Large lovely house with fantastic views and large mature garden. Perfect for short breaks, reunions, longer holidays with friends & family.

**Reduced May and June prices ** Large and spacious house with incredible views over the countryside has 3 generously-sized double and king bedrooms and 3 twin bedrooms, one of which is on the ground floor with a toilet and washbasin next door. All 3 large double bedrooms have king sized or zip linked beds and have space for travel cots, which are provided and included in the rental cost, as are 2 high chairs. With full gas thermostically controlled central heating included and a gas log fire in the living room the house is ideal for cosy winter breaks.

There are 2 well equipped kitchens at the house which are next to each other, suitably equipped for family meals each with a dishwasher, oven and hob, saucepans plates bakeware and cutlery. One of the kitchens is open plan with the large dining room. The other kitchen through a doorway also has a washing machine.

The dining room with its beautiful solid wood floor has a huge dining table which seats 12, which overlooks a breath taking view of the garden and surrounding countryside. The dining room has a huge 3 metre window with built in window seats, allowing guests to sit with a newspaper or simply watch the ever changing scene. This includes the sunrise over the rolling countryside, the soaring seagulls and the farmers across the valley working on their land.

The large mature family friendly garden has 4 lawns and mature shrubs and borders full of seasonal colour and interest. There is an area for BBQs and games, and planting includes camellias rhododendrons and Palm trees. The brand new decking area and steps into the garden is a great place to chill and relax, and the brand new brick built BBQ next to this, wonderful place to share a meal in the evening, overlooking the views.

Often described as a home from home the house is spacious and well equipped. It boasts

3,400 square feet of space, this country chic vibe house is perfect for family holidays, birthdays, family gatherings and get togethers. A door separates the two kitchens making each half of the house self sufficient, ideal for several families and friends renting the whole house together. The 2 stair cases make access and movement around the whole house really easy.

We pride ourselves in maintaining the highest of standards and offering a personal and bespoke service. We unpack pre booked shopping and grocery orders, provide a cream tea on arrival, order birthday cakes and food to be delivered to surprise birthday parties. Organising hot tub hire and accommodating wedding groups are amongst our latest enquiries and we are considering offering naming ceremonies with Cornish Celebrants for babies and their families.

The house has generous living space for 12 people + 2 babies with extensive views over the countryside and set within mature and attractive private gardens. Originally the family home of its owners, Edens Horizon has been completely renovated, and has panoramic views from all the south facing rooms over the countryside and town of St Austell. Families and friends groups and reunions can enjoy the feeling of complete seclusion, yet with the knowledge that the market town of St Austell is within walking distance, with the shopping facilities of White River Place, pubs restaurants, cinema and bowling alley are 1 mile away.

St Austell Bay lies on the south coast of Cornwall has 11 beaches, sandy or pebbles and a lovely historic harbour at Charlestown used as a backdrop in the filming of Poldark and Pirates of the Caribbean, all close by the house. The area is ideal for walking either on beaches, coastal paths, china clay trails or to National Trust properties such as Lanhydrock and St Michaels Mount. St Ives Padstow Newquay Flambards and Land End are all within driving distance of our house, indeed it is fascinating to read the number of places visited in the house guest book.

The large main sitting room seats 12 on comfortable sofas and chairs, with bean bags and there is a gas fire in the cornish stone fireplace for cosy evenings. There is a smaller sitting room with comfortable chairs and again a lovely view over the garden. Both sitting rooms have TVs with dvd and video players, and freeview.

The living spaces on the ground floor are mainly solid oak floors with rugs. Both sets of stairs and all the bedrooms are carpeted. The house is fitted and decorated to a high standard, has central heating with a cosy gas fire in the living room.

For Poldark fans in particular the beautiful and famous Charlestown harbour and its fantastic restaurants and pubs is a short drive away or accessible by bus from the end of the road. Filming for Poldark and other productions is often taking place with public viewing areas with the cast staying and dining out locally. Other destinations by bus or car journeys include the Wheal Martyn Heritage centre and fantastic Clay cycle trail, the world famous Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the masses of beaches and beach cafes within St Austell bay and further afield.

There is ample room for parking 3 cars in the drive, and a garage for storage. A Traditional Cornish cream tea or Breakfast pack with a basic welcome pack is included dishwasher tablets, toilet paper, washing up liquid, milk tea coffee and sugar, just to get you started.

Walkers are especially welcomed, and a qualified guide is available for 3 levels of walks, easy medium and hard. Please contact the owner Kate to discuss your requirements and possibilities of coastal and moorland walks in the areas accessible from the house. Pick up multipule people carriers, and reliable taxi firm information or booking transport is available. Half board catering and packed lunches are available on request. Gluten free and vegetarian diets catered for. Please contact Kate on 07887656902 or by email kate@edenshorizon.co.uk for further details.

About Kate Treharne Jones

Kate and her husband Robert have lovingly restored and upgraded Kate's former family home. Their daughter Annabel got married from the house in September 2015 and as a family or with friends spend as much time as possible in Cornwall, visiting favourite haunts, meeting old friends, and finding out about new and exciting places to visit which we can recommend to our guests. Our immediate and extended family return again and again to this lovely house, creating fun times and memories passing through the generations.

The house feels like a home, it is spacious and welcoming. 5 years ago the house was made available for holiday rentals, to allow many other people to experience all that Cornwall has to offer, including the summer weather and safe beaches, as well as the many tourist attractions in the area. These include the world heritage site and museum at Charlestown harbour, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, Wheal Martyn museum, and the famous Eden Project.

Kate prides herself in the quality of the service offered. She and the family "go the extra mile" to ensure guests feel they have had a good holiday experience, whether it's for a wedding, family reunion or walking holiday. Besides the goodies we offer on arrival at the house, the team organise deliveries and bespoke catering, using local suppliers. Babysitting services, hot tub hire, nothing is too much trouble, just let Kate know when you know your dates.

We are always looking out for new ideas and new places to go.Pearce's pasties at Mount Charles, shopping in Padstow, Kellys icecream, and Wreckers restaurant in Charlestown remain firm family favourites.

Kate Treharne Jones purchased this house in 1951

Why Kate Treharne Jones chose St Austell

Edens Horizon is used and loved by our friends and family for reunions and our shared love of Cornwall. Cornish celebrants, wedding suppliers and professionals are always delighted to come to the house to help our guests. Brides with their friends and families often stay and luxuriate in the peaceful, colourful, spacious and tranquil gardens and house. We accept one well behaved dog with restrictions to the ground floor and a £30 cleaning fee.Hot tub hire is available on request.

Many activities are close by including horse riding tennis Saling swimming both in the many beaches and at the local leisure centre. The coastal path between Polkerris and Fowey is popular with walkers as is the Clay trail which incorporates the Wheal Martyn clay museum and clay trails. China Clay extraction was the main industry of St Austell and surrounding villages and the museum gives a fascinating insight to this industrial history.

Charlestown and Mevagissey enjoying popularity with the BBC Poldark series have been favourites with all of us since childhood and have largely remained in changed since then. The quaintness and charm remain, the option to have a drink or an icecream is a bonus when you visit. Mackerel fishing is a popular option as well as the Mevagissey to Fowey ferry which operates daily from May to October in good weather.

Edens Horizon is centrally placed in Cornwall for most excursions and is particularly close to the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

I can remember the excitement some years ago when Bodelva was being transformed by giant biomes and plants into the Eden Project around the same time that the Lost Gardens of Heligan were being rediscovered.

What makes this house unique

The location of Eden's Horizon means that it is within easy reach of the town, yet the panoramic views of open countryside from all the main windows give visitors a feeling of peace and solitude.

The garden was designed by 2 RHS gardener members in 1951 with crazy paving paths and many lawns and borders, stretching to 1/3 of an acre if full of colour, rhododendrons, azaleas daffodils in spring for which Cornwall is famous. Plenty of space for children to play and adults to relax. There is a BBQ area, with a bbq and charcoal supplied plus garden furniture and other stone seating in the garden. The garden is maintained these days by Kate an RHS member like her mother and uncle and with the strong armed Denzil and Alan.

Guests can walk to the town centre with its shops pubs cinema and bowling alley or get the bus at the end of the road, get the train at St Austell main line station or use the car. Edens Horizon located in mid Cornwall means that guests can travel the length and breadth of Poldark country easily.

The house is within easy driving distance of tourist attractions, beaches, and supermarkets, and although the adventurous visitor may choose to explore further afield, others may simply enjoy relaxing in the garden with a good book, 'Far From the Madding Crowd'!

Birthday celebration

  • 5 of 5

We loved our long weekend at Edens Horizon on the outskirts of St Austell. The views of St Austell and the surrounding countryside from the large picture windows are delightful as is the garden which our grandchildren enjoyed enormously. All the bedrooms are comfortable and clean. Everything worked as it was supposed to with no problems. Even the heating was easy to adjust when the evenings became chilly.

We were celebrating my wife's birthday with our children and grandchildren - ten adults and two children in all. We only had a few days when we could all get together and this house proved to be a perfect place to stay with enough space for all of us. The large lounge was ideal for family gatherings but we also appreciated that there was another comfortable seating area as well as a large dining area with a table which could accommodate us all for meals. There are also two kitchens and three fridges!

There is a supermarket a few minutes drive away and the seaside is within very easy reach. Kate, the owner of the house recommended somewhere in Charlestown (remember the "Onedin Line"?) for us to have a celebration meal together. The location is good, very close to many places of interest worth visiting. We particularly enjoyed Lanhydrock House. I must also mention the cream tea on arrival which was much appreciated as some of us had had a tortuous journey due to motorway delays! We would certainly recommend this house for a holiday break.

An awesome house!

  • 5 of 5

Kate the landlady is very friendly and more than helpful, the house is super well equipped and we had 9 adults all sleeping comfortably with no issues, the location is perfect for Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, St Austell, China Clay mines and the coast, Pentewan Sands is close by, Wheal Martyn, Porthpean Beach and Charles Town , Mevagissy is a short drive and as we shared it between 9 of us it was super affordable as well. There are numerous places to relax and chat and ample table room for huge wonderful dinners, 2 kitchens makes cooking easy and lots of bathrooms meant there were no hassles in the mornings or evenings, we had ample parking for 4 cars, huge beautiful gardens and the best view of the sunset in the mornings from the back of the house, truly stunning, we had a thoroughly wonderful time. We stayed in January as well and had 1 issue in the whole stay with a leaky shower, but the plumber was straight over and the issues resolved, we were also amazed to arrive with all the basic provisions and an incredible cream tea for everyone!! Highly recommend this place, a lovely quiet neighbourhood but close enough to get where you need. We walked into St Austell and back no worries, lost of local shops near by and easy to find. Utterly awesome! Thanks Kate I have recommended you to the Uni and Eden if they have groups like us again. I hope we can come back when we have all graduated and relive the wonderful weeks we shared there without the added workload :o)

A wonderful 5 Star stay

  • 5 of 5

I loved my stay in this beautiful Cornish house! The views of St Austell and the surrounding countryside are panoramic, the garden is exquisite (it must be very special in the summer time), the beds are super comfortable and the shower in my en-suite bathroom seemed so new I wondered if I was the first person to use it!

This truly is a wonderful place to stay, with enough space for a big group of people or a large family (or 3 generations of family) to be very comfortable. I loved that there was a choice of sitting rooms and dining spaces - we constantly discovered new places to be!

The house is situated close to all necessary amenities and it's only a short drive to the seaside. We enjoyed a trip Charleston Harbour (a must if you like Poldark!), ate in a lovely local eaterie and even popped to town to catch a film - it's a perfect spot for a holiday!

Lovely house with beautiful views and lots to do

  • 4 of 5

I stayed at Edens Horizon with my roller derby team, Kent Roller Girls, the weekend of 18th March 2016. We really enjoyed our stay, the house is spacious, clean and well equipped with plenty of space for 12 guests. Although it was a bit chilly to get out there a lot, the garden was beautiful with a lovely view across St Austell. Kate was super helpful, ready on the end of a phone if we needed help with anything. There are lots of DVDs, books and games to occupy yourselves with too!

We can't recommend this house enough, perfect for a group of friends or family trip away.
