Situated in meadows behind Welcombe Mouth this large comfortable house has been renovated for luxury accommodation for up to 18. Ground source underfloor heating and spacious gardens with covered patio means the house is great for entertaining at any time of year. Beautiful bedrooms, a large main kitchen and each property able to be self contained means the families can share and have privacy when needed. Welcombe is a rural community amid quiet country lanes on the Devon Cornwall border. There is a nearby pub serving quality meals and a small store selling necessities. The seaside town of Bude is about ten miles away with supermarkets. shopping, restaurants and nightlife. Excellent surfing can be found on many of the beaches in the area.

Welcombe valley is one of the most beautiful in all Devon, with quiet country lanes, woodlands and a picturesque beach close to the house. Being on the South West Coast Path there are stunning walks and vistas and it remains calm and relaxed even in high summer.

What makes this house unique

This house is ideal for large family gatherings. With large areas for social gathering at meal times and plenty of gardens and lawns. There is a wood fired Sauna next to the stream, and a huge garden table.

Having three self contained cottages in the property means that there is always a place to relax for everyone.

There is a pub a short walk away, and the town of Bude is close enough to fill up with provisions at the supermarkets or hire surfing equipment.

5 minute walk to Welcombe Mouth, a glorious secluded beach with waterfall, rockpools and interesting rock formations. There is no lifeguard.

Hartland village 5 miles. Hartland Quay 5 miles. Clovelly fishing village 10 miles. Bude 10 miles.

A little piece of Paradise

This beautiful, spacious, well-kept, sprawling house provided the perfect venue for our family holiday - 9 adults and 4 children (2-9). We were welcomed with the makings of a Devonshire Cream Tea, and vases of fresh flowers, which, after our very long journey, were especially appreciated. Such consideration has gone into everything, from the superb furnishings and high-end linens, to the excellently equipped kitchens and the quality children's books and games. Anything we needed or wanted, we could find - including beach towels, large platters/bowls for a crowd like ours, a whole drawerful of spoons ... The gardens are extensive, with many little nooks for some quiet space, and grass for the children to play, and the wood-fired sauna was well-utilized. We rented all three units - the Main House, the Dungeon (fascinating history!), and the Cottage - so there was ample space for everyone, and each section was fully equipped in its own right. The only suggestion for improvement would be to provide safety bars on the upper bunk beds in both the main house and the cottage - a little too high and unsafe for the little ones. We took advantage of the nearby beach, the South West Coast Path, and the local pub, the Smithy, where we found a Beer and Cider Festival with excellent live music, and the biggest selection of beers/ciders we had ever seen. If we have the chance to return to Strawberry Water, we shall most definitely take it!
