Overview

About the property

Studio Apartment in Halesworth, Suffolk, England - Peaceful Location Two Minutes Walk Into Small Market Town With All Facilities

Our refurbished studio offers the best of both worlds, tucked away in the quiet of our beautiful, spacious walled garden alongside the River Blythe, but in the heart of the town's pedestrianised Thoroughfare with a choice of shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants. There is private access by a back gate and free parking for one vehicle. The building was for formally known as the Bloomsbury Summer House; our hideaway has a remarkable history. It was used for regular poetry evenings in the summer of 1916 by members of the Bloomsbury set who lived in nearby Wissett. A treasured thank you letter from Virginia Woolf to the late Mrs Ives, owner of Bridge House, is proof of this. She was staying at the time with her sister Vanessa Bell in Wissett. We hope you enjoy this cosy spot.

About Tom and Juliet Corbett

Our names are Tom and Juliet. We are a friendly working married couple who love the Halesworth area, and Suffolk coast, and hope you will too!

Why Tom and Juliet Corbett chose Suffolk

Halesworth is close to the coast, is a great town with pubs, restaurants and shops and has good transport links.

We love the weekly cinema and the Cut theatre.

Birds, wildlife and the coast are so accessible and if you enjoy walking or cycling, this is the place for you.

The Studio is a wonderful retreat. Recently modernised, it is ideal for two wanting comfortable and simple facilities. Countryside quiet yet within minutes of The Thoroughfare with good shops, pubs and restaurants.

What makes this cabin unique

The benefits are privacy and quiet and access to the whole garden for you to enjoy. Amenities are all within walking distance.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"We spent a great week end in the Bloomsbury Summerhouse, but sadly, no sign of Virginia Woolf! On the first night we ate at the Angel, returned to our cosy retreat and slept well. After a huge breakfast at Cafe Frappa, we spent the day cycling round several beautiful Suffolk villages, stopping at pubs on the way! We slept beautifully and really enjoyed our weekend. A special thanks for storing our bikes". Jane Olivier and Harry Arnott.

"There is something about the magic of this place and the connection it has with the gentle Suffolk landscape and river flowing right outside, which, for me, facilitates new mental connections. I can't wait to take my ideas away and begin sculpting them into brand new prose and poetry. Am thrilled to have discovered this amazing place. Thank you" Merriel.

Further Details:

The best thing about Halesworth is that the main street is pedestrianised, so it's a pleasure to amble along, looking at the range of interesting, independent shops, lovely restaurants, brilliant pubs and bars and cute cafes (including the Hideout Cafe right outside our front door) It has a very strong arts heritage evident in the amount of antiques shops, art galleries and craft-based shops. The New Cut Arts Centre is a converted wearhouse for theatre, film, cafe and cabaret.

There are two banks in the Thoroughfare and the main supermarket is a short walk away from the centre. Continue walking and you will find yourself beside the river on the Millenium Green leading onto beautiful foot paths, a cycle path and meadows.

Our house lies at the quiet end of town and we guarantee you won't be kept awake by noise at night!
