The Pretty Black & White Village of Berriew with River Rhiew running through centre

The Cottage is attached to the owners property which has recently been converted to a high standard from The Old Corner Shop and Post Office. The Village consists of pretty black and white houses with the River Rhiew running through the centre of the village. The Cottage has excellent views of the village from the kitchen/diner window with all the local shops/pubs and church all located within a few yards from the door. The location is an ideal touring base for exploring Mid Wales either by car, cycling or walking.

Lovely home in a great location.

The property is excellent quality throughout and provides all the comforts you could need. It's location right in the village of Berriew is superb with an excellent local butcher, cafe and shop all just a few steps away.

The deck/patio is a real bonus.

A real gem!

A very comfortable and well equipped cottage in a lovely village location. The roof terrace is a lovely spot to catch the sun and watch the world go by. Great to have 2 bathrooms too. The kitchen is well equipped and we made use of the BBQ on the terrace. The location is a beautiful and peaceful village. The canal is a nice 5 miles walk into Welshpool. I would definitely recommend this property for a peaceful and relaxing break. It is a good base for seeing the area. The addition of WiFi kept our teenage children happy and scrabble made for some fun evenings! 10/10

Very comfortable

We had a lovely holiday in this very comfortable cottage. All amenities were great. We explored the area during our short stay and ended with a wonderful Sunday lunch at the local pub - Welsh lamb at its best!

Thank you for a great break.

It was especially lovely to arrive to milk in the fridge and a wonderful sponge cake - thank !.

We can thoroughly recommend this property to others.

A relaxing yet vibrant location.

Bright, comfortable and clean cottage with all essentials provided. We all thought we could live in this cottage permanently. We felt a part of this bustling, friendly little village yet found a relaxing retreat on the rear sun-terrace overlooking the river. The village is surrounded by green rolling countryside and is well placed for visiting tourist attractions such as the unmissable Powys Castle and gardens, Montgomery village and castle or the Welshpool Steam Railway.

A very well appointed cotage situated in the heart of the village.

A very enjoyable 3 night stay in May 2016. The cottage was a delight with everything you would need for a comfortable stay. Being located in the centre of the village everything was within easy walking distance including the 2 pubs serving good pub food. The decking overlooking the river was a real suntrap and very welcoming with a glass of wine in the evening. A good base to do some exploring of mid wales. A credit to the owner Heather and we hope to return soon.

Pretty Village location with a warm and friendly atmosphere.

The accommodation was clean, well presented and equipped. Our host was friendly and extremely helpful and obliging. A beautiful sponge cake awaited us on our arrival and went down well with a cup of tea. Thank you. The cottage was comfortable and clean with excellent views of the river. The balcony was an ideal spot to enjoy the sun (on the right day). A perfect place to relax and let the world go by. The location was central to many places to walk or visit a little further away by car.

A big thank you to every one, especially our host Heather, who made our holiday enjoyable and unforgettable.

"Fantastic gardens at any time of year"

We have lived in the area all of our life and we bought the property in 1999 and run it as a Post Office and Corner Shop until it closed in 2008. Due to the closure it was necessary to find a new life for the premises and due to its lovely central location We decided that it would be an ideal location for guests to explore and enjoy rural Mid Wales.

The Cardigan Bay coast is approximately 50 miles away and can be reached in about 80 minutes.


Nearest Airports are

Liverpool, Manchester & Birmingham all are approximately an hour and a half to two hours away


The local shops of Berriew can provide bread, milk, papers, off-license, butchers, deli, public houses.

The nearest town is Welshpool (5 miles) which has Tesco (24 hour & petrol), Morrison & Sainsbury.

Powis Castle is situated in Welshpool and the ruins of Montgomery Castle are only 4 miles away. The Montgomeryshire Canal (suitable for walking & cycling) is only half a mile away and Offa's Dyke path and Glyndwr's Way are only approx 5 miles away.

The cottage is very conveniently situated, just a mile off the main A.483 and also has a bus route through the village. It is situated in the very active working village of Berriew, which has two pubs, a Spar shop, butchers shop, a deli/tearoom, gift/card shop and a church, all of which are within view of the cottage. It is in an excellent location for exploring the area by car, cycling or walking.

  • Notes on accommodation: The utility, kitchen and lounge are all at ground floor level. Bedroom 1 is down 3 steps and Bedroom 2 up 9 steps with access to patio area from top landing. The property is heated with electric radiators. Electricity, WiFi, linen and towels are all included in the price. The property is not suitable for pets. Smoking is not permitted anywhere within the property. The property has a secure safe for guest's use. There is one reserved parking space but there is usually ample parking space immediately adjacent to the property. Outside: There is a decked patio area accessed from the upstairs landing which overlooks the River Rhiew. There is a patio table and chairs. Utility Room: There is a small utility area which has a washing machine and separate tumble dryer and an area for coats and shoes. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and Linen are provided on arrival. The property is only cleaned at changeover. Other: There is parking available and free WiFi. Cycles and golf clubs can be securely stored by the owner if required.
