Peaceful Haven Surrounded By Vineyards, Olive Groves And Lavende

Chaudon is a stunning property that dominates the local countryside, overlooking vineyards and olive groves with views to the distant hills. Secluded but not isolated this luxurious Medieval Bastidon is part of a 5 acre property suitable for family holidays throughout the year. There is a second property that is not being let so you get the exclusive access to all facilities, including pool, barbecue on large terrace and area for small children with playhouse, swings and sandpit. The historic village of Cotignac, with its two Sarasin towers, provides banks, shops, restaurants, pharmacy, doctors, dentists and a very colourful market on Tuesday mornings, plus a smaller one on Friday mornings during the summer season. Sandy beaches on the Côte d'Azur are easily accessible.

A welcome gift is provided on arrival that comprises a bottle of the owners` favourite local Rosé wine plus food staples for your first breakfast such as bread, butter, milk and eggs. Towels/Linen provided free of charge. Cleaning before arrival and after departure included in the weekly rent. Basic cleaning materials provifed Amenities/Facilities: Barbecue, Heated pool, Parking, Internet, UK satellite TV Outside: The pool is 13m x 6m, 1.30m at shallow end, 2.50m at deep end, with a hard security cover and salt purification system; the pool is heated to prolong the season (late April - end October, weather permitting). A new diving board was installed in 2012. There is a solar shower and a cold water sink by the pool with city water (drinkable), lots of deckchairs and pool accessories, ping-pong table and refrigerator in the pool house. The house is only a couple of terraces up from the pool but far enough for privacy. Beside the BBQ terrace (tables and chairs), there is an additional terrace with a large table and chairs situated above the fish bassin under a big tree. The property has a large elevated fish bassin and is near a river so small children need constant supervision.

Magical Property in the Heart of Provence

This is a delightful property. The Bastidon is old but has been renovated to a high standard by the owners Miruna and David who own the other building on the property and utilise it as a holiday home. By chance they were there when we arrived and made us feel very welcome though for the rest of the week we had the extensive gardens as well as the Bastidon (which translates as a small country character house typical of Provence) to ourselves. The top two floors make up the holiday villa and are equipped to a high standard with a kitchen/living room and a toilet on the 'ground' floor and two bedrooms and a bathroom on the upper floor. Towels, bedding and kitchen essentials are all included as is a welcome pack of milk, butter etc. in the fridge. The gardens are lovely and include a barbecue area and a large pool with sunbeds and a ping pong table. There's even a fridge to cool your poolside beer and wine! The pool is heated and was extremely pleasant. It is also very secluded.

The location is of course rural, some 2 km outside of Cotignac which is a typically delightful Provencal village with its fair share of bars, restaurants, shops and boulangeries. There's a Spar in the village but a decent sized supermarket is a ten to fifteen minute drive away. Although you can walk into the village a car is pretty much essential. The surrounding area is a mass of vineyards and olive groves. Nice is about an hour and a half drive away. If you want a day at the seaside it will take you about an hour. There are a number of tourist spots nearby but by and large this appears to be a quiet part of Provence. This just increased its appeal to us.

Many thanks to Miruna and David for making this property available and their local manager Susan for making us feel very welcome. It was a perfect base for our week in Provence. We loved it.

Ein rundum toller Urlaub!

Die Buchung und die Kommunikation lief aus unserer Sicht sehr gut. Anhand der zugesendeten Anleitung, haben wir das Haus gut gefunden und wurden sehr nett vor Ort empfangen. Das Grundstück ist sehr gepflegt und das Haus ist super ausgestattet. Alles ist so wie auf den Bildern. Für unsere beiden Jungs gab einen kleinen Spielplatz, ein Spielhäuschen und einen Sandkasten. Am Pool haben Vorgänger noch aufblasbares Wasserspielzeug dagelassen, sodass wir uns damit auch vergnügen konnten. Für jeden (2 Erwachsne und 2 Kinder) gab es ausreichend Handtücher, der Kühlschrank war mit einen kleinen Frühstück für den nächsten Tag bestückt (inkl. einener Flasche sehr guten Wein), es gab Gewürze zum Kochen und für die Spül- und Waschmaschine entsprechende Mittel. Wir haben da schon schlechte Erfahrungen gemacht und mussten erst noch Klopapier etc. einkaufen gehen. Das ist hier überhaupt nicht der Fall.

Der Fischteich, die Grillecke und auch der Pool sind wirklich toll und einladend!

Die Ansprechpartnerin vor Ort war jederzeit erreichbar wenn es Rückfragen gab.

Cotignac ist ein tolles Städtchen, das viel Programm (super Wochenmarkt, Musik-Events, Wein-Festivals...), ein schönes Ambiente und eine gemütliche Atmosphäre mit netten Menschen bietet.

Wir haben unseren Urlaub wirklich sehr genossen und können das Haus nur weiterempfehlen!

Wonderful Place

The Chaudon property was a wonderful place for our vacation. When we arrived everything was ready and we received a warm welcome. The property was clean, spacious and charming. The garden, olive tree fields and the pool area were perfectly maintained and we had great time. The nearby village of Cotignac is very nice, with little stores, Provencal market and a few good restaurants. We already recommended to our friends and family.

Provencal paradise!

I would have no hesitation in recommending this property. It was clean and very well maintained. The gardens, pool and BBQ area are fabulous. We spent one week here in August and were never short of things to see and do. We were so impressed we have already booked to return next year.

property was even better than anticipated, excellent facilities inside and out. we were greeted and shown around property in detail.

Lovely village only 2 km away with great choice of restaurants and also a good supermarket only 5 minutes by car. would be very happy to recommend this property for a vacation.

Sandy Mediterranean beaches on the Var coastline between Ste Maxime and Hyères (75km) are approx 1h plus away by car.


Airports: Nice, Toulon/Hyères and Marseille (85km) are each 1 hour 30 minutes away. The property is 20-30 minutes from the Brignoles exit (20km) off the A8 motorway. The French TGV rail service calls at Marseille (1 hour 15 minutes - 75km), Toulon (1 hour 15 minutes) and Les Arcs/Draguignan (45 minutes).

A car is essential.


The town of Cotignac (population 2,000) is 2kms away from the property. Other local towns are Carcès (10 minutes by car) and Brignoles (30 minutes).

Further Details:

Cotignac is one of the most beautiful villages in France and has a lively, colourful weekly market on Tuesday mornings, and most nearby villages/towns have weekly markets. Cotignac has all the basic facilities - doctor, bank, ATM, three bakers, butcher, a fishmonger, two grocery stores, pharmacy, hairdressers, hardware store.

There are many cafes and restaurants in the village (a list of them can be found in the property) which make Cotignac a gourmet paradise where you can savour locally produced cheeses, wines and olives.

Cotignac has a couple of antique shops which sell beautiful restored furniture and a couple of art galleries and souvenir shops.

There are a number of excellent restaurants in nearby villages and towns. Locally available activities include tennis, hiking, swimming, fishing and watersports on the magnificent Lac Ste Croix.

Other towns and villages of interest in the vicinity include Aups, Salernes, Sillans La Cascade, Carces, Entrecasteaux and slightly further-a-field Grasse,St Tropez and the coast and Aix-en-Provence. The surrounding towns and villages have much to offer: abbeys, chateaux and other buildings of historic interest, markets, and tree lined streets full of local character. There are also vineyards to visit. The Gorges du Verdon (France's answer to the Grand Canyon) and the lake of Ste Croix are just one hour away and provide an unforgettable experience. The area is also rich in fauna/flora.
