House bathroom fully tiled with bath with powerful shower over, wc and whb wc, powerful shower in cubicle and whb in fully tiled en-suite facility to master bedroom.

Slate floor with oak units, double aspect West facing both garden and drive.

Electric hob and oven, washing machine, dish washer, microwave, fridge/freezer. Dining table for 4 persons. Substantial storage. Access to garden and drive from 3 stone steps.

Main lounge is south facing with two substantial sofas, occasional tables, chandelier and table lighting. Traditional feature tiled fireplace with local slate hearth. TV with DVD player. There is a 2nd sitting room. Secondary glazing to all rooms.

Towel, bath mat, and linen service. Duvets to all beds. Bedding and laundry changed each 7 days in extended lettings.

Why Mrs Dorothy Denham chose Ambleside

We purchased Todd Crag House in 2004 converting it into two self contained apartments. The upper, Todd Crag House has two bedrooms, the lower now known simply as Todd Crag has one bedroom, is very large and retains many of the original features. Considerable expense went into bringing the property up to current standards and restoring original features.

Following the first tranche of improvement with the complete restoration of the severely neglected substantial 'servants' accommodation in the grounds. This is now a fully fitted, damp proofed and very popular single bedroom detached cottage which, for the first four years was an 'owner bolthole'. it is now available to let and known as Azalea Cottage, named after the ancient plant rescued from the previously neglected and overgrown gard

I want to say how much we enjoyed our holiday in the cottage. Todd Crag is just the perfect size for the two of us and the dog and was extremely well equipped and so very warm and cosy.

We had a fabulous week enjoying our time doing the fantastic walks in the area that we love do much and the weather was so kind to us. We do hope to visit again next year and would love to use your cottage again.

Just wanted to thank you for the quality of your holiday property. My husband and I stayed at Todd Crag House last week with our daughter and son in law and it was so comfortable, fully equipped and convenient. We have visited the Lake District for many years, but this is the first time I was reluctant to return to our 'patch' in rural Cornwall....feel refreshed....hoping we will be able to return soon.

Just wanted to let you know we had a wonderful week at Todd Crag House.

It has a lovely cosy, homely feel and is very well equipped with everything needed to enjoy your stay. Great location, so nice to just be able to walk from the door and over the hills or along the river into Ambleside.

Would definitely recommend to others and will come back again ourselves.

Access to all ETB 4 Star properties are directly from the drive with sufficient parking for properties. Easy access to all properties. Visitors are provided with a code for a key safe at all properties. No need to travel for or return keys to a remote office. Pet friendly properties with large garden and close to excellent dog walking paths to the fells. Easy walking to Ambleside with bus stopping close to property. Close to River Brathy and local active church and parish centre. Kingfishers are a common sight along the river which is popular with boaters The mature garden is a haven for birdlife. It is frequented by numerous species including woodpeckers, jays, many types of tit, robins, siskins and many more! Often you will see and hear buzzards soaring above. The owners provide and stock feeders to encourage the birds. Occasionally deer will make an appearance! Outside: Azalea Cottage has a small cottage garden with an ancient Azalea plant. Patio furniture looking onto Wansfell. Seclusion from Todd Crag House garden provided by substantial laurel hedge. Separate ancient slate floored courtyard with garden furniture accessed from lounge. Todd Crag House has large lawned garden with mature planting, patio area with barbecue, benches and views of Wansfell to the east. Seasonal views of Lake Windermere. Visitors are welcome to take fruit from the orchard trees. Todd Crag has private secure cottage garden with mature planting and furniture. Ornithologists will welcome the wide range of species in the garden. The owners encourage bird life by supplying feeding stations. Views of Wansfell and the rocky outcrop behind known as Todd Crag. The elevated and rising garden to the rear has extensive views of the fells to the south. The gardens have a wide selection of local native plants. Banks of daffodils give a fabulous spring show. Gardens are not shared.

Great cottage in a great location.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Todd Crag House, everything we needed, warm and comfortable, appreciated the washing machine, tumble dryer and the daily milk(and other items) delivery. We could walk to town and do many walks from the cottage. Enjoyed walking to Sweden Bridge, then fuelled by "fell top ginger bread" from Apple Pie Bakery up onto Red Screes . Worth the hike for the fabulous views. A visit to Hill Top brought back happy childhood memories of Beatrix Potter's tales. Loved the trip on the steam yacht gondola at Coniston. We did lots of fell walking and need to return as there is so much more to do. Thank you so much for a lovely stay.
