Clover Barn & Keeper's Barn are two idyllic properties nestled in the centre of a working dairy & arable Cotswold farm, (but not intrusively so!).

Thoughtfully converted from working buildings, (Clover used to house the farm's calves - & Keeper's was used by the estate gamekeeper) they both have retained many of their original features including gorgeous exposed oak beams, spacious high ceilings & extraordinary views as well as tranquil privacy.

These historic farm buildings boast all the mod cons needed to make the perfect holiday destination, including WiFi access, well equipped and beautiful kitchens, and wonderful accommodation.

The furniture and decorations have been personally chosen with huge care by the owner The Countess Bathurst, as her one aim is that her guests feel as if the barns are truly 'homes from home'. A sentiment shared by her guests, many of whom love the cottages so much, they return again and again.

With cosy atmospheres and light airy surroundings, they've even had chandeliers recently installed, along with tasteful and colourful artwork.

And to make it easier for families who are travelling with little ones, a cot & high chair are also available for those who need them.

The Welcome Baskets are legendary, they even include treats for the children & family dog, & a genuinely warm greeting awaits each & every guest.

Within easy access of nearby Cirencester and the stunning Cotswolds beyond, guests can explore the lovely countryside at their leisure.

Situated as the two barns are, within the heart of the Kemble Park Farm Estate, both properties enjoy unbroken views and fabulous privacy, they have enclosed south facing gardens, are dog friendly, have private parking & are perfect for families.

There are plenty of fabulous local pubs (and some even offer our guests special discounts!), and amazing walks to enjoy.

There is plenty to entertain and to see in the local area and, as a special gift from The Countess, guests will also enjoy free membership to the nearby Cirencester Park Polo Club (during the polo season) for the duration of their stay.

And even if these are not your first choice of things to do on holiday and all you want (and possibly need!) is some rest - then you can just sit, relax and enjoy the lovely views across the countryside.

A spacious, light & airy converted Cotswold Barn, Clover provides a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the spectacular views across the countryside from the privacy of your own garden.

With carefully chosen cosy furnishings throughout, 3 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms, there is plenty of room for the whole family.

The entrance hall leads to the kitchen/dining room (newly refurbished December 2013), & a cosy sitting room leads on to the fabulous bedrooms.

WiFi & iPod docks are available & there is television with Freeview & a DVD player.

The garden is enclosed, & the spacious terrace with outside dining table & chairs, (& of course a barbecue), overlooks the fields beyond.

There's plenty of private parking either inside the gates - or better still just outside, so the garden can be enjoyed to the full - allowing full close access to the Barn.

The garden gate can be closed giving added security to children or dogs & the peace makes Clover Barn picture perfect!

About the Owner

Married to The 9th Earl (Lord) Bathurst, it's an incredibly busy life being at his side, running our Stately Home, Cirencester Park, helping to run the 15,000 acre estate the family has owned in the beautiful Cotswolds since 1695 - as well as the many charitable organisations I'm lucky enough to be involved with. Married since 1996, I've always felt that to manage holiday cottages would not only enhance the area, but add a different perspective to the running of The Bathurst Estate. It's never been done before & is now my pride & joy. Amongst my many interests, we have six very spoiled dogs & we also run an arable farm, as well as a small herd of organic (rare breed) Gloucester cattle.

No two days are the same here, & we love to share the estate with whoever is interested!

I initially chose this property for its proximity to the Royal Agricultural University, and the accommodation as we would be visiting with 2 sets of grandparents. The property was ideally suited with everything all on the one level. The large kitchen and lounge allowed us to be comfortable at all times, and the facilities suited our needs perfectly. The property was very warm particularly for the elderly and very clean. The peaceful surroundings added to the charm. The owner made us very welcome along with a basket of locally sourced goodies. Although we were there for only a short time there was plenty of information supplied had we wished to see more of the surrounding area. I would have no hesitation in returning to the property or recommending it, in fact we have now booked to use the smaller property nearby.

In 2013 The Phillips family who had owned Kemble Farms for approximately 70 years, felt it was time to move on and placed the 2,500 acre estate up for sale. As a family - we decided to add the farm to the long established Bathurst Estate, meaning we were once more dairy farmers, a part of agriculture we had missed since closing our old dairy at the end of the 90's. With the two established holiday cottages, and with Apsley Cottage (also listed on Owners Direct) doing well - it was a natural synergy for Lady Bathurst to embrace them within her management portfolio. The rest as they say, is history - and there's a whole new chapter to write!

Cirencester Park Polo Club is literally within 4 miles - & as a special treat and a gift from Lady Bathurst, guests will be able to enjoy membership throughout their stay, giving you the opportunity to enjoy this thrilling sport. *Please note that the polo season runs from mid-April to mid-September. There is no polo played during the winter.

The perfect location for walkers, there are endless choices for those who wish to explore the area on foot.

There are also a wide variety of wonderful pubs in the area, a number of which offer our guests exclusive special offers.

Coast/Beach:

Weston Super Mare, Clevedon, Sand Bay, Brean Beach, are the closest beaches. Approx 50 miles to each one.

Travel:

Bristol Airport is approximately 70 minutes drive from Kemble. For lighter aircraft, there is Cotswold Airport, which is literally about .5 mile away! Only very small aircraft, so don't worry about the noise - and if you're lucky you may spot the resident Spitfire or an old Hurricane practising aerobatics overhead!

ii) If booking is cancelled less than 4 weeks from date - regretfully a refund cannot be made.

Changeover Day:
Preferred changeover day is Friday. But this can be arranged at other times if the cottage is available. Short breaks are also available from Friday - Monday (or Tuesday). Week short breaks are from Monday (or Tuesday) - Friday (3 night minimum)

Notes on prices:
Please note that at certain times (i.e. Christmas/New Year), the prices may vary due to those periods being 'Peak Season'. At these times we accept bookings for complete weeks only & are unable to split them into short breaks.
Other times of the year are subject to the normal seasonal price changes (Winter - Spring - Summer - Autumn).

For those who have stayed at Keeper's Barn and Clover Barn before (they may remember them as Little Stalls & Big Stalls, but Lady Bathurst thought it a good time for new identities, so she chose ones that had something to do with the barns previous uses - hence Clover and Keeper's), there have been many additions since 2013. WiFi has been installed - iPod docks have been added - new kitchens fitted and Keeper's has been enhanced beyond recognition with the addition of a pull out sofa bed, among many other unique ideas to add comfort and enjoyment. There are plenty of other little touches that appear periodically - so we hope you enjoy the journey of discovery with us, & for returning visitors we hope you love the 'Lady B. Tweaks'! The truly unique benefit is the peace. Both Keepers and Clover are set within such undisturbed countryside, and right in the middle of the farm, privacy and tranquility are guaranteed. They both provide the ultimate escape from the madness of every day life. Absolutely lovely in every way.

  • Notes on accommodation: Clover - Entrance Hall leading to the right to a newly installed kitchen (2013) & table seating up to 8. Washing machine/dishwasher/electric hob & oven/fridge-freezer/kettle, toaster & microwave/hoover/iron & board. To the left of the hall lies the family sitting room, with wonderfully high ceilings & oak beams, cosy furniture, rugs, books, DVD's & TV with Freeview, & iPod dock. To the right of the Sitting Room is the Master Bedroom with Super King Size bed (can be split into twin beds). Luxurious shower bathroom & loo en suite. Through the other end of the sitting room lies Bedrooms 2 & 3, & Bathroom 2 (bath/shower, loo & basin). Both bedrooms are doubles & lead onto the terrace at the front. Fabulous views! Keeper's - Cosy & perfect. Left of the front hall is the bedroom with double bed. The bathroom next to it is well equipped & the kitchen area to the right of the entrance is brand new! Have a look at the photos for a great visual description. *Sofa Bed available* Outside: Both Keeper's Barn & Clover Barn have lovely enclosed gardens surrounded with complete Cotswold Stone Walls. They are simply designed, with a terrace & outside dining facilities, as well as a barbecue. The gardens are completely private and are south-facing with quite breathtaking views across the farm and countryside beyond. Catch the eye of a circling mewing buzzard overhead, or exchange a knowing nod with the neighbourhood pheasant, or spot a rare bird flitting amongst the arable fields.. The peace here is so deep that the passing of a rabbit or buzzing of a bumble bee can be heard clearly - to say nothing of the birdsong in the surrounding trees!
