About the Owner

We are based in West Dorset, we wanted a holiday home that we could escape to easily on a Friday evening after work and school! We are a family of four with a black labrador, two cats and three horses (although we can't fit all the animals into the apartment - they have to stay behind!).

Guestbook comments from the owner

This apartment is finished to a great standard. It has everything you need with plenty of space and stylish decor. It's right on the beach which is good for surfing and walking. It's close to Newquay centre but not too close that you feel trapped in town. We had a great stay and looking forward to booking again! The White Family January 2013

24 Ocean Gate exceeded our expectations. The flat was spacious and clean, equipped with the latest technology. The location was also very good, the beach is a short walk, the town centre is also not far. Great view from the balcony. Would return any time." Peter, April 2012

Lovely Accommodation

  • 4 of 5

Lovely accommodation perfect for a family of four but you could fit 5/6

Good parking and surf equipment storage

Perfect location for a daily trip to Fistral beach and suitably far enough from the town to avoid the hustle and bustle of Newquay.

Plenty to do in the local area

Very spacious property right where you need to be.

  • 5 of 5

Apartment 24 is exactly what we needed in our accommodation. There where 3 of us staying here, myself, my husband and my 1 year old daughter so we needed somewhere out of the towns hustle and bustle and this apartment was perfect.

The underground parking and lift are an added benefit to this apartment meaning we could safely get our little girl in the car.

The apartment itself is well equipped with everything you might need. There are 2 large bedrooms and the en-suite off the main bedroom has the best shower 😀 The main bathroom has a very large bath which was perfect for us and even fitted my 6ft 8 husband in! The huge hallway made a perfect crawling track for my daughter and there is a step up to the balcony making it impossible for her to get out there. All in all this apartment was perfect and definitely luxurious.

Fistral beach is a short walk away and you can see this from the balcony. There are some shops and places to eat here including Rick Steins where the fish is amazing. Newquay town is also a walk away around 20 mins with a pram and the aquarium is in the centre for those inevitable rainy days.

We will be back to Newquay and this Apartment will be top of our list.

An amazing weekend away!

  • 5 of 5

24 Ocean gate Newquay was a delightful weekend retreat. The facilities, layout and location led to a completely stress-free couple of days. You're within walking distance from the town, great restaurants and the beautiful beaches of Newquay. The property was clean, tidy and you could tell that the owners always keep it in this immaculate condition. Communication between myself and the owner from booking to the actual holiday was sufficient enough to not warrant any pre-stay worry but also not frequent enough to become irritating. Also the wine in the fridge on arrival was a lovely touch. The owners were also extremely flexible for the needs of our stay allowing us enjoy our stay completely. Highlights of the stay have to be the balcony's beautiful sea view, coasteering, and Fistral beach itself. The Fish House overlooking the sea however is a must. Exquisite food, exemplary service and great beer. A massive thank you to Nikki for an amazing holiday!

Brilliant

  • 5 of 5

An amazing apartment in a great location overlooking the sea and golf course. From the initial contact with the owner til the day we departed I couldn't fault the experience. The apartment was spacious yet remained cosy, which came in very handy for the evenings after our coastal walks. The L-shape sofa and selection of DVD's made it feel very homely. We didn't use the balcony because of the weather but it was a good size and the view of the golf course and sea was superb. Kitchen and bathrooms were perfect for us and never felt cramped. The comfortable bed was difficult to get out of in the morning which is all you need to know. On a side note the dealings I had with the owner, nikki, were exemplary. We were given clear instructions on how to access the property and she made us feel very welcome without actually being there. From start to finish I couldn't ask for anymore. If I return to Newquay which I'm sure I will, I'll know where to stay. Thanks

A Great Apartment!

  • 5 of 5

I have stayed in many self catering apartments over the years and this has to be one of the best! Well laid out, very clean and comfortable, and equipped to a very high standard. Lovely view over the golf course towards Fistral beach from the balcony, which is a great place to sit and relax of an evening. Far enough from the centre of town not to be disturbed, but close enough to stroll in when you want to.

The owner, Nikki, was very helpful with questions I had beforehand - nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Great facility for surfers in the underground car park to clean and store wetsuits and boards. And if you have a second car, there is unrestricted parking in Pentire Avenue right outside (though you have to time it right to get a space).

All in all, an excellent apartment to stay in - one which I can't recommend highly enough.

Location

From the Owner

We absolutely love Newquay with its cool surfing vibe, vibrant town and numerous sandy beaches for body boarding/surfing and long walks. There is so much to explore in North and West Cornwall, amazing coastline and gorgeous fishing ports and local cuisine, not to mention all the family attractions available all year round.

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

Fistral Beach is one of the best surfing beaches in the world. There are many surf schools locally. Surfing equipment including wetsuits and boards can be hired from Fistral Beach or from the Esplanade Hotel which is a 5 minute walk away.

Newquay Golf Course is opposite the apartments and is open to visitors.

Dolphin and seal watching boat trips are aplenty.

Coast/Beach:

The apartment is a 3 minute walk from Fistral Beach, with its resident lifeguards, for bathers and surfers. Newquay's other 4 beaches are also close by. The long golden National Trust beach at Crantock with its beautiful dunes is only a short drive away. The property is adjacent to the South West Coast Path, which leads up onto Pentire Headland, providing spectacular views from the dramatic cliff. It's a short walk onto the headland (approx 15-20 mins) to dine at the lovely Lewinnick Lodge pub.

Travel:

Newquay Airport is about 7 miles from the apartment and takes 15 to 20 minutes by car.

Newquay Train Station is 1.5 miles from the apartment or 5 minutes in a cab.

You can easily get around Newquay without a car, but to get out and explore Cornwall a car is recommended.

Distances:

Newquay town centre is just a 10 minute walk away but there is an excellent shop, Fistral Stores, behind the apartments. Asda, and Sainsbury's are nearby and Morrison's is a 10 minute drive away.

Further Details:

There are so many attractions and exciting days out to choose from in this wonderful part of Cornwall. To name a few: The Blue Reef Aquarium, Newquay Zoo, Cornwall’s Crealy Adventure Park, Oasis Fun Pool, Holywell Bay Fun Park, The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and The National Maritime Museum.
