House in Tenby, Pembrokeshire, Wales - Easy Walking Distance To The Town Centre, Harbour And Local Amenities

Our holiday home is warm and welcoming with treated floorboards, open plan living and dining areas and a light airy feel. Fully equipped with central heating, wifi and all the conveniences of home (microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer). It comfortably sleeps seven in four bedrooms. There is a large bathroom with electric shower and a secure courtyard garden with outdoor dining area and chiminea. The kitchen, bathroom and back garden have all been refurbished for 2017.

There is limited free on street parking but there are 3 large car parks within 5 minutes walk that provide short and long term parking at reasonable rates:

About Rebecca Charnock Phillips

We are an Armed Forces family and have spent over 20 years following the flag. R was born and bred in Tenby and J found her when he was firing missiles at the nearby firing range at Manorbier. They met in a now defunct nightclub called Chequers, just outside Penally. Their eyes met across a crowded dancefloor and the rest is family history!

Why Rebecca Charnock Phillips chose Pembroke, Tenby, Saundersfoot & The South Coast

Ystrad is our family home, although we live most of the time in army quarters wherever J is based. We purchased it in 2013 and it is an ongoing project. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do and we warmly welcome any suggestions for sensible (and affordable) improvements. We trust that repeat visitors will see incremental changes as we gradually enhance the facilities, such as the refreshed bathroom, kitchen and back garden.

What makes this house unique

We love Tenby and the surrounding area. The easy access to great beaches, the beautiful green lanes of Pembrokeshire and fresh sea air. For a short stay you can park your car and forget it!

Tenby Golf Club is a short walk from Ystrad and the sailing club is located in the harbour about 15 minutes walk from the house. The house is a great base for the regular triathlons that literally run past its door. The location is perfect for accessing South Beach with its safe, RNLI life-guarded beach, deck chairs, ice cream van, coffee shop and bar & grill. The bustling market town of Tenby with numerous eateries, pubs, 2 craft breweries, art galleries, antique shops, Museum, Life Boat Station, picturesque working harbour is close enough to walk to in minutes, but far enough away that you can relax and unwind to the sound of gulls.

Further afield are the countless natural and historical attractions of Pembrokeshire. Nearby highlights are Narberth with its boutique arts and crafts and antique lanes, Folly Farm - a great day out for younger visitors and St David's with its stunning cathedral.

There is unpermitted parking on both Trafalgar Road and Harries Street as well as local permit spaces - visitor permits can be obtained in advance from Pembrokeshire County Council. There are 3 pay and display car parks within easy walking distance of Ystrad - Rectory, Five Arches and the Sainsbury's multi-storey. All do reasonable long stay rates.

Tenby's award winning beaches are a short walk from Ystrad. South beach is literally at the end of the road and has a full range of beach facilities - cafes, restaurant, deck chairs, ice cream vans etc. The beaches have RNLI lifeguard supervision and some allow dogs all year round.

Tenby and the local area cater for a wide range of water based activities including: sailing, surfing, power boating, jet and water skiing, coasteering, sea kayaking, kite and wind surfing, scuba diving, sea fishing.


Tenby is within 4 hours of London by road. Ystrad is within easy walking distance of Tenby Rail Station. Pembroke Dock ferry port, with regular sailings to Ireland is 30 minutes drive. Cardiff airport is 95 miles - about 2 hours drive away.

Tenby is a charming medieval walled town with a picturesque harbour and wonderful beaches. It is set in the heart of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park with 186 miles of Coastal Path stretching from Amroth in the South to St Dogmaels in the North. Combine that with the only coastal National Park in the UK, some of the most spectacular and varied coastline in the world, the Preseli mountains and over 621 miles of footpaths and bridleways then you truly have a walkers paradise.

But being a seaside town Tenby obviously caters for those who also like to get their feet wet. From surfing to jet-skiing, all watersports and activities are catered for.

For the less adventurous there are boat trips across to the monastery island of Caldey, sea safaris, mackeral fishing trips and seal watching excursions - all from the harbour.

All manner of water craft can be rented from kayaks to power boats and tuition in most activities is available. The nearby beaches of Manorbier and Freshwater are surfing hotspots and there is a friendly and lively sailing club that welcomes guest members.

Steeped in history there are castles, cathedrals, churches and chapels to be visited in the local area, as well as Dylan Thomas's Boathouse at Laugharne (20 miles away).

For nature lovers, the National Park provides a wonderful habitat for seabirds and puffins can be spotted at a number of locations. Marine life is also highly visible with seals and dolphins frequently spotted in the waters and coves around Tenby.

Tenby has a number of excellent pubs and restaurants that provide local fare in the form of seafood and local welsh products. Many have outdoor seating and there is a vibrant cafe culture in the summer months. During this period there are frequent events held in the harbour with live music, dancing and fireworks.

PLEASE CONTACT OWNERS FIRST FOR CONFIRMATION OF PRICE AND AVAILABILITY BEFORE BOOKING ON LINE. Outside: There is a small rear courtyard with seperate but secure access to the street. There is a small table and four chair outdoor dining set and a charcoal BBQ. There is an external hosepipe and shed. Utility Room: There is a washing machine and a tumble dryer, iron and ironing board in the utility room. Cleaning / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen is provided. Towels are NOT provided. End of stay laundry and cleaning is included in the rental charge. Mid-stay cleaning can be arranged at an additional cost. Please enquire when making your booking.

This house is equidistant (5 mins) to the town and the beach, and perfect for kids and adults alike. Beautiful light, exquisitely decorated, lots of cooking, eating and relaxing space, and a frankly stunning attic bedroom with balcony. Would stay again like a shot.
