Fabulous Renovation Of A Period Property With Amazing Sea Views

Overview

Property

Updated: 03-Dec-2016
Apartment in Dysart, Kirkcaldy, Fife, Central Scotland

John McDouall Stuart View is an ideal stopping-off point if you are en-route to the Highlands, looking for close links to Fife's world-famous golf courses, or walking the Fife Coastal Path.

John McDouall Stuart was born in this house in 1815 and later emigrated ‘down under’ where he led the first expedition to cross Australia from south to north in 1862. He is a celebrated figure in Australia, where he has a 950-mile highway named after him. The holiday apartment occupies the upper two floors of a three-storey B-listed building. The rooms have been decorated in keeping with the style of the building, retaining period features, such as the window shutters.

There is a spacious living/dining area, with a large dining table that seats 6, and plenty of comfortable seating where you can relax and take in the breath-taking views out to sea. There is a TV with DVD player.

Off the living room is a well-equipped kitchen with hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and fridge. A washing machine/dryer is located in a cupboard off the living room.

On the upper floor is a comfortable twin bedroom with sloped ceiling and lovely sea views.

There is also a modern bathroom with toilet, sink and shower on the upper level.

Freshly-laundered towels and bed-linen are all provided.

The apartment is accessed via an external stone staircase. There is no lift access.

This is a non-smoking property and we do not allow pets.

There is plenty of parking on the street outside the apartment.

The apartment is owned by Fife Historic Buildings Trust, a local Building Preservation Trust. It is a company limited by guarantee and has charitable status. It was formed in 1997 primarily for the purpose of saving and restoring historic buildings in Fife which are at risk. We are very proud of our beautiful historic building and would love to welcome you here.

Stunning Views

  • 4 of 5

The apartment in Dysart was beautiful and exceeded our expectations. It was well stocked with all the things we needed. When we arrived there were lovey fresh flowers on the table and coffee and tea in the kitchen. The beds were very comfortable. It was a charming place to be as we explored the Fife area of Scotland. The water front in front of the place was just beautiful and great for evening walks and pictures.

Beautiful cottage, great location

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Dysart. The cottage had everything we needed, great views, a quiet location and so much history. Lovely walk in Ravenscraig Park past the Harbourmasters House and so convenient for Kirkcaldy and the rest of Fife. Would certainly want to stay here again if we were coming back to the area.

Truly a home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

I think my son said it best when he said, "It's like having a new home and we didn't have to move!" We really had want for nothing while we were there. The apartment was fully furnished. The kitchen had all the tools and supplies we needed, even salt and pepper! The gift of fresh bread was so sweet, made me feel welcomed as if a friend had left it. I loved the literature that was there in the book case which provided some local history. I loved the idea that I was in a building that was rescued and renovated. And the rates were very reasonable.

John McDouall Stuart View, Dysart

  • 5 of 5

We have recently enjoyed a very pleasant stay at the Dysart apartment. The house is lovely with super views out to sea, watching the ships and lights across the bay was great. A very well equipped place and very comfy beds It was very interesting reading about the adventures of John Stuart, what an amazing man. We found the area very good for coastal walks especially getting the bus to Burntisland and returning along the Fife Coastal path, an eight mile walk. We also found everyone we came in contact with very pleasant and friendly. I must also say thanks for our lovely flowers and welcome goodies, superb.

Easter weekend

  • 5 of 5

booked this quite last minute because I was intrigued by the History associated with the house and we loved it!

beautiful spacious property which had everything you could need for a real home from home experience.

really lovely touch in being left wine, bread, milk, flowers AND an Easter egg which were much appreciated

loved all the leaflets on the local area and the binoculars which we used to scan the sea all weekend

would highly recommend this wee gem of a flat which is a great base from which to explore the east neuk of Fife
