Bluebell Cottage, Great Tew - Wonderfully Appointed Cottage In a Unique, Peaceful Location With Unspoilt Views For Miles

Bluebell Cottage lies in the quiet and secluded village of Great Tew, well known for the legendary Falkland Arms pub. The village is at the end of a country road within the Great Tew Estate. This means that there is no through traffic and the only vehicles are those of the few residents and their visitors. The cottage was built around 1850 from the local, golden Cotswold stone that is complemented by the beauty that only thatch can provide. Extensively modernised and updated, it now provides a luxurious, cosy hideaway furnished and equipped to a very high standard with full central heating and an open fire to keep you warm on even the coldest night. Uninterrupted views from the front of the cottage looking out across the beautiful Great Tew Estate are totally unique. There is even a wooden bench on the grass over the little lane for anyone that would like to sit and absorb the tranquility of the surroundings. Surprisingly, to the rear of the property is a large garden and private car parking as well as a shed for cyclists to store their bikes.

The cottage is absolutely beautiful! Thick golden cotswold stone walls and a lovely thatched roof .... how could you not love it?

Great Tew is an amazing village and a step back in time. Nothing much changes here we are pleased to say!

We love the location because it has a quiet, relaxing feel to it but is within easy reach of larger towns should the need ever arise to venture out into the big wide world!

Have a pint of local ale at the well renowned Falkland Arms where on some Sundays you will be joined by a live folk band.

The only problem you will face at Bluebell Cottage is that you may not want to leave!

Notes on accommodation: Bluebell offers the comfort of a home away from home and perfect for a long weekend, week or even longer to escape the bright lights and busy lives we all seem to live these days. The cottage itself benefits from thick stone walls and mullioned windows that keep the heat out in the summer and help keep the warmth in in the winter. Central heating radiators in every room help a lot! Situated in the beautiful Cotswolds, Bluebell Cottage is ideal for romantic getaways, family celebrations, couples and family holidays, walkers and cyclists etc. The cottage is ideal for all age groups and there is a travel cot as well as high chair and stairgate for young children. It is essential that children are supervised when the fire is lit to prevent accidents. Sorry no pets. Outside: On a sunny day, the garden is an attractive, peaceful suntrap with fruit trees, shrubs and wild flowers in abundance. Garden furniture is provided during the warmer summer months so you can relax in the sun on the patio at the back. There is a garden shed at the back suitable for storing bicycles. Please bring your own padlocks if required. In addition, there is an enormous expanse of parkland at the front of the house with park benches for taking in the views and country air or for children to play on the grass. Utility Room: There is an airer available for drying clothes inside if required. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: in keeping with the luxurious feel of Bluebell Cottage, lovely thick towels, crisp bed linen and soft duvets are all provided. The cottage is thoroughly cleaned and linen changed before each new guest arrives and at least once a week for longer stays.

We will be back!

The only thing we would have changed is staying longer. This is a wonderful home which makes you immediately feel comfortable and welcome. Hearing the birds in the morning and (thanks to our children) watching the sun rise over the field in front of the house was a special experience. I can say nothing bad about the house or our stay. Sorry for breaking a plate Karen!

Cotswold heaven!

A small but comfortable cottage in the gorgeous village of Great Tew. We love it here - the heart of the Cotswolds but easy to get to Chipping Norton and Oxford. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped - can't fault it! Our second time here and hopefully not the last.

Charming cottage in idyllic village

Bluebell offers everything you could need for a relaxing stay: a warm welcome, a charming fully equipped thatched cottage, the idyllic and unique village environment, and a fantastic village pub. As one of our party said: " I cried when I arrived and I cried when I left". It is perfectly situated to either curl up next to the fire or explore the surrounding countryside.

A cosy, comfortable Cottage in a great location.

We had a wonderful stay in the cottage which was well equipped. It was very cosy with the inglenook fire to sit by in the evening. The location was lovely and quiet - perfect. The local pub just a few metres up the road was friendly with good food - very handy.

The Cotswolds and its many famous villages, including Broadway and Bourton-on-the-Water are a paradise for explorers.

There are numerous tourist attractions throughout the Cotswolds for the whole family - ranging from Blenheim Palace, farm parks and potteries to a model village, falconry centre, aboretum, historic village trails and even a rainforest!

Shakespeare's birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon, with its wealth of cultural and historic attractions and the famous University town of Oxford, with its fabulous architecture, libraries and Colleges (not to forget the shopping!) are also nearby. For keen shoppers, you must visit Bicester Village Retail Outlet!

With numerous well trodden walking tracks, the opportunity for walking in the beautiful countryside is virtually unlimited.

For trout fishermen, the proximity of numerous chalk streams provides plenty of options. Close to Chipping Norton, Salford Lakes provides day tickets and a lot of fun!

Bluebell Cottage is very well equipped for our guests to prepare and enjoy their own gourmet delights.

The Falkland Arms pub, only a few steps away, offers some very good real ales and also has a new chef - the new menu is being very well received. It would be a good idea to book!

The beautiful little village cafe, Sweet Peas, provides a great breakfast and a range of home made delicacies throughout the day.

All this in a little village and within 100 yards of the cottage!!

Changeover Day:
Changeover days will typically be on a Friday for 7 day bookings and Friday or Monday/Tuesday for 3 day bookings.

Notes on prices:
Please note that our pricing is based on a week long stay, but to accommodate those only able to manage a shorter stay during the week or a long weekend, we also accept bookings for a minimum of 3 nights at certain times of the year. Please ask!

Also, Christmas & New Year weekly bookings start on a different day of the week as shown in the Pricing Table.
