About the Owner

My husband and I live and work in London and bought this house as a holiday and weekend home in 2005 after renting in Itchenor for 5 years. With the help of an excellent local architect and skilled labour we virtually rebuilt the house, equipping it with every modern convenience. It retains many original features and has the true feeling of a family home as many guests have attested.

Our two children are now both at University and whilst we still love to visit Itchenor where we have many friends we use the house less than we did when they were younger and have decided to make it available to others.

We have always gained so much from our trips to Itchenor for holidays and short breaks. I am sure you will also.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great stay at Mike's house in Itchenor. The house is extremely comfortable and spacious with large bedrooms, modern bathrooms and open living spaces. It was cosy in Winter and ideal for our group at New Year. Also I imagine it would be wonderful in Summer given the lovely garden, pool and nearby beach in West Wittering. (If you are not there in beach weather, its surprisingly quick to get to Portsmouth and the historic dockyard which is worth a visit). Mike was helpful and prompt to respond to any queries. I would definitely recommend a stay!

Relaxing stay in spacious family home

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a relaxing stay for three generations (two parents, one grandparent and three children) and we found it at Street House in Itchenor. The size, layout and facilities in the house meant that we all instantly felt at home and comfortable. The whole house is light, airy and easy to relax in.

Our daughter, who is about to take her A levels, found it a great place to revise and we found plenty to do while she did so.

We started every morning by walking the dog along the shoreline in Itchenor or on the beach at nearby West Wittering, which set us up for the day before taking trips out in the afternoon.

More of a home than a house

  • 5 of 5

We spent nine days at the house and really enjoyed our stay. The description of the house is accurate, but the rooms are actually much larger than the pictures let us think. It was warm when we arrived (very important when traveling with little children!) and spotless. It is very well equiped, and is more of a home than a rental house. Despite the unfortunate weather the children thoroughly enjoyed the trampoline. A big thanks to Janet who bought a travel cot just for us and a toy especially for our children. Lovely walks close by along the sea/harbour, about a 10mn drive to the beach (The Witterings).

The perfect holiday rental!

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a 2 week stay at this fantastic holiday house in Itchenor with our 3 young boys. I was not expecting the house to live up to the photos (as is often the case), but it actually exceeded them. It was immaculately maintained, with a practical, spacious and very comfortable layout and very well equipped. The sunny garden, heated pool and Italian style outside eating area were the highlights. So was it the 'cinema room', the bright and airy modern kitchen and comfortable bedrooms! The location next to the pub and short walk from the sailing club and coastal walks were also fantastic.

The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful, from providing useful information about the area and services to making sure we were very comfortable.

I would definitely recommend the house to friends. ..although I'd rather keep it a secret! We will be returning!

Fantastic home!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing week stay at Street House it could not have been better! The house was immaculate, so comfortable, the layout was just perfect for a larger group. The pool and gardens were beautiful - we found it hard to leave! Then there's the next great thing - the location is ideal, a pub 1 minutes walk with great food/ atmosphere, the sea 2 minutes walk, wonderful cycle routes right on the doorstep, the Witterings & amazing beaches 5 minutes drive. It has it all, lovely, lovely - we've already booked again next year!!! could not ask for more....perfect.

Summer Sailing in Itchenor

  • 5 of 5

We rented Street House for two weeks as a family to be close to the nearby sailling club whilst we attended a two week regatta. We found the house to be immaculate on arrival and had a handover from the owner. The house is very thoughtfully laid out and we loved the seperate area for wet sailing clothes etc. The bathrooms and bedrooms were also well a good size, well placed and beatufully modern, giving everybody in our family some private space. The kitchen is light bright and sunny and overlooks the pool which is a nice feature. All fully stocked with all the equipment that one would need. The sitting rooms are comfortable and the fact that there are two areas to "sit soft" as they say was great too. There is ample parking for up to 4 or 5 cars at the front of the house and it is a two minute walk to the harbour, some great walks on the tow path and less than a minute to the local pub. We had a happy time there and hope to return next year. I would give this a top rating without hesitation.

Fabulous holiday home

  • 5 of 5

We arrived with our son and daughter-in-law and their two boys aged 2 and 4 to a warm welcome from the owner Michael. The house absolutely exceeded our expectations, and I am very fussy! It was bright, beautifully clean and spacious. The kitchen was enormously and came with everything a serious cook would want - much better than most holiday homes which can be a bit basic. The beds were lovely and extremely comfortable. But the best bit was the garden. Beautifully planted with a large grassed area for the boys to run around and play on the trampoline and with a stunning swimming pool that was heated to 85F. I was initially concerned about safety for the children around the pool, but if you're not out there with them, you can cover the pool incredibly easily with a motorised pool cover worked with a simple key. All in all a lovely holiday home. We intend to return!

From the Owner

We bought the house so my husband could indulge his passion for sailing and our two children could learn to sail also. With Itchenor Sailing Club just 200 yards away the location could not be more convenient. Lazy days on the beach at nearby West Wittering and walks around nearby East Head (National Trust) are also highlights for us.
