Pelennor is a 2-bedroom apartment, ideally located 5 minutes’ walk from beautiful Porthminster Beach and St Ives town with its delightful mix of shops, galleries, pubs, cafes and restaurants. Why not wake up to lovely views from the Juliet balcony across the rooftops to the Island and St Nicholas Chapel and the ocean beyond…then breakfast in the bright open plan bay window looking towards Carbis Bay. We have re-furbished Pelennor to a very high standard, preserving the original corniced ceiling in the lounge/kitchen and added solid oak wood flooring. The two bathrooms comprise a contemporary ensuite and family bathroom with spacious corner shower and the added luxury of a free-standing bath. The bedrooms both have charming cream Victorian-style bedsteads and adjustable wall-mounted TVs. We're less than 10 minutes’ walk from bus and train stations; access by car could not be easier with space for two cars right outside. Ideal for two couples, a family of four, or a romantic break for 2. The property is not only within easy access of the beach and town but there is also the local tennis and golf clubs. About Mark Shelley

Hello, my name is Paula and my husband Mark and I started visiting St Ives in November 2008 and have returned every year since. St Ives and the Cornish coast have become very special to us and we decided to try and buy a little piece of it in Autumn 2012. We were delighted to take possession of Pelennor in February 2013 and spent the next six months carefully preparing it for our first guests.

Why Mark Shelley chose St Ives

Pelennor is part of Porthminster Terrace, which has so many advantages, not least its proximity to one of the most beautiful beaches in England. We love the character of the apartment with its high ceilings and fabulous views to the front and back and the fact that you can enjoy all the convenience of being in St Ives at the same time as being able to escape from the hustle and bustle when you want to.

What makes this apartment unique

One of the most obvious benefits is the view in both directions; towards the 'island' with the ancient St Nicholas Chapel perched on the hill top in one direction, and Carbis Bay and the distant horizon in the other. Our apartment is equipped and furnished to a very high standard, being brand-new in August 2013. Finally, to find a property in St Ives town with one parking space would have been a challenge - we have two!

Notes on accommodation: Pelennor is newly refurbished and all furnishings, equipment and decorations are brand new as at August 2013. It is available for rent for whole weeks Saturday to Saturday all year round and for part weeks outside of the peak periods (prices for part weeks on application). The apartment has been carefully and lovingly decorated to create a bright and warm atmosphere so that in the summer months in particular the sunshine can be enjoyed, while in autumn and winter it is cosy and warm, being newly insulated with full central heating. Everything St Ives has to offer can be accessed on foot or if you wish to explore further, you can be out of town in minutes by car. Outside: The apartment has two reserved parking spaces immediately outside the front door to the property. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen and towels for use in the apartment is provided. The apartment is cleaned weekly on changeover day. Change of linen available at extra cost. Other: The apartment has two reserved parking spaces directly outside the front door for two average-sized saloon cars.

Wonderful home from home by the Sea

Beautifully decorated and maintained apartment. Lovely views. Everything you may require is provided. Light airy rooms. Wonderful views from window seat in family room/kitchen and also from bedroom. Lying in bed looking at sea a bonus. A bathroom each was wonderful. Only a short break this time but will return and recommend this lovely property. Parking in St Ives also a wonderful addition. Congratulations to the owners for such a lovely property.

Great holiday apartment with wonderful ocean views

My wife and I have just returned home to the states after a month long stay at Pelennor. The apartment was our home away from home for the entire month. It is truly as advertised--beautifully refurbished and maintained, comfortably appointed, spacious with beautiful views of St Ives and the ocean from both the family room and the master bedroom.

All of the appliances are new and in good order. The two baths were spotless and equipped with modern showers, basins and heated towel racks.

During one of the weeks at Pelennor our son and daughter-in-law joined us, and there was plenty of room for the four of us. As other reviewers have noted, there are two dedicated off street parking spaces for the apartment--a special bonus of its own.

Some have mentioned that the hike up Tregenna Hill is a bit steep;; however, almost all accomadations are "up hill" in St Ives. It is part of the "experience."

The owners were very gracious both prior to our arrival and during our stay, providing suggestions and answering all of our queries. We would gladly stay at Pelennor again and can recommend it hghly and without reservation.

Lovely flat in an ideal location

Spent 4 nights in this lovely flat. It is immaculate, beautifully presented and a comfortable retreat after a busy day exploring.

Would thoroughly recommend this flat to others.

Gorgeous views from the master bedroom and living area and the vital parking space are also fantastic extras.

Would love to return again especially out of season as I enjoy it when it is a lot quieter.

Fabulous apartment in a great location

The property was a very high standard and was very clean and well looked after.

Very nice to have off street parking as can be a problem to park in St Ives.

Only a few minutes from the centre of St Ives and all bars and restaurants.

Nice surprise to have milk,coffee,tea and biscuits supplied for when we arrived.

All my family loved this apartment and can’t wait to return very soon.

Just wish we had stayed longer

A beautifully refurbished apartment in a great location. Everything about our stay was effortless and the apartment is done out to such a high standard it was a real pleasure to stay and we intend to book it again when we return to the beautiful town of St Ives.

It’s a 5-10minute stroll to the sea front. It has off street parking right outside.

We have stayed in a number of apartments in and out of the uk and this was the best yet. If you are browsing the huge number available in St Ives then stop and book this one now as you will not get better.

Porthminster Beach (5 minutes' walk) has excellent facilities and views of St Ives Bay and Godrevy Lighthouse; it is a fine sandy beach with normally calm, clear waters.

Harbour Beach (5 minutes’ walk) can be a perfect sun-trap. Porthgwidden (less than 10 minutes’ walk) is sheltered under the Island and has fine, golden sands. Porthmeor (less than 10 minutes’ walk) is popular with families and surfers alike, is home to a surf school in peak seasons and equipment can be hired and lessons taken.


The nearest airport is Newquay (approximately 45 minutes’ drive away).

Exeter International airport is 114 miles or about 2 hours 20 minutes’ drive away.


5 minutes’ walk to beautiful Porthminster Beach, town centre and harbour.

Less than 10 minutes’ walk to Tate St Ives and Barbara Hepworth museum.

Penzance 20 minutes’ drive, Minack Theatre 30 minutes’ drive, Land’s End 35 minutes’ drive, Truro 40 minutes’ drive, Eden Project 1 hours’ drive. The whole of the surrounding area is ideal for keen walkers, the South West Coast Path being within 5 minutes with spectacular views in both directions. St Michael's Mount is within a half-days' walk.

Further Details:

We are very close to all that St Ives and the West Cornwall area have to offer. There are numerous restaurants and pubs within a 10 minute walk of the apartment and a post office, all major banks and convenience stores all 5 minutes away. The nearest out of town supermarket is a 5 minute drive. The Tate St Ives and Barbara Hepworth museum are both close by (within 10 minutes' walk) as well as many art galleries and interesting local shops.

Our normal changeover day is Saturday; for short breaks out of season we try to be flexible, so please contact the owner if alternatives are required. Arrival time is 4pm, with departure by 10am on your last day.
