Overview

About the property

Cottage in Penarth, Nr. Cardiff, Wales - Peaceful Location, 2 Mins Walk From Station

Set in a conservation area in the pretty town of Penarth, the cottage is very easy to access both on public transport and by car. The cottage has everything you need for a short break. It is a great base for exploring the area as well as being comfortable to come back to at the end of the day. Modern insulation makes it very cosy inside and the garden is lovely to sit out in on warmer evenings. It is on a quiet street but is minutes away from Penarth's sea front, restaurants and coffee shops and only a short train ride from Cardiff in one direction and Barry Island in the other.

About Cathie Jackson and Julia Nasrallah

Welcome to our holiday home. I (Julia) work for the British Council overseas and stay in Trehafod with my family whenever we pop back to the UK for a visit. We hope that you will enjoy your holiday in our home.

Our favourite activities when in Penarth are walking on the beautiful clifftops for some peace or over the barrage to the restaurants and cafes of Cardiff Bay. We always try and make sure we see a show at the Millennium Centre and there are no shortage of activities to keep the children happy during our stays.

Because we are away our friend Cathie takes care of everything as she lives near-by. So if you want to talk to someone in person she is on hand to answer queries.

Cathie Jackson and Julia Nasrallah purchased this cottage in 2011

Guestbook comments from the owner

“We had a lovely weekend at the house. The location is quiet and well situated near a great selection of local shops. Both the seafront and local park are within easy reach which was great for the children. We found the house itself to be charming, spacious, comfortable and warm, with a well equipped kitchen. We would happily make a return visit". Clive Warwick

"We visited with our 4 year old. The cottage was easy to find, well laid out and very comfortable. The garden is a nice size, secure & child-friendly. The cottage is tucked away in a quiet road near the station, and a few minutes drive from the sea front, parks, and shops or a 10 minute walk. Penarth was a revelation with lovely water front & great restaurants. A lovely weekend, which has whetted our appetite for more excursions into South Wales, especially now that we have found a great place to stay. Top marks for a great cottage". Mr and Mrs Hills

Fantastic stay in gorgeous cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing three days in Penarth at Trehafod. Like a tardis! Very well presented, comfortable and has everything you could possibly want. Very convenient for walking around Penarth, the seafront and surrounding area. Parking easy. Very good sized bedrooms and comfy beds. Good local eateries. Would love to come again! Thanks.

We had a lovely short break here and we would stay again. Very well placed for visiting Cardiff and the surrounding area. Well kitted out and the beds are very comfortable. The area was quiet and we had no trouble parking close to the cottage.

A comfortable and spotlessly clean cottage

  • 4 of 5

The cottage is cosy and well equipped, having everything we needed. Trehafod is very convenient for the railway station - it's about 12 minutes on a train to Cardiff city centre. The cottage is well decorated and well maintained, an excellent base for a short break in an interesting area of Wales.

Excellent

  • 5 of 5

The property is perfect - modern, comfy and well equipped. It’s an easy walk to the shops and restaurants in penarth. The train station is at the end of the road and a quick train ride takes you into Cardiff. Everything in the property worked and was clean with comfy beds. We would recommend this property. Parking nearby during the week was tricky and we were conscious we didn’t want to block any residents access but we always found a spot not too far away. The property makes a lovely base to explore Penarth, Cardiff and the surrounding coastline. Barry island isn’t too far away and on a sunny day would make a great traditional seaside trip for young children with a very clean beach. We enjoyed walking to the pier at Penarth and the Crazy Cafe made a great stop before the climb back up.

Superb - couldn’t have been better

  • 5 of 5

Excellent communication from Cathie and Julia from my initial enquiry throughout.Their dIrections made the house easy to find - and we got parked right outside.Bright , clean ,comfortable and very well equipped , this holiday rental was perfect for our week-end to the Cardiff area.Penarth is a traditional coastal town and we enjoyed a walk along the sea front and the pier. The train station to Cardiff is just a few minutes walk from the house , with a return ticket costing only £4 each - or £3 each with a group of 3 or more.We were there for the 6 Nations rugby and the stadium is minutes from the station. We also visited Cardiff Castle and had a look at the extensive range of shops available in the city centre.Cardiff is flat so easy to walk around. We would absolutely recommend this little gem , and wouldn’t hesitate to book it again if we’re back in the area.
