About the property

Cottage in Penarth, Nr. Cardiff, Wales - Peaceful Location, 2 Mins Walk From Station

Set in a conservation area in the pretty town of Penarth, the cottage is very easy to access both on public transport and by car. The cottage has everything you need for a short break. It is a great base for exploring the area as well as being comfortable to come back to at the end of the day. Modern insulation makes it very cosy inside and the garden is lovely to sit out in on warmer evenings. It is on a quiet street but is minutes away from Penarth's sea front, restaurants and coffee shops and only a short train ride from Cardiff in one direction and Barry Island in the other.

About Cathie Jackson and Julia Nasrallah

Welcome to our holiday home. I work for the British Council overseas and stay in Trehafod with my family whenever we pop back to the UK for a visit. We hope that you will enjoy your holiday in our home.

Our favourite activities when in Penarth are walking on the beautiful clifftops for some peace or over the barrage to the restaurants and cafes of Cardiff Bay. We always try and make sure we see a show at the Millennium Centre and there are no shortage of activities to keep the children happy during our stays.

Because we are away our friend Cathie takes care of everything as he lives near-by. So if you want to talk to someone in person he is on hand to answer queries.

Cathie Jackson and Julia Nasrallah purchased this cottage in 2007

Guestbook comments from the owner

“We had a lovely weekend at the house. The location is quiet and well situated near a great selection of local shops. Both the seafront and local park are within easy reach which was great for the children. We found the house itself to be charming, spacious, comfortable and warm, with a well equipped kitchen. We would happily make a return visit". Clive Warwick

"We visited with our 4 year old. The cottage was easy to find, well laid out and very comfortable. The garden is a nice size, secure & child-friendly. The cottage is tucked away in a quiet road near the station, and a few minutes drive from the sea front, parks, and shops or a 10 minute walk. Penarth was a revelation with lovely water front & great restaurants. A lovely weekend, which has whetted our appetite for more excursions into South Wales, especially now that we have found a great place to stay. Top marks for a great cottage". Mr and Mrs Hills

Good location minutes walk from the park, the pier and numerous restaurants.

The cottage is nicely laid out and furnished, the back yard gets the afternoon sun. The kitchen was fine for our needs. Upstairs the extra wide double bed was a treat and our daughter was comfy in the twin room.

Lovely place

Great location, a short train journey from Cardiff centre. Nice local shops and restaurants, and the pier is great with little cinema. Much better than staying in the city. Spotless, warm and well furnished. Very easy arrival with key safe. Highly recommended.

Thanks for renting us your super little cottage for the weekend. Comfortable, clean, well equipped, close to Penarth town centre with plenty of places to eat, railway station and short walk down to sea. We hope to return, in fact April has already been suggested, this time for a 40th birthday party.

Very well placed for Cardiff, comfortable, clean & all amenities needed including good wifi signal.

The owners are very helpful. Penath is a lovely town so it's worth a look around. We used the Railway Walk to get to the station from the barn. It's a traffic free foot path that takes you directly to the station where the trains are very frequent. Or you can walk the other way along the Railway Walk, it goes on for some way until you reach the coastal path & shore line. Lots of lovely walks around Cardiff too. We are both vegetarian & Cardiff is a vegetarians' paradise. We found at least 10 vegetarian/vegan restaurants all with very varied menus. The Barn has every facility that you will need including a washing machine, iron & board & good wifi. It's very cosy & warm & if you go when the weather is cooler you have a good central heating system, however our only complaint is that the boiler is placed in one of the bedrooms & is quite noisy when it keeps firing up in the night time. So I would advise you to turn it off when you are sleeping. We would definitely stay there again next time we come to Cardiff. I would definitely recommend it to family & friends. Saint Fagans & Cardiff Castle are really worth a visit. Happy holidays. Alex Clarke

Truly a home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Stayed four nights. Met my extended family in Cardiff each day as part of family ancestry trip to visit our roots.

Quiet street, all amenities you could possibly ask for, clean and comfortable. Slept very well. Short walk to train station. Short walk to grocery store. Shopping availablenin the village, and a lovely cliff walk. Walked to next town to see the restored medieval village at Cosmeston but could easily have taken a bus. Village people helpful and kind. Penarth is a Victorian seaside village, very picturesque. Did not have time but could easily have walked the Barrage over to Cardiff or taken the waterbus. It rained every day and I was out and about each day, but there was a small, quiet garden in the back that was very private and it looked very inviting.
