About the Owner

I was brought up in the highlands of Scotland, but moved to London for my career working in the London Metropolitan Police. It was there that I met my husband John. The job was great and we loved living in London, but I always missed the beauty and space back home. We knew that when we retired we would live somewhere, where we could enjoy country life again. Now we live in the most stunning countryside, and I have time to tend my vegetables and indulge my passion for cooking.

Beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

The accommodation was light and airy with a fabulous patio area. The gardens are lovely and picturesque. The cottage was well equipped and clean.

The hosts were very welcoming and there was lots to do in the area.

We enjoyed tennis locally and swimming in the river, great for kids.

We will definitely return!

Peace in Our Time!

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking for a fabulous gite, with the most genial of hosts, you couldn't do any better than stay at Eileen's & John's. The gite is extremely comfortable and the views from the patio are magnificent. And, if you like cats and kittens - you'll be in feline heaven! The larger towns of Bourganeuf & St Leonard de Noblat are easily accessible and are lovely to visit. Eileen is a first-rate cook and 25 Euros is as small price to pay for a fantastic three-course meal, wine at no extra cost! All-in-all, I 'd recommend the gite to anyone who's looking for a tranquil, restful stay in the most beautiful part of France. Many thanks to Eileen and John for making it restful week! James, Essex.

Cosy hideaway in beautiful surroundings

  • 5 of 5

Chez Dindon is a lovely property, with great outside space. The garden and patio are secluded, overlooking rolling wooded countryside which is alive with bird-life. Inside the cottage is comfortable, spacious and very well equipped; the kitchen in particular has everything you could possibly need.

Eileen and John are very friendly, welcoming and always helpful. We wish them all success with their bookings in future years.

Gorgeous cottage

  • 5 of 5

This is a fabulous cottage in a fabulous location.

We were made to feel very welcome including our 2 dogs Molly and Meg who equally enjoyed playing in the garden.

The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable, home from home, we really didn't want to leave.

Well done to Eileen and John for providing a wonderful cottage and also for being kind and friendly hosts.

We would highly recommend a stay in this gorgeous cottage in this wonderful area of France.

Many thanks once again

Debbie Julie Molly and Meg x

Wonderful get-away-from-it-all vacation

  • 5 of 5

We came with great expectations to this gite following the excellent reviews and it surpassed them all. This is a very lovely vacation property in an undiscovered and beguiling area of France. We stayed for two weeks and were not at all inclined to go very far because being at the well-equipped and comfortable cottage was so enjoyable of itself. When we did venture out the quiet roads and stunning countryside made for great cycling and the local river beach for lovely swimming. Eileen and John are as welcoming and helpful as everyone says they are. DO ask Eileen to cook for you if you stay here; we had two excellent meals courtesy of her home grown veg and excellent cooking skills and were very impressed. Not to be missed! We are certain to make a return visit and would highly recommend this property for a relaxing and secluded break.

Peaceful and Tranquil

  • 5 of 5

This is a delightful gite. The location is very tranquil. If what you require from a holiday is a total rest in peaceful surroundings then this is the perfect spot. The outlook over fields is very restful, and all you can hear are the birds singing and the occasional moo from one of the Limousin cows grazing in the field at the bottom of the garden.

The gite itself is exceptionally well-equipped - a comfortable lounge, with large dining area, a good sized bedroom, with direct access onto the terrace, a utility room with washing machine, and the kitchen is a very good size with a further eating area and has all the equipment you could possibly need, even if you are a very keen cook.

Eileen and John are very friendly and exceptionally good hosts, being concerned that you have all you need and offering advice when asked about the local area, but they were never intrusive, indeed went to great pains to not encroach on your privacy, despite the need at times to tend to their vegetable patch at the bottom of the garden.

We really enjoyed our holiday there and certainly intend to return in the future. Our thanks to Eileen and John.

Location

From the Owner

I grew up in a farming community, and farming is at the heart of this community too. The area is wooded and hilly, and completely unspoilt. There is a hidden creek, or lovely ancient church at every turn, and yet the area is largely undiscovered. There is masses to do here, but you rarely see tourists.
