Pelennor is a 2-bedroom apartment, ideally located 5 minutes’ walk from beautiful Porthminster Beach and St Ives town with its delightful mix of shops, galleries, pubs, cafes and restaurants. Why not wake up to lovely views from the Juliet balcony across the rooftops to the Island and St Nicholas Chapel and the ocean beyond…then breakfast in the bright open plan bay window looking towards Carbis Bay. We have re-furbished Pelennor to a very high standard, preserving the original corniced ceiling in the lounge/kitchen and added solid oak wood flooring. The two bathrooms comprise a contemporary ensuite and family bathroom with spacious corner shower and the added luxury of a free-standing bath. The bedrooms both have charming cream Victorian-style bedsteads and adjustable wall-mounted TVs. We're less than 10 minutes’ walk from bus and train stations; access by car could not be easier with space for two cars right outside. About Mark Shelley

Hello, my name is Paula and my husband Mark and I started visiting St Ives in November 2008 and have returned every year since. St Ives and the Cornish coast have become very special to us and we decided to try and buy a little piece of it in Autumn 2012. We were delighted to take possession of Pelennor in February 2013 and spent the next six months carefully preparing it for our first guests.

Why Mark Shelley chose St Ives area

Pelennor is part of Porthminster Terrace, which has so many advantages, not least its proximity to one of the most beautiful beaches in England. We love the character of the apartment with its high ceilings and fabulous views to the front and back and the fact that you can enjoy all the convenience of being in St Ives at the same time as being able to escape from the hustle and bustle when you want to.

What makes this apartment unique

One of the most obvious benefits is the view in both directions; towards the 'island' with the ancient St Nicholas Chapel perched on the hill top in one direction, and Carbis Bay and the distant horizon in the other. Our apartment is equipped and furnished to a very high standard, being brand-new in August 2013. Finally, to find a property in St Ives town with one parking space would have been a challenge - we have two!

Good location, quiet, lovely flat.

A lovely flat, beautifully done. Love the modern freshness. The only downside has been the Internet- yes it's technically connected but I couldn't download my paper etc and usually resorted to my phone and 4G.

The "stunning" view of St Ives can only be seen if standing up at the back bedroom window!

Overall though we've loved the flat and would strongly recommend it to others.

Fantastic Apartment in a Great Location

Just returned from a week stay at the apartment and can't fault it.....well equipped and maintained in a great location in our favourite place in the UK.....St Ives. Had an absolutely fabulous Christmas. Booking and property access arrangements were simple and communications were excellent. Paula and Mark were so easy to do business with and their attention to detail at the apartment made our stay most enjoyable and relaxing. Don't be put off by the shared entrance hall, once you enter the apartment you will struggle to find fault regarding the facilities and cleanliness. We stayed there with our daughter and son-in-law and we are planning to return in 2017. Excellent location for exploring St Ives and the surrounding areas........having a property with two parking spaces was a real bonus. The absence of a wardrobe in the twin bedroom was a minor inconvenience but there was apply draw space, a coat stand with hangers and under bed suitcase storage space which more than compensated for this.

St Ives Apartment

It must have been about 50 years ago when I last ventured into St Ives. My partner and I usually now holiday Lisbon but the only time you should not go there is between November and April because the Portuguese think that central heating is for wimps.

So for my birthday Sarah booked the Pelennor for just three nights, we have since rebooked for 5 nights early next year. The apartment has everything you could wish for and is fully equipped all the mod cons. It is well maintained and it has 'central heating'

Also it has car parking and if you have never been to St Ives before then trust me, parking a car in low season is pretty bad but in high season it must be impossible. Waking into town is just down the hill, turn left at the first junction and then go down the steps on the right and you into the heart of the town.

So to summarise, the apartment is well maintained, it is well situated to get in and out of the town, it has all of the comforts of home, car parking for two cars and 'central heating'.

Sarah and I are looking forward to visiting Pelennor next year'

A Great Week in St Ives(Flat 2 PorthminsterTterrace)

Don't be fooled by the entrance hall. The apartment is amazing!

This is a fabulous apartment, situated brilliantly for Porthminster beach and the town centre. The interior was just lovely; clean, spacious and furnished to a high standard. It was bright and airy, with the added bonus of being able to see the sea from the front and the back. It was a real treat to sit in bed with a coffee and a view of the sea.

We would definitely recommend this property.

Coast/Beach:

Porthminster Beach (5 minutes' walk) has excellent facilities and views of St Ives Bay and Godrevy Lighthouse; it is a fine sandy beach with normally calm, clear waters.

Harbour Beach (5 minutes’ walk) can be a perfect sun-trap. Porthgwidden (less than 10 minutes’ walk) is sheltered under the Island and has fine, golden sands. Porthmeor (less than 10 minutes’ walk) is popular with families and surfers alike, is home to a surf school in peak seasons and equipment can be hired and lessons taken.

Travel:

The nearest airport is Newquay (approximately 45 minutes’ drive away).

Exeter International airport is 114 miles or about 2 hours 20 minutes’ drive away.

Distances:

5 minutes’ walk to beautiful Porthminster Beach, town centre and harbour.

Less than 10 minutes’ walk to Tate St Ives and Barbara Hepworth museum.

Penzance 20 minutes’ drive, Minack Theatre 30 minutes’ drive, Land’s End 35 minutes’ drive, Truro 40 minutes’ drive, Eden Project 1 hours’ drive. The whole of the surrounding area is ideal for keen walkers, the South West Coast Path being within 5 minutes with spectacular views in both directions. St Michael's Mount is within a half-days' walk.

Further Details:

We are very close to all that St Ives and the West Cornwall area have to offer. There are numerous restaurants and pubs within a 10 minute walk of the apartment and a post office, all major banks and convenience stores all 5 minutes away. The nearest out of town supermarket is a 5 minute drive. The Tate St Ives and Barbara Hepworth museum are both close by (within 10 minutes' walk) as well as many art galleries and interesting local shops.

  • Notes on accommodation: Pelennor is newly refurbished and all furnishings, equipment and decorations are brand new as at August 2013. It is available for rent for whole weeks Saturday to Saturday all year round and for part weeks outside of the peak periods (prices for part weeks on application). The apartment has been carefully and lovingly decorated to create a bright and warm atmosphere so that in the summer months in particular the sunshine can be enjoyed, while in autumn and winter it is cosy and warm, being newly insulated with full central heating. Everything St Ives has to offer can be accessed on foot or if you wish to explore further, you can be out of town in minutes by car. Outside: The apartment has two reserved parking spaces immediately outside the front door to the property. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen and towels for use in the apartment is provided. The apartment is cleaned weekly on changeover day. Change of linen available at extra cost. Other: The apartment has two reserved parking spaces directly outside the front door for two average-sized saloon cars.
