There is an antique table in the kitchen, seating 10, and a modern designer table in the dining room seating 12+.

In total there are 5 bedrooms, three on the main floor with views and doors onto the balconies facing the lake. Two have double beds and the third is a family suite with double bed as well as a bunk bed. All the upstairs bedrooms have air conditioning. The lower ground floor has two more bedrooms, both with windows and partial lake view. One is a spacious double bedroom, and the other one is a children's room with a loft style bunk bed. • 5 of 5

We have rented this villa for a week for 10 guests including children. Everybody had a great time. The villa is clean and spacious. It has all the amenities required for the week of stay. The veranda view is amazing. The swimming pool was clean and the water was warm. Sami is a beautiful town next door and food shopping can be done in a local stores. We will be back to visit this area And rent the villa again.

Great Villa, wonderful service

  • 5 of 5

We booked Villa Desire for 11 to celebrate a special birthday and it was excellent.

The booking process was simple, all done on online and we were kept informed at every step by Christina. They arranged a transfer from the train station when we arrived and for our departure to 2 separate airports - all were on time in excellent vehicles.

When we first arrived we were met by Novella who looked after us during our stay, who showed us around and took us through everything we needed to know about the Villa and the local area. Throughout our stay she kept in constant contact and was always available to arrange taxis, answer any questions and to solve any issues we had. We did have some issues with the heating system and these were resolved by Novella who ensured that the owner and a plumber were there within 24 hours to fix a faulty part and we had no problem after that. We also had an issue with a faulty key which wouldn't open the front door but this didn't cause us a huge issue and we were assured it would be fixed for future guests. As good as the Villa already is, the service we received from Novella on top made it extra-special.

The Villa is excellent, the view is about the first thing you see and will take your breath away, we could see down to Salo and across Lake Garda to Monte Baldo. In the evening the view took on a different look as all of the towns around the Lake lit up, equally stunning.

The bedrooms were comfortable (although the 3 on the ground floor beat the 2 on the lower ground floor due to the stunning view), with extra bedding available and plenty of towels to use in the 3 bathrooms.

There were also enough towels for everyone to use in the pool. The pool area was well kept with plenty of sun loungers and 'noodles' and other things for the kids to use in the pool in the garage which also had modern gym equipment. The pool wasn't heated so was (really) cold although we were there earlier in the year so this shouldn't be a problem for anyone travelling in the summer.

The dining table was large enough to sit everyone after cooking in the large kitchen containing almost everything you could want to look after yourselves for a week.

The Villa is within walking distance of Salo although some guests may find it further out than they would like, it took around 45 mins to walk to the ferry port.

If you're looking for a beautiful place to base yourself for a family get together you can do a lot worse than staying here.

Amazing location!

  • 5 of 5

This really is a location of outstanding views, the Villa is stunning and perfect for a family holiday or a sneaky romantic retreat for two, the huge glass sides to the villa give a panoramic view of Salò and beyond, no television is needed as you would never get tired of the watching the world of Lake Garda unfold every day. 8 of us enjoyed a fabulous week at the Villa there is plenty of room for all and great places to have family time like the balcony you can dine on, the pool and the homely kitchen. We found it the perfect base to explore Salò and the many lake side towns of Lake Garda. The river ferries run from Salò to many locations and are great fun. I would highly recommend this Villa and the Holiday Garda Team, who are very helpful and ready to answer any questions and help with booking restaurants etc. We found Christina and Novella excellent in making our holiday go smoothly from our first enquiries to checking we got home ok and had a good time.

We would recommend looking a bit behind the bars and restaurants around the bay of Salò if you like your food and service, there are some great restaurants that serve amazing food and give great friendly service. Go check out Lake Garda and all it has to offer, and if you go to Villa Desire or use Holiday Gardas services we don't think you will be disappointed.

Stunning villa with spectacular views

  • 4 of 5

The villa is stunningly beautiful with a view to die for over Lake Garda, Salo and the surrounding

mountains. The terrace with its huge dining table is ideal for leisurely meals and drinks with

family or friends in the beautiful, balmy evenings that we experienced in June during our holiday.

The private pool is superb and there are loads of sunbeds and cushions. The villa and its

grounds are not overlooked at all and once you have driven in through the electronic gates you

feel totally private. They also provided inflatables, etc, for the kids.

The three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the main floor are superb, with French windows opening out

onto the terrace with its panoramic view. The two bedrooms in the basement are adequate but have

very small windows and no air conditioning. The bathroom for these two rooms is basically a

utility room with a shower installed in it so downstairs is definitely for the second class

travellers (perhaps a good place to put the in-laws if they've stowed away with you). Also, there

is no air conditioning downstairs although it stays pretty cool anyway.

The kitchen and its facilities were fine for a big group with a 5-burner hob, microwave, oven,

fridge and freezer and loads of utensils. Everything was very clean and tidy when we arrived.

The location is a little bit remote from Salo and I wouldn't recommend booking it if you don't

have a hire car as it is not easy to walk down to the supermarket (about 20 mins each way) and a

lot further if you want to walk down to the main Salo waterfront. Salo itself is a beautiful

little town with a superb lakefront. The cafes and restaurants in the area are nearly all of a

high standard.

The communication and support from the staff at Lake Garda Holidays was excellent - they kept me

fully informed by e-mail before the holiday, answered any questions promptly and always answered

quickly and helpfully when we contacted them by phone, text or WhatsApp.

In summary, it was a marvellous and memorable holiday venue with a few small negatives.

This will be hard to better

  • 5 of 5

It is always a bit daunting booking accommodation on the internet from people you don't know and from the pictures posted, as you so often hear of tales of woe, however we took the plunge and booked in January. The communication and help from Christina from the very first email was first class and all the early transactions etc. made very easy.

9 months later when we arrived at the gates to Villa Desire we were just bowled over with the location/scale and beauty of the property and its amazing views, we were personally met by Novella who showed us around the Villa which was even more impressive than the pictures on the web site.

We all had a truly fantastic time during the two week stay, with any minor issues we might have had promptly sorted out by the team at Holiday Garda (Christina, Novella and Cristina) without any fuss.

The views over the sun rising and setting over Salo and Lake Garda were breath taking will remain with us for a long time.

Very highly recommended!!!

A wonderful spot for a holiday, Salò is the perfect balance between small town and city. It has characteristic cobblestone streets and beautiful old world architecture, with everything in easy walking distance. And it also has all the services and entertainments you expect in a city, including theatre, museum, historic sights, restaurants, bars, shops and supermarkets and more. Its lake front promenade is purported to be the longest in Italy, and you can stroll along the lake with beaches to one side and side walk cafés, restaurants, bars and delightful small shops to the other.

Salò was founded during the Roman era with the name Pagus Salodium. It is not certain how the town got its name but one theory is that it was named after Salodia, an Etruscan Queen who lived here. In the Middles Ages, the town became a stronghold of the powerful Visconti family from Milan. In 1440, after a long war, Salò join the "Magnifica Patria" and fell under the rule of the Venetian Republic. In 1560, Salò was eventually bestowed with the honorary title of 'city by royal decree'.

Historical sites include:

- The Duomo di Santa Maria Annunziata (cathedral), rebuilt in late Gothic style in the 15th century. It has a noteworthy Renaissance portal by Gasparo Cairano and Antonio Mangiacavalli, paintings by Zenone Veronese (16th century), a Polyptych of Paolo Veneziano's school and a Madonna and Saints by Romanino.

- The Palazzo della Magnifica Patria (16th century). The palace is home to the Historical Museum of the Azure Ribbon, an exhibition of documents on Renaissance history, on Italy's colonial wars, the Spanish Civil War and the Resistance against Fascism.

- The Communal Palace is the seat of the Civic Archaeological Museum, with findings from the ancient Salodium.

During the Second World War, from 1943 to 1945, the town was the base of the Republic of Salò from where Mussolini’s party ruled. This was a puppet state of Nazi Germany during Mussolini’s last years of decline, and after the Allied invasion he had no real powers over the rest of the country. The official title of the government of the Salò Republic was the "Italian Social Republic".

Down the road from Salo, about 2km to Gardone, and you will find the Vittoriale museum, official residence of Gabriele D'annunzio and a fascinating testament to the futurist movement in Italy in the early 1900s. It is also an open air theater, with many important concert dates during the summer season.

Take the ferry from the port of Salo to a number of fun day trip destinations, including the panoramic gondola up the Monte Baldo from Malcesine, and the towns of Riva, Limone, Toscolano, Sirmione or Desenzano.

About 45 minutes away, by Peschiera del Garda, you will find a nest of world famous theme parks including Gardaland and Canevaworld, a safari park and zoo, famous botanical gardens, and a wonderful hot springs lake at Lasize.

For those with an archeological/anthropological bent -- and for spelunkers too -- the villa is not far from the famous caves and neolithic cave paintings of the Val Camonica.

Verona, with its opera season, ancient roman arena as well as Juliet's balcony, is about 60km away. Venice is about 160km away, and Milan about 175km away, both within easy day trip distance.

Notes:

  • Outside: Villa Desire is perched on a hill, immersed in a private park of 7000sqm, surrounded by olive groves on a gentle slope sweeping down towards the town of Cunettone di Salò. There's also a wood on the steeper slope down towards the lake. It is utterly private, the land screening the house from the noise and the eyes of neighbours. A large private swimming pool (11x6m) lies at the side of the house and is fully furnished with sunbeds, sunloungers and beach umbrella. The pool area reaches the crest of the steep slope, with beautiful lake views from the poolside and the pool itself. Built-in barbecue area with gazebo and dining area, with splendid views. The property itself backs onto a large public park and playground, just 50m down the gentle slope, great for the kids!
