Farmhouse in Builth Wells, Nr. Hay on Wye, Powys, Wales - Walking, Picnic By The River, Wild Swimming, Cycling, Fishing Available

Situated, on a small farming estate, 3 1/2 miles from Builth Wells, Powys (home of the Royal Welsh Show) in the heart of mid Wales. The Hendre is an easy 1/2 hour drive Hay-on-Wye, The Black Mountains, The Brecon Beacons and the Elan Vally at Rhayader. From the top of the hill to the riverside are beautiful wooded walks with good tracks for cyclists, there is a horse riding stables nearby. The river valley is designated as SSI because of its rare flora and fauna, including otters. Fishing for Salmon, Trout and Grayling on the Cefnllysgwynne Beat of the Irfon, which consists of two miles double bank and a further mile of single bank can be arranged with us.

Beautiful, peaceful location

We enjoyed a lovely week in this beautiful house. Very spacious considering we had at least 16 of us all getting together some evenings! The views around the house were really beautiful with lovely walks just outside the house. Perfect place if you have a good group all staying together.

Beautiful location... Great base for exploring

The home baked biscuits that were left for us on arrival was a homely touch.

All-in-all we had a great stay and was very good value for money. It's a spacious property and well placed to either relax and get away from it all or explore the surrounding countryside. Lovely walks all around the property, including the river that flows through the estate... The property is very well tucked away and feels secluded with a well maintained garden.

I received a warm welcome from Charles who made sure I knew all I needed to know about the property and answered any questions we had, the owners were both very accommodating. We were also able to take our dog. Worth noting that Sainsbury's deliver as well (So I would imagine Tesco will).

Whilst the central heating is most definitely up to the job, the log burner is very effective and there was a good supply of logs (and more if we had needed it).

It was a really good base for exploring the local sights, the family and especially our dog enjoyed the holiday.

So peaceful

The location is very tranquil, you can't hear any roads from the property and there are some lovely walks right on the doorstep. The owners live a short distance away and after giving us a tour of the house and showing us how everything worked left us to enjoy our holiday, but it was reassuring to know they were nearby if we needed anything. We found the beds extremely comfortable and slept well every night! It was also useful that Sainsbury's delivered our groceries right to the door, a useful tip if anyone wants to consider it, even though there are shops in the local town.

Beautiful property, very spacious

I organised a stay for family and friends. The owners were very helpful and accommodating of any requests I had. The property was very spacious, and the kitchen being the hub of the place was great for our get togethers with the huge table and benches. The children loved the gardens and had a great time playing out there.

Quiet yet near to a lovely town and only 40 mins from the Beacons made it a really good find!

Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen and towels provided, beds made up.
