About the property

Cardiff houses

These two neighbouring houses are set in a very quiet area yet close to many amenities. Llandaff North is just around the corner, with its cafes, convenience stores and railway station. Whitchurch village is also within walking distance, This is a bustling village with a range of shops, restaurants, wine bars, butchers, cafes and good pubs. In fact, you will probably find everything you would need for your stay. The houses are very close to the Taff Trail and within minutes walk of Hailey Park as well as Llandaff village with Cathedral, as well as BBC Wales. Llandaf rail station is around the corner with trains running every few minutes direct into the city centre. There is ample free parking at the station if you don't want to drive into the city.

The houses both have free WiFi and there is ample parking outside. They are ideal for small family visits but could always be rented together.

Why Caroline Willis chose Melingriffith

This house is perfect for breaks in the city: handy for everything, yet you can return to the tranquillity of Whitchurch at the end of the day, cooking a meal in the lovely kitchen or eating out at one of the superb restaurants in the village.

What makes this house unique

The house is just around the corner from Hailey Park and the Taff Trail, so it is possible to walk into the city centre along the river bank. We have had some lovely days walking around the parks, meeting up with friends in Llandaff village and Pontcanna, watching a film in Chapter Arts Centre, or doing our shopping at the local award winning butcher and greengrocer in Whitchurch village. We love our life in Pembrokeshire but really look forward to a weekend in Cardiff.

Very comfortable

  • 5 of 5

The house was warm and welcoming and had everything we needed for an enjoyable few days in Cardiff. Close to a railway station which provided quick and easy access to the city centre. Would definitely stay again.

Good dog friendly clean and tidy

  • 5 of 5

Good last minute booking of this dog friendly house. Owners were very accommodating and let me arrive a couple of hours earlier than check in time, and put the heating on before I arrived to warm the house for my arrival. Very close to all amenities. Clean and tidy house.

Clean and peaceful

I stayed there for four days with my family on a vacation and I really enjoyed the house. Was clean and quiet area walking distance to the beautiful park and train station. Wanted to add more days but was booked. Would definitely stay there and recommend it.

Comfortable and convenient house in Cardiff

  • 5 of 5

The house was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for a week's break in Cardiff. We used the train station nearby to visit the city centre and road links to the coast and the surrounding countryside are good. Chris was friendly and helpful when booking. Good walking near the house on the Taff trail so ideal for us with our dog. Would stay again.

Owner's Response: I am very surprised at your review. Looking at the grammar and spelling you obviously struggle with English which suggests you did not read the clear instructions I sent to you. These instructions told you how to boost the heating, which is done by pressing one button in the sitting room. We do not leave the heating on all night long as the house gets too hot (in fact, a few guests have asked me how to turn the heating down as the house is so warm). You must have arrived from a very hot country. My instructions also told you what to do with the rubbish, something you also failed to do. I had to spend an hour separating the nauseating mixture of food waste, alcohol cans, cigarette ends and take-away boxes in order for the bin men to take it away. I even had to wash out the outside bin. What's even more annoying is the fact that I turned down a six-week booking from a local family who were having a new kitchen fitted. I did this in order to honour your existing two-day booking, something I now wish I had not done.

Outstanding, Perfect, Amazing (take your pick of words)

  • 5 of 5

This property is simply fabulous.

It is very well furnished and has everything you could possibly require for a weekend break.

A taxi ride of 10 minutes takes you straight into the city centre or the train station is a 5 minute walk from the front door.

The owners are extremely helpful and accommodating, could not have asked for more.

Thank you for making our weekend such a success.

Car: not necessary

Cardiff Bay is about 20 minutes drive away at the south side of the city. There are beautiful beaches at Southerndown and Llantwit Major.

Cardiff airport is 10 miles away. A car is not necessary as the house is close to Llandaf railway station giving direct access to the city centre.
