic views! There is also a co-op just a 5 minute walk which has everything you need and there is a great pub also 5 minutes away. Fantastic communication with the owners.

Fabulous holiday house

Lovely house, perfect for everyone from small children (2 boys, aged 2 & 3) to the grandparents (70+). Downstairs kitchen/living space very well equipped with lovely patio garden for the many bbqs we had. Quiet grown up lounge ideal for when it got a little noisy. Great to be walking distance to the habour and beach. Already rebooked for next year.

Excellent accommodation, great location

Great house and facilities, plenty of room for our extended family of 10, and space for own time. Excellent location, within 5 minutes of harbour, restaurants, pubs and shops. Parking for one car, but no problem as plenty of space nearby. Owner extremely helpful. Strongly recommend.

Great place for a small reunion

We rented Tideway for a week for a reunion with some old Oxford University friends. We were three families and with Kate's permission we went one over the usual accommodation limit, so there were 11 of us; three couples and five children.

The house was perfect, as was Port Isaac. The rooms are spacious and the communal areas very well equipped. The location is also great - in a scenic part of the town but not a zone swamped by day tourists, and it is close to amenities such as the well-stocked Coop and village car park.

Kate was excellent with the communication, which was appreciated as we booked the house from New Zealand where we now live.

Port Isaac has a lot of charm. We have enjoyed watching Doc Martin since we returned, recognising places we visited, but the town has other things going for it. These include a small working fishing fleet, a welcoming pub and a good local band (The Fishermens' Friends) who gave a charity concert on the wharf the night before we left. We even bumped into "Bert" who was as affable and warm-hearted in real life as on TV.

The main purpose of the stay was to get-together with friends who we can only gather together every 4 or 5 years, and we would have had a good time just hanging out wherever we were, but Tideway really contributed to it being a great experience, so thanks Kate!

Practical info: there is only parking for one car at the house and if you have more they will need to be in the village car park (not an issue for us). There's no need to bring food etc as the Coop is well-stocked and there are plenty of place to eat in the town.

A wonderful week

The house itself is utterly lovely (and don't be fooled by the external photo, it's huge with another storey below because it's on a hill). All of the rooms are very tastefully decorated and have plenty of space for large groups or families to spread out. The large kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could need and is well laid out, allowing cooking and socialising to happen simultaneously. It was fantastic cottage to base a wonderful holiday in Cornwall from. Plenty of nice places to eat in the area, outdoor activities to find, beaches to relax on and interesting places to visit.
