About the property

4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms with sweeping views of the valley. Peaceful Location, Mature Gardens, 10 min stroll to the local village with shops

This is a charming property full of character, and beautifully furnished. You have the feel of the 17th century, but all the upgrades and comfort of home. Ideal for those seeking relaxation and outdoor activities. So whether you are a couple on your honeymoon, friends on vacation, or a family wanting some quality time together, there is something for everyone to enjoy at La Borie Grande.

4 large bedrooms. Master bedroom with king-size bed has its own en-suite, double wardrobes dressing table and a fabulous view of the valley and of the raised terrace below! A further double bedroom with a french relaxed feel about it over looks the orchard. There are 2 bright twin bedrooms with open views of the gardens and the beauty beyond. A separate shower room upstairs and a downstairs bathroom with a corner bath and double wash basins. The delightful kitchen feels like home from home and has all the modern appliances, including an oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge, etc and the french doors open out onto the breakfast terrace with an undercover seating area.

There is a separate cool laundry room which has a washing machine, fridge freezer, iron and board and ample shelf storage.

The very large, bright living area has a beautiful antique table and chairs, seating 8 comfortably, piano, and a dresser. There is also an inglenook fireplace, with a widescreen tv, dvd player and selection of dvd's, 2 sofas and 2 armchairs. This leads out onto the raised terrace which looks over the open fields, where the deer graze happily away!

Set in 80 acres of secluded meadow and woodland, a safe and peaceful environment with large mature gardens surrounding the property on all sides with fantastic views over-looking the countryside. Lots of walks in the cool and peaceful woods. Shaded private terraces for outside dining with a lovely middle terrace with a pizza oven and BBQ. The secluded and enclosed swimming pool area has a beautiful oak Pavilion to relax inside from the heat of the day, or chilling out with a good book. Fruit and nut trees, honey suckle pergolas, lavender pathways, shaded hammocks ... all for you to enjoy, relax and explore! Just a 10 min stroll to our local Bastide village, Villefranche du Perigord, has many shops, cafes and restaurants. It is one of the oldest and prettiest Bastide villages, dating back to the 12th Century, which still has its cobbled streets with tiny alleyways and large covered market square. A real step back in time, where you can enjoy the fresh produce from the friendly local people. It is only 12 mins from Monpazier, 30 mins from Sarlat, Beynac, and the Dordogne river. Great place for cycling with quiet roads.

About Tracy Scott

My husband and I and 2 girls moved here nearly 14 years ago. As soon as we saw the amazing buildings and grounds, we immediately fell in love with not only the place but also the surrounding area which is steeped in history and beauty! We simply just couldn't go back!

Why Tracy Scott chose Perigord Noir

Off the beaten track, yet close enough within walking distance to the local friendly village with plenty of shops, boulangeries, butchers, cafes, restaurants, mini-marts, bank, tourist office etc.

No roads, safe haven for everybody to enjoy all the wildlife and feel totally relaxed.

What makes this house unique

The most amazing views and sunsets and stars that go on forever..........

Guestbook comments from the owner

The photos really don’t do it justice at all!! There is so much space to just chill out and relax!! My advice to anyone wishing to come here would be book early...... you really wont be disappointed by anything!!

Thanks Tracy x

Our 4th year here - that says it all!!! A place to simply just chill out and watch life go slowly by!! Great safe environment for the kids, so much to do in the gardens alone - and great hammock for the adults! See you again soon!!

Fantastic place. Everything we dreamed of in a holiday. Wonderful discreet family on site who gave us lots of useful information. Have already booked our holiday here for next year, can't come soon enough.

Wonderful house, grounds, location and hosts

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a wonderful week at La Borie Grande. We were an extended family group and the size of the house, different areas outside, and the gardens meant that we all felt we had plenty of space to enjoy together, or alone! The local town is lovely, and Tracy and family couldn't be more helpful hosts. A week just wasn't long enough!

An absolute gem!

  • 5 of 5

We booked this property by the beautiful photographs and were amazed when we arrived just how stunning it is in real life! The house is just fantastic! The rooms are huge all with outstanding views over the countryside. The outside space was beyond our expectations, from the gardens to the outside pizza oven and bbq area to the gorgeous decking that we spent many a night sat watching the sunset while sampling the local vin! Having our own private swimming pool was fantastic and it was always spotlessly clean. Tracy and her family are so lovely and helpful, they went above and beyond to help us plan trips and were even there in an instant when we couldn't light the pizza oven. Please don't hesitate to book this wonderful property, you will not regret it!

Fabulous house

  • 5 of 5

On arrival, we were kindly greeted by Tracy and a wonderful 'Welcome Pack'. The house is absolutely stunning. All the rooms are large and spacious as are the grounds which are kept so immaculate.

Our first week was my husband and I and our 4 children, aged from 4-16 yrs old. There was so much on site to keep them all occupied with a fab park, badminton and boules courts, and the endless walks in the woods and chasing after the butterflies and squirrels in the garden - it was hard to drag them away to see the sites around.

Coming back to the pool was such a delight! It is completely safe being fenced and gated and a hedge all around so you are totally private.

My parents joined us for our 2nd week and loved chilling out in all the shady places for 'book reading' and spending the evenings chatting while cooking on the bbq and watching the amazing sunsets and we have never seen so many stars!!!

We all agreed we have never enjoyed a holiday so much or felt as relaxed.

Thank you so much x

Beautiful with breath taking views

  • 5 of 5

The borie grande was beautiful and clean with everything you could wish for and more. The pool area was perfect - safe for the kids (4 and 5) and relaxing for the adults. The views from the house are amazing and the dining area over looking the forest and hills was picture perfect. There was plenty to do in the local area (the caves in padirac definitely worth a visit) and the fact that the house was a 10min walk to the gorgeous town was perfect.

Tracy and her family were helpful, friendly and on hand if we needed anything, but the way in which the house was situated it felt like we were the only ones there.

I loved it and can see why Tracy has settled there in that perfect part of France.

Thank you for such a fab holiday.

Fantastic family holiday at La Borie Grande

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic family holiday at La Borie Grande! Perfect for the toddlers as pool not at all accessible without adult present. Quite surroundings with fab local amenities and activities. Rural and away from it all, this was the perfect spot. Plenty to explore or just stay local and enjoy. Tracy and family were so welcoming and literature all very personal and insightful local knowledge which was super helpful. Night markets a must and very helpful local tourist office in Villefranche. Easy commute from Bergerac. Stunning local scenery. Villa is very well kept and lovingly restored, and owners mindfully unintrusive and easy going. Was lovely to have them close for questions if we had them. Highly recommend.

Truly wonderful !

  • 5 of 5

From our initial enquiry through to our departure Tracy and her family helped to make our holiday such a memorable and relaxing 2 weeks. We arrived to a heatwave that lasted the 2 weeks but the house was a cool retreat and the pool was brilliant. There are many beautiful oak pergolas and shaded areas and the views and gardens are spectacular and beautifully maintained. It is a short walk into the town which is very picturesque. We would like to thank the whole family at La Borie Grande for sharing their home with us and being such wonderful hosts.
