Lovely place, great location and a warm welcome

  • 5 of 5

We've just come back from a lovely 4 night stay at the barn and would recommend it highly. Kay is a wonderful host, greeted us with a warm friendly welcome and had loads of useful information to share about the local area, where to eat etc... The barn is perfectly equipped with all you need for a short break with 2 small children (3yr old and a 4 month old), comfortable and spotlessly clean. Compact kitchen downstairs is perfect for 2 adults + 2 (small) children with patio doors onto the garden where our 3yr old loved the playhouse and collecting eggs from the chickens for our breakfast. Its open plan upstairs, bright and clean with a very comfortable kingsize bed and a z-bed for children and travel cot for babies plus a sofa(bed), armchair and TV with dvd player and a wii (we didn't use as were out enjoying the forest most of the days and evenings). The location is great, on the edge of a quiet little village (Bashley) on the south west corner of the forest but also only a 10min drive to the coast where there is a beautiful shingle beach. The village has a handy shop/post office and sells delicious croissants. The barn is next door to a fishery (Orchard Lakes) where we took our 3yr old for his first proper fishing experience which he loved and there are riding stables further up the road which we will check out next time we stay!

Comfortable Barn - Great for Coast & New Forest

  • 4 of 5

Excellent Communciation prior to arrival with owners and a helpful introduction to the facilities of the Barn on arrival. The Barn is very conveniently located to get around in the New Forest, We visited Beaulieu, Bucklers Hard, Lymington, Burley ( Cycle Hire for the NF), Bournemouth, and even managed a day trip to the Isle of Wight. - Would certainly return and recommend to Friends.

We tried a few places to eat but would recomend the Hare and Hounds at Sway and the BeachComber Cafe at Barton on Sea. The Barn is well equipped and was spotlessly clean.

What a lovely place to stay. A great base to explore the New Forest. The Barn had everything we needed. Its in a lovely quiet spot but close enough to visit the main attractions. Clean and well maintained. The owner Kay could not do enough for us, recommending restaurants and places to visit. etc. I would definitely recommend it.

Highly recommended

  • 5 of 5

We booked this accommodation as a 'last minute' thought recently in the half-term. Our choices were limited as most places were fully booked. But as we found out on arrival we'd struck gold.

Kay greeted us at the gates, showed us around the property and gave a quick run through of the heating controls, oven etc.

My wife and our two boys (2 & 4) stayed here for 2 nights and had a fantastic time. We love the New Forest anyway so really just needed a good place to have as our base so we could enjoy some days out without having to travel too far. The location is excellent and we could be at the places we'd planned to visit within half an hour, including the seaside.

The kitchen size was perfect for what we needed and the downstairs shower / toilet is well presented and very clean.

Upstairs the main area is very spacious and very tastefully decorated / furnished. The double bed is extremely comfortable (so much so we're going bed shopping tomorrow as ours no longer feels good enough!) and our 4 year old was more than happy with the folding bed provided. Our 2 year old slept in a cot bed, also provided by the owners.

The TV has Freeview and to my boys' delight there was a Nintendo Wii with a great selection of games for them to play.

Outside we had the run of the beautifully landscaped gardens plus the 1 acre paddock complete with the tamest, friendliest chickens I've ever met!

If you're looking stay in a well appointed and presented property set in beautiful surroundings and with great views across open fields from the upstairs windows, then this is it. Kay was very friendly and has a wealth of knowledge of the local area should you need some tips on places to go, eat etc.

We'll definitely be staying here again.

AMAZING Getaway !!!

  • 5 of 5

We have just got back from a GREAT 3 day trip down south. We had the best stay possible all thanks to Kay ! I have stayed in alot of places but never somewhere that has so many little extras, things of which you would never even of thought of! Eggs, sweets, DVDs and even a little sewing kit! The annex is clean, spacious and welcoming. It is just behind electric gates so great to know your car is safe and the Chickens in the garden are great entertainment! To anyone thinking of a few nights away the location is great, really well priced, clean and great owners. Would recommend this to anyone! Thanks Kay :)

Great relaxing stay

  • 5 of 5

The accommodation was very comfortable and clean and could not fault the hospitality shown by Kay - very friendly and had some lovely eggs left for us by the chickens! Perfect to use as a base to explore the surrounding area - going down to the beach and into the forest during our stay.

Everything you need for cooking and we made use of all the amenities both nights. Lots of great information provided on arrival if you were to go out for dinner instead.

Overall, a lovely relaxing stay in comfortable surroundings - thanks!
